Ah.. “I Need” Protection.
Sure, NOW it makes sense…Thanks Roger!
PS
Keep your eye out for more concert dates coming soon (or maybe they’re already known??)A (double)posting on Lu’s Twitter and Facebook account (2 hrs ago) stated “Sorry to bombard you all with Event dates but needed to get them all up ASAP! Thanks for your patience 🙂
– Lucinda mgmt. “But on Twitter there were no other postings…on Facebook, which I don’t use, but went there to see
if any new shows were added, it appeared to just be the ones already posted here..I think maybe the post with new shows may have not gotten posted?? I’m confused…
Mike_DoranParticipantInteresting comment from Lu re perhaps changing the title of “Protection”, Roger..
Wish I had the lyrics, but as I recall it seems tough to call it anything but.
I also recall she worked the word “righteous” into it (as in “righteous enemy” (??)Sounds funny, but Lucinda has honestly helped me appreciate and use that word more.
My feeling now is, any variation of “righteous” in a Lu song, is a sure sign of a classic Lu song..Mike_DoranParticipantThanks for the timely and nicely detailed recap, Roger.. much appreciated.
After getting a little bit (again) by the Lu road trip bug this week, I was really wanting to
keep it going after Vancouver.. Your recaps are the next best thing..Happy travels.. it looks like Lu headliner shows from here on out.. excluding London.. ( i think)
Enjoy.Mike_DoranParticipant@TOverby wrote:

Hope the full band for NYC currently includes Doug!
Yes it does -Doug is on board for the rest of the year –and also will be on the new record.
After enjoying a couple concerts with him back this week, I am thrilled to hear he will
be around again for a while and on the album. It could just be me, but he seems to have even gotten better, or more relaxed/loose or something(??)
Truly inspired performances this week..

Not much to add, Mike: good reportage. “Out of Touch” was a false start, booming bass. Before song two, she modified the quote from the person who had introduced her, noting that Time mag named her “America’s best songwriter” for one year and one year only. Funny, I always thought that apt designation was for all posterity. At the end she told the nation of Canada that it “sets an example” and that it is “way ahead of us.”
Thanks to my friend Squire and his friend Carol for accompanying me and plying me with food and drink in the noticeable absence of loonies and local currency in my pocket.
Finally, the Butch is back in town.
That was my scribble that I couldn’t decipher!!
The Time magazine reference. I also thought it was for all posterity.

You’ll make an English prof. yetTNTracy: I too noticed the city misspelling, and apologies to all for my own food misspelling. And for the record, I found the stuff tasty too.
I sat by none other than Mike from Seattle, not his exact forum handle but close. We were nicely in second row, stage Pettibone, and truly row one was almost deserted all the way across. He has been in that cabin he once mentioned in Forum, no wireless access (so give him hell tony). Nice family of wife and young daughter too (she really perked up during “Out of Touch”). I didn’t meet others, but I hope we can get some more postings about aspects of the Redding show. Meanwhile, on to Canada, where Mike among others will be there too.
Nice to meet you there Roger and what a great show!
Really looking forward to the next album after being privileged to hear the few new songs in concert for the first time. The Bitter Memory song had a real “Cash” feel to it to me and I loved it.My six year old daughter Kristina (as opposed to my 30 year old one..long story) loved the show, as did my wife, Michelle.. After several 100+ degree days and two concerts at the Cascade Theatre she
(and her good behavior) barely made it through to the last song….but, she held up really well, considering.I love that she has become a real fan of Lu’s music and we have been fortunate to attend so many concerts as we have planned a few family vacations around her concerts. Most of the concerts with her have been outdoor venues as it is much easier to enjoy.
Like tomorrows in Vancouver!!Hope to track you down there and perhaps get more of a chance to chat and make intro’s…
Home for a few hours and then on to the great white north and looking forward to needing a light jacket for the show(s)!Mike_DoranParticipantVery true, Lafayette.. Catching Lu at the house of blues NO and stubbs austin last year
(and a bunch in b’tween) was the best concert attending year of my LIFE!Definitely try to string a few sows together and take advantage of the trip..
Following her up to the Vancouver Folk festival, and that may be about it for this year..How about you?
Perhaps catching a show or two as they head east ??(Not sure of the name of it, but there’s a very cool looking old school steak house in Redding
we’re going pre-show.. I’ll find it again and post..)Mike_DoranParticipantShould be a good one..
Me and my Ma Kettle got a cabin near Shasta Lake and are catching a couple shows
at the very cool looking venue..Mike_DoranParticipantHa!
Mine didn’t transfer right either…. (must be a mac thing..)Mike_DoranParticipantReally really moving song and the vocals are amazing.
Sultry lwj described them on the other thread and now tough for me to
find a better description..Speaking of the other thread.. The link here erred out for me, so here is the other thread link which
worked for me..(could just be me??)Thanks for sharing it..

I had been to the Cascade Theatre’s site and also saw no mention, but thought it looked like a
very cool venue and a likely candidate..Thanks again…
MikeYou are welcome Mike.
Tickets go on sale May 1st

You are good.. lw… real good.
I was ALL over their site after you pointed me in the right direction and didn’t find that.I did however already book a really cute cabin on Lake Shasta (15 minutes away) for a few days,
to combine a small family vacation out of it. Stopping in Portland on the way down for a couple days
to enjoy their Waterfront BluesFest (Steve Miller Band on Sunday!). And then after Redding, on to
Vancouver and another Lu performance at their Folk Festival.I just knew Redding would tie the whole thing together nicely…
Thanks again!Mike_DoranParticipantThanks so much..lwj!
