among the shouted requests I heard to my left and right (and eventually to my front) throughout the evening were “Things Have Changed,” “Righteous,” and “Saint Charles.”

“y’all don’t know you can come up front and dance?” A few souls moved forward to timidly sit on the bales of hay between the plush row one seats and the stage proper, prompting tour manager Eric Frankenhouser to tap them on the shoulder and motion for them to rise and holler. This, the same man who had practically tackled a photographer early set who was grazing the same area.

    stoger, you’re a funny man.

I walked into Haralds at the tv at the bar was tuned to Fox News. Uh-oh. Not in California any more.

tony, don’t be jealous. you’re funny too.

    KangAroos, mate.

sorry, we don’t have this weird animal in brazil, so i etnocentrically reserve the right to have no clue about its spelling. 🙂

Steve and Lucinda then treated the crowd to a duet of You’re Still Standing There from Earle’s 1996 album, I Feel Alright. Earle explained that the song was written with Lucinda in mind (she sang on the studio version too).

PLEASE, tell me that somebody taped this!?!

I spent most of my time along the wall with one or all of my 3 kids (6, 8 & 10) so we could dance etc – but get this – some lady came and told me that I should leave with my children because she thinks it was an R18 venue 😡 Anyhow she was wrong, but it put a dampener on my night, especially when I know Lucinda likes to see people dancing and having a good time.

will you be my mommy, ma’am?

forgot completely about the 2009 australian tour. i thought the ’93 was the last one. i just keep wondering if they deserve another one after just 3 years, but that’s me being mean. sorry, kangoroos.

all the luck in australia. in sydney, should you have freetime, try to drive to the blue mountains. never been there but the pics sure are inviting – and plane tickets sure are prohibiting.

    melbourne’s setlist, please!

one of the biggest rock bands in the land

land being the u.s. / australia /or/ world?

but i can’t wait to see the youtube videos from the tour. apparently the australian/kiwi crowds are less zombied and overly motionless than the european counterparts.

be careful in sydney. their murderous metropolitan police killed a 21yo brazilian student over a package of cookies a few weeks back with an electric shock gun. and there’s no proof that he actually stole it.

imagine that, leaving rio to be murdered in sydney, aguarbly the “”””civilized”””” version of south america’s crowning work of art.

mr. overby, how nice of you. thanks.

i’ll see what i can do. i mean, there’s people bringing the bizarre and prolific and genius john zorn (+ masada) to brazil (rio/são paulo), argentina (buenos aires) and chile (santiago) in march. i think i’ll start by talking to them.

but keep in mind that rio works as a solid holiday destination. i’m sure you’ve heard about how monumentally gorgeous this city is. talk to your travel agent. 🙂

not a bad list. gillian, sam phillips, magnetic fields, matthew sweet, son volt.

in the spirit of 90-albums-from-the-90s i’m hugely anticipating paste’s top 0 album from the 00s.
