Mike_DoranParticipant
Always nice t see a Glimmer Twins tune make the setlist.
Have heard Buick 6 do “You Gotta Move” but would have loved to have been there to hear Lu join them..Mike_DoranParticipantMike_DoranParticipantGreat show and the hometown Seattle fans really brought the energy in the packed house.
Lu’s mood that i previously described as a bit meloncholy in Portland was much more jubilant tonight.
She also seemed genuinely pleased by the early Happy B’Day song sung by the crowd.Great to be home after traveling by plane, train, bus, and car to hit SF, Portland and Seattle shows.
Lu commented several times during that string of shows as to how a lot of her more political songs are really becoming more relevant in the current political climate, and you could really feel it in the crowd response to songs like Walk On, East Side of Town, Foolishness et al. Grateful to have been able to make the handful of shows starting innauguration day. Also grateful to stoger for the help navigating the travel and chance to see the infamous “Drunken Angel” room he was able to snag in Portland. Very cool room and I have every intention of beating him to it when Lu plays Portland next time.. 😀Mike_DoranParticipantGreat show.
From Lu”s opening remarks “no place I’d rather be” to her opening song number “You don’t Rule Me” It was clear this was going to be a special night. I’ll leave the set list to the pros but highlights for me included (the whole set really) Stand right by each other , East side of town, and Steal your Love as well as the slowed down cover of Peace Love and understanding..
Seemed like an extra long show with very little talk between songs and very little time.. looking forward to tonight !Mike_DoranParticipant” Stand Right [ “a positive love song” which she hopes to perform more] “
* Second that! Also a vote for as many “political songs” as desired.. 8)
Very much looking forward to them and catching up to the tour in SF!Mike_DoranParticipantThanks for posting that as well, Tony.
Any of the covers mentioned (Rebel Rebel, When Doves Cry, Salt of the Earth ) would be great live. Had the privilege of hearing Lu do Salt of the Earth in Portland a few years ago and have been keeping my eye out for a reprise ever since.
Was also surprised/disappointed that there were no Grammy nominations for GOHWY20, it was certainly deserving.
Mike_DoranParticipantApparently just added as the opener to Lu’s upcoming shows at The Fillmore…
(don’t see him listed at other venue’s)
Listened to a bit of his stuff including “Lucinda’s Room” on his site… looking forward to hearing him live.*edit- also opening the two Solano Beach shows.. maybe more?
Mike_DoranParticipant” Lu commented that thing’s sounded so good that she was tempted to take the band on the road.”
Yes, please. 8)
* Also- There are standards??
Mike_DoranParticipantSanta Barbara on this coming Monday would be worth the trip for those in the area…
Per FB-
“Lucinda will be joining Charles and Bill Frisell and Greg Leisz and his band the Marvels this Sunday at the wonderful Lobero Theatre in Santa Barbara this Monday evening.”Amazing night when they all played together this year at Royce Hall. Sure this will be as well..
https://www.lobero.com/events/charles-lloyd-marvels/Mike_DoranParticipantHighway20 it is! Thanks all!
Able to purchase Fillmore(s), Seattle and Portland(s) !!Mike_DoranParticipantFillmore and Belly Up also now have pre-sales for tomorrow…
Gotta find the passwords…Mike_DoranParticipantJan. 23, 24- Portland- Aladdin Theater
Jan. 25- Seattle- Neptune TheaterLu’s shows in Portland are always (extra) epic.
Just sayin’..Mike_DoranParticipantBob’s set at Desert Trip 2 (he received news of the honor in between weekends 1 & 2) was fantastic.
Part of which made it so was his joy and enthusiasm.. i was in the front row for the night and couldn’t help[ notice his near constant smiling… Great show, great festival.

Mike_DoranParticipantThanks Lafayette!
I’ve been hearing they have been on fire! Really looking forward to seeing them!A few of my friends have been speculating that they may steal the show(s) at Desert Trip.
Then I remind them the stones are going to be there, so… 8)Mike_DoranParticipantJust picked up a floor ticket to see Neil w Promise of the Real in Pomona, Ca. on Oct. 12th.
(he’s there for two nights in between Desert Trip appearances on the 8th and 15th)Will be great to see them in a much smaller venue on my way to Desert Trip where they’ll be opening up for Paul McCartney on the following (and previous) Saturday..
My DT road trip now includes two more Rolling Stones shows in Las Vegas (!!!)
Starting to go through Lu withdrawals tho… surely they all miss the NorthWest (and us fans) as well?? 🙂 -
