RainydaymanParticipant
Sweet!!!
RainydaymanParticipantEnjoy the show Jeff.
RainydaymanParticipantThe show was freakin’ awesome. I was seated in the orchestra pit. The sound in the theater was pristine. “Jambalaya” was indeed cool. Lu re-told the story of Roger, the Viet Nam vet, when she introduced the song “Are You All Right. The first song was just Lu, Chet, and Eric. Then for “Jambalaya” Butch played a single snare drum with brushes, standing close to the front of the stage. David played the upright bass on a few songs and even played it with the bow on one of them. I wish I could remember which one. Later on Chet also played pedal steel, keyboard, and harmonica. This was the first time I heard some of the earlier tunes live and they were beautiful.
The venue was great and the ushers were relaxed. The local micro beer they served was very high gravity. People were allowed into the pit to dance.
RainydaymanParticipantHey Tom,
Were you referring to me about the setlists? I’m pleased with the new setlists. I like to see Lucinda mix it up. Thanks for the info.See you in a few hours in Greensboro.
Rainydayman
RainydaymanParticipantI’ll see you all in the orchestra pit.
PS, those Natty Green micro brews they sell at the Theater are very strong (beware)
RainydaymanParticipantNice review LaFayette. Nice recent setlists, very different than last year’s setlists…….than even this summer’s. This is great.

RainydaymanParticipantI think it’s “Badass”
RainydaymanParticipantI have to agree with DavidInMaine on the “ham sandwich” comment. There are many great nuggets of info and fun trivia on this forum, and some really keen and provocative observations…….but often we have to wade through some “ham sandwich” comments to get to the good stuff.
RainydaymanParticipantOf course the notion of a “mismatch of setlists to venue to audience” is valid. It really happens. And while artists do have bad nights they can also have great nights fueled by the energy from the crowd. That really happens too.
RainydaymanParticipantRoger had a pretty long 15 minutes of fame. A friend in Norway said Lucinda talked about Roger while performing in Oslo a couple of months later.
RainydaymanParticipantI’ll see you guys in the pit. Remember the “Roger the Vietnam Vet” show in Greensboro September 2007?

I saw Lucinda there in 2007, Tom. The Carolina Theatre is a beautiful venue.
Yep, that was the Viet Nam vet “Roger” show. Three of the “Lu in 08” songs were recorded that night Tim.

So, anyone thinking of taking in the Greensboro, NC show? At 5 hours drive from home, I’m considering it…
Tom
