“…For a lot of these songs, I was sitting down and I picked a key that felt real relaxed, sort of like in the old days when jazz singers sat down and sang in the studio instead of belting it out all the time. They sang a little closer to the mike.”
Great line; great interview.Mike_DoranParticipantI had ONE job…..
Took the time to take notes on the set list at HSB … Only to find it was already posted here from being streamed online… Last night, I was too wedged in( front row stage Mathis) to attempt. Someone next to me took a pic of Stuarts set list copy… And then posted it to twitter BEFORE the concert… I will track a list down now π
Steve Earl joined in as did Colin Linden (Rodeo kings) . Always a good time when Lu has guests join in.
She come onstage about 10:05 ( a few attendees grew vocally impatient) and ended right about 11:50.
Started the set with Blessed, and I will (find) and post complete set list soon.. MikeMike_DoranParticipant“Catch Lucinda Williams live at Music Millennium on October 7th for her only Oregon performance of the year! Pre-Buy the album for guaranteed admission to a show that is sure to fill up quick!”[/quote]
“… her only Oregon performance of the year!”
I guess if you don’t count the Oregon Zoo just a couple months ago for starters.
I hope they don’t mean next year….Besides that, seems a shame to travel all the way to Portland and not have perform a regular show there and/or Seattle…
There I go getting greedy…. But there does seem to perhaps be a little time in the schedule. π
Mike_DoranParticipantGreat show, I finangled my way to front row stage Sutton… Crowd was really into it..
Largest “free world” chorus sing along I’ve seen in a while (if ever)..Mike_DoranParticipantSuddenly not feeling quite so super exclusive and special.. π
We’ll that’s over…
TWO Lucinda concerts in the next few days..!!!Mike_DoranParticipantViv, thanks so much for the offer, but I also learned today that my essay , including pic ; ) enabled me the opportunity to pick up a pair. Similarly, if any forum member needs one, let me know and I would be happy to pass it along..
Arrived this evening and I am looking forward to the shows!

Full schedule is released; Lucinda at 4:30 PM on Friday.
http://www.hardlystrictlybluegrass.com/2014/schedule/It may bode well for a bit longer set that there is no other artists scheduled on the “Star” stage after Lucinda…
Mike_DoranParticipantNot sure if anyone else is attending HSB, but I am really looking forward to it!
I emailed a note and am hoping to get a chance to buy a ticket to the Slims gig.
I’m traveling down by myself, and if I were to be so fortunate as to get the opportunity to buy one of these golden tickets, would be happy to pick the other one up if someone also needed just one..
MikeMike_DoranParticipantβWhat most deeply touches me in your songs is the fact that what they say is not really about you, but about the listener; this is what makes them so important to those who hear them.β-Miller Williams

Mike_DoranParticipantThanks for posting this West Words, really nice surprise!
After a couple listens, along with the live versions previously heard (I swear she wrote “It’s Gonna Rain” in / about Seattle.. first place I heard it ; ) . A few initial stand-outs for me, Stand Right By Each Other.. Walk On, Wrong Number and West Memphis, East Side of Town. Stand-outs amongst stand outs though as they truly are all quite excellent.
I agree with antitomic’s astute comments re the political songs.
West Memphis and East Side Of Town are instant classics and up to the minute current at the same time..Can’t say enough about the album..

I took the word **Toronto** out of the heading so now it’s more generic.
I originally put it in since I have had a long Lu dry spell and got a little excited.
Nov.11′ in Buffalo (met Lefty) and Mar. 11′ in Toronto (met stoger & Paul from Los Angeles)
Tickets go on sale on Friday at Massey Hall in Toronto. This will be my 3rd time seeing Lucinda at this historic venue.
Will be great to see the KB band as openers.
lwjOf al the places on my bucket list still left to visit, Toronto is near the top. My ex was born there, but we never made the trip.. My mother-in-law also born there referred to it as “Toronna” and I have heard others refer to it as Torono..
I likely will make the trip one of these days and also Montreal.. A dream trip would be to combine a Rolling Stones concert (they LOVE Toronto) and a Lu gig the same week as I was able to pull off in New York late 2012..
It could happen… π
If this is your first time catching the KB Band, you are in for a treat.. Nice to see them back on the ticket..

Go back and read the review of the Morristown, NJ show from the MorristownGreen.com ( If I knew how to operate a computer, I would paste it here ) Funny? Ironic? A$$ful? ( new word? feel free to use it )

Mike_DoranParticipantThe Steve Earl penned “Christmas in Washington”.
2nd choice(actually third, but it sounds like it is going to be a cover)… “Christmas (Baby Please come Home)”.

These dates look to be complete. There might be a couple Florida shows around Cayamo. The west and northwest and possibly the 2nd World Tour Of LA are on the drawing board for Feb.
Well then.
Nashville is definitely leading the options…And the new year is already looking up!
Mike_DoranParticipantWest Coast has dibs on October and December…
Besides that, Nashville for three in a row would give one plenty to be thankful for….
