so Murph do we have any. . . LETTERS AND WORDS to go with this, or are these things passe? Were you there to say which songs were done in the second set? Thanks for posting these photos.

@Stoger: Sure I have some thoughts about the show. It’s always great to see Lucinda but this was not the best experience I’ve had and I didn’t really want to be negative. I’m a concert photographer and I usually just let my photos speak for themselves, good or bad.

I had never been to this venue before. The design puts you below ground level, kind of in a bowl. It was HOT and there was no breeze. It was somewhat unpleasant, more so than a normal September day in Texas. The sound was excellent, no matter what part of the venue I wandered to. I was glad to get out of there. I really like the fact that it’s a BYOB venue and they allowed food and coolers, as well as having concessions for those who came empty-handed.

The performance was extremely mellow for the first hour while she played most or all of the new album. Nothing earthshattering in my opinion. The second half was a lot more upbeat with familiar selections so my mood changed for the better, but by this time I was soaked. By the time it had ended I was somewhat disappointed that Gravel Road was missing.

Overall I would say that this was a mediocre evening. I’ve been to many Lucinda shows over the years that were a lot more fun, exciting and memorable. The January/13 gig in Dallas at The Kessler was awesome.

I hope that gives you an idea.

Here are some more photos from January, if you’re interested: http://www.flickr.com/photos/raymondmurphy/sets/72157632550901044/
