I believe with the memory challenge response from Sidmo, the set list is accepted as written! Can’t see the first necessary edit.

Nice 16-song (90 minute) set for the festival headliner. No complaints about the song selections at all from my vantage point, but I do wonder about the absence of GOHW20. I just knew she would chat us up about the song origin and the location of the festival considering Meridian is actually on HW20! But, alas, not to be.

I got nervous for a moment with the frog-in-the-throat coughing hesitation during Can’t Let Go. No cause for alarm, though. Show energy kept blazing without a hitch.

Lu’s biggest smile of the night was when she turned her attention to the toddlers in the arms of parents down front stage right during GRWG. The little kids were clapping and she started right in with them to encourage them along. Sweet moment.

Festival curfew got us at 10:05.

    On to Nashville…

Couldn’t categorize Dust as a rocker. (Think “Are You Down” or “Are You Alright” feeling.)
Just my take on it. Individual results may vary – as they say.

TNT and Sarah were with us both Atlanta nights, but saw no other luminaries from this fan base.

…and a real treat to see Matt Blake called up for one with the KBB. Totally unexpected for me.

As folks enjoy the upcoming shows, perhaps we need some thanks to the bus driver(s)? of the Metal Firecracker, for back-to-back nightly excursions:

Bristol, TN to Glenside, PA: 552 miles, at least 8 hours per Google Maps
Glenside, PA to Nashville, TN: 821 miles, at least 12 hours per Google Maps

Maybe a Metal Airbus would be welcome…

Spoke to bus driver Reggie mid-afternoon at the hotel before the show that night. He seemed spry and wide awake but had plans for some cat napping before their a.m. departure. When I mentioned something about Red Bull, he was quick to let me know he doesn’t do that. He’s tougher than me! I’d need loads of “help” to do what he does.
We spent more time talking football (he’s Knoxville, I’m Birmingham) than his profession. Real nice guy.
I agree with your post. Many kudos to those working so hard behind the scene to make our enjoyment of these shows the thrill that it is.

Were you by chance that other grey haired man at the front? I was that tall grey haired man right in front of Stu, with only 1 person standing between me and that security railing. A lot of the people we met at the festival didn’t have a clue who Lucinda was, but were still interested in seeing her. I bet Lu gained some new fans last night.

Roger, I was looking for you. I missed James McMurtry.

Grey haired? Oh that hurts! I guess I’m getting closer to that all the time.
I was square in front of Lu, arms on the rails. I think I remember seeing you over there – with a couple of girls between us. Was the VIP Seen magazine photographer lady immediately to your left?
I agree she for sure gained some fans and respect that night.

Lu nailed it and was smiling all night, dutifully ignoring some of the inebriated chicks continuing their personal social time during the beginning numbers of the show. Didn’t last long though.
Overall, a very good crowd. These mountain folks sure know Lu.

Personal highlights were Cross To Bear and Rocking in the Free World. Don’t think I’ve seen Lu sing with such soul during Cross To Bear. Wow, she really let go.

The only downer of the evening was not hooking up with any FF buddies! I thought for sure a front and center stance would guarantee renewed hellos, but no. Stayed around until near 1:00 a.m. When we had to rush for the last shuttle bus.

A “much livelier crowd” the second night???????????? Thanks a lot, railroad! 😀 I bet you didn’t have a dancecrasher a la the “Essence” chick to deal with up front night two. . . . See you in the second best Tri-City Friday.

Ouch! Didn’t mean to imply the wrong thing. It was in spite of your absense, not because of it.
Nope, no crazy dancecrasher like night #1 or the drunk chick screaming “Are You Alright” all night.
I impressed (I hope) on Lu and Tom how cool it would be for a Jim Lauderdale “let me bring a friend up for the next song” moment Friday night. Hope that happens.

Good to meet “vmorris” (not her exact handle) from this Forum, also to see Randy & Kathy from Alabama (Randy gives a shout-out to tntracy). I believe Randy’s front-row brow is visible in that photo.

That “brow” of mine is looking more like “skull” every day!

Guess I missed the “title track” to Little Honey. Sounds like it would be a great song. 😆

    Tipitina’s #2

    1 Can’t Let Go
    2 Metal Firecracker
3 Car Wheels. One and only restart of the night. (set list alternate – Right in Time)
    4 Pineola
    5 Crescent City
    6 Jackson
7 Bus to Baton Rouge (“Some good memories, some bad – but that’s how families are.”)
    8 Lake Charles
    9 2 Kool
10 Trying to Get to Heaven (set list alternate – I Lost It)
11 Drunken Angel (she describes these types as “beautiful losers”)
    12 Blessed
    13 Out of Touch
14 Righteously (with a story about finding this in a karaoke bar song book, and singing it!)
    15 Joy
    16 Honey Bee

    LMHOF induction

    17 Nothin’ in Ramblin’
18 I Lived My Life (a 1954 Fats Domino song)
19 Jambalaya (w/Lillie Mae from KBB)
20 Get Right With God (w/KBB)

    * Note eight out of thirteen “Car Wheels” songs. Hmmm….

KBB gets better all the time. Great set as usual. Don’t forget these guys after the Lu tour is over!

First night had about 50 people outside when the doors open at 7:00. Last night was only about 10. Had me wondering for a moment. Room filled before the music began, though. A note about the crowd – much livelier than the first night. Plenty of generous feedback to Lu all night. Deafening noise trying to get her back for the encore. It was obvious Lu appreciated it. Between Jambalaya and GRWG, she said “I feel like a little girl at my birthday party”.
Excellent show – Lu in a great mood all night.

A quick Lu/Tom/Stu meet and greet on the sidewalk after the show really capped off another memorable night.
    On to Bristol…
