    Thanks paul (and stoger) !

Great setlist and very unique as you say..
Can’t Close the Door and There’s a Heaven are great songs from the new album and very cool to see Steal Your Love, Sweet Side, and my all time favorite Real Live Bleeding Fingers in the line-up!

There are those Lyons, Co dates on High Road Touring’s Page Aug 19-21

Thinking about a road trip for this festival…
High Road lists Lucinda as being there all three days (!!!) but I’m thinking it is more likely that she plays on one of the three and all three dates are listed as that is the length of the festival and they haven’t yet announced daily schedules.
    But maybe…(hoping)

Anyone ever been to this festival?

    Thanks stoger!
Interesting Lu comment…” it’s hard to make an emotional attachment to some of the new songs”..
I find that to be true, but as with most Lucinda albums also find hearing them a few times live really helps.

I’m thinking…. All the more reason to make another road trip for this tour… 8)

I don’t think this has been posted.

Recap with a multitude of pictures. Good to see Buick 6 is still autographing drum heads with siggies and words of wisdom.

Thanks for that! Very nice shots.
Particularly like the black and white with the whole band onstage.

Heard afterwards that there were 75 or so different songs played during that run..
Great residency for Lu and the band.

Really fantastic article. You can always count on the FF to bring the good stuff! The writer mentions that Lucinda is calling from “her home in Nashville”… is this new, or is the writer perhaps assuming that all musicians of Lucinda caliber reside in Nashville 8) ? Also, he refers to “Vince (!!) McCallum” as Lu’s “road guitarist” — do not disrespect Stuart, my friend! I dig this article so much.

    Caught that too, Vivian.
Heard a rumor a while back that trading in the LA digs for Nashville was a potential option.
Gotta think it was the author’s error though. Hope so, for purely selfish reasons of course, as traveling to the LA area is much easier for me. Although I’m still trying to see if I can put together a New Orleans/ Mississippi/Tennessee trip for that amazing leg of this tour 8) Great article and I agree frame worthy cover.

Real Live Bleeding, Metal Firecracker and Those Three Days would have had me undone as they say.. 8)

Heard a rumor that the Northwest is in line for the fall (Oct/Nov)…

Something about rainy fall shows in the Northwest.. (now including Bellingham!!)
Typically exceptional (especially Portland). Worth the trip!

    House of Earth
Words by Woody Guthrie, Music by Lucinda Williams
Come to my House of Earth if you would like
For me to give your old time feelings back.

Come here to my house of good rich earth if you
Would like me teach your wife a thing or two.

Come here to this legal illegal place for joys
And teach your wife this way to grow new boys.

I’ll take you by your had and show you whirls
Of these same feelings that grow pretty girls.

I’ll wash your feet a couple of times a day
Till all your old time sorrows melt away.

You leave some drops of honey on my couch
I leave a couple of dollars in your pouch.

My house of earth is the richest land in town
I pity those dead ones that at me frown.

SO come to my house of earth and learn it’s worth
A few green folded bills to learn of birth.

I’ll kiss you in such odd and natural ways
Your wife will then find out that kissing pays.

Two times a day I’ll wash you in my tub
Ten times a day I’ll pat your skin and rub.

Call me a prostitute and a whore, too,
I do these tricks your wife refuses to.

I swear by all my bibles you won’t regret
I’ve never met a man that’s sorry yet.

I love you once to teach you all your life
The things to do when you are with your wife.

Your wife should be quite glad and proud of me
For waking both of you up these things to see.

My house of earth runs down with wine and rum
Lots of different ways here you can come.

If you do come I will be glad to see
If you don’t come I’m glad you don’t need me.

I’ll furnish red hot kisses and the hole
That wakes up sleeping sickness in your soul.

    “Lost” lyrics:
    I suppose
    Old Man Trump knows

    Just how much
    Racial Hate

    he stirred up
In the bloodpot of human hearts

    When he drawed
    That color line

    Here at his
    Eighteen hundred family project

*Not sure where the additional lyrics were inserted in the live version(s) , but great additions.

Lu commented on what a great venue and crowd (perfect blend of people listening and rocking) and thanked the artists that came to see her during her residency (“such an honor..people she has admired and been influenced by” and stated that this was going to be a great night… She’s not usually known for understatements. Wow. What a finale.

    What a great week..
Thanks to everyone ( Lucinda, Tom, the Band, Vivian, Roger and “all y’all”) for helping me attend and enjoy such a great residency. Enjoy the rest of the tour for those that can make some shows.. Mike

    Enjoyed night four very much!
Enjoyed hearing Laura Cantrell open up and also play a Lucinda song which I understand (thx roger) that was from Lucinda’s “new york era” which she never recorded. Great song, and undeniably a Lucinda song.. (she should cover it 😉

LOVED Lucinda’s Foolishness revisions.. Inserting “old man trump” lines and rhyming with G-O-P… nicely done!
She talked about doing an album of them…

Also liked hearing more recollections of Nashville producers and how her songs were too dark. Faith Hill’s people apparently commissioned Lu at one time to write a song for her that was “edgy”.. Lu said that she didn’t do well with “writing on demand” and that it wasn’t like she had “songs just sitting around.. If I write something good, I want to record it”. She then did an amazing version of Can’t Close the Door.. Great song.

    …Night Five!!!

    Great report Vivian!
Nothing much to add except to echo a few of your points.
Lu seemed to be in an exceptionally good and very talkative mood last night which is always fun.

Opening the set with Are You Alright raised the bar and set the tone for the night.
Bitter Memory was also another highlife of the night.. Doors of Heaven is another great live song from the new album.

Nice cover of Woody Guthrie’s I Ain’t got No Home; Love how Lu stopped the song after the Old Man Trump line to re-sing it and point out how little has changed. She mentioned that she heard that some Bernie supporters have vowed to vote for Trump as a protest to (potentially) losing the nomination. “That’s just crazy and goes against … you gotta vote for the Democrat..” Great night.
