punchdrunkloveParticipant
even copenhagen would have been a wiser choice.
1 year later, buttercup still seems totally out of touch (actually out of every single one of the 5 senses) with the rest of BLESSED for me, but that doesn’t mean the album isn’t terrific (it is) or the song isn’t great (it is).
punchdrunkloveParticipantmost bizarre thing i’ve ever seen, and i’ve seen my share of crazy stuff.
punchdrunkloveParticipantthat’s a crude literal translation. i hope you enjoy the movie, i find it breathtaking.

since you think i’m funny (much obliged!), i feel like sharing one of my blogs, in which i post cards created by me over at someecards.com. the whole design is theirs, the words are mine. they’re mostly written in english (95%) and i think they’re very creative and kinda awesome and extremely weird (my thing): http://semionatoecards.blogspot.com.br/
(caveat emptor: click only if you’re strong enough to navigate through its occasional classlessness, crudeness, unpleasantness. to me, the trashier they are the more delightful is the pay-off; there’s something interesting, in my opinion, in mixing nice wordplay, sophisticated use of language – for a foreigner, please – with embarrassing/crude/risqué stuff. not all cards are acid/horrific, some of those are actually cute/poetic/extremely melancholic, now good luck finding them.)
card #199, e.g., is me being inappropriately playful towards a verse of lucinda’s stowaway in your heart. forgive me, lucinda!
~~shameless self-promotion’s over~~
punchdrunkloveParticipantgreat movie, and i’m not the biggest fan of the coen bros. remember the scene in which there’s a mob and a gangster? they set this sequence to john hartford’s (I LOVE THIS MAN) ‘indian war whoop’.
just electrifying.
punchdrunkloveParticipantyou’re in for a much bigger treat than lucinda’s stripped-down version of JT. 😀
punchdrunkloveParticipanthave you seen PDL, tom? it’s very different than the usual/typical adam sandler vehicle/mess/fare. it’s a movie from an auteur that adapted himself/the movie especially for the big (and dumb) movie star. or do you think i REMOTELY LIKE any other adam sandler movie? PDL is something else, a special, mysterious, cosmic, lovin’ beast. it changed my life.
jailhouse tears only fully (please, please, please) convince(d) me after hearing the demo (thanks dude-on-this-forum-that-shall-remain-nameless that sent me the file), which is so. much. better. if you never heard it, you’re in for a treat.
punchdrunkloveParticipantit didn’t work with BS player, itunes and VLC. for some reason i thought she’d be performing those songs live. i can’t help but feel slightly underwhelmed. and, come on, how can this such a GREAT show if it includes jailhouse tears and not every other LW song? [silly song, sorry]

YES! the adam sandler movie. it’s perhaps my favorite movie ever, i’ve seen it countless times and i basically worship everything about it. but it’s such a silly username. it was the first i could think of (yeah, before even my NAME), maybe because i rewatched the movie a few days before registering here in 2009. thing is: i registered just to bully lucinda into transferring her ongoing 2009 int’l tour from europe (bleh) to south america (yeah), so i didn’t care about choosing a beautiful, enigmatic, latin-infused username. but i somehow decided to stay and become respectful of lucinda’s inclination towards the old world, a non-brat, polite, loving member. and now, roughly 3 years later, i’m your favorite brazilian person worldwide after pelé, lula and a really hot model of your preference. and my written english is more sophisticated than most americans my age, and i’m not blind to the fact that my 450 posts here are partly responsible for that small miracle. 🙂
punchdrunkloveParticipantthanks, L. but i couldn’t listen to it. an m3u file of just 46b opens up. there’s nothing to it!
punchdrunkloveParticipantNO. i missed it too, damn it.
friday night, ya know. it’s hard.
punchdrunkloveParticipanta friend pointed to me that the percussion section of the song is reminiscent of ‘broken butterflies’, and i can see that, actually. (and he agrees with me that the vocals are somewhat kiss like your kiss-y.)
still a very nice song. went to bed, woke up, listened to it again: still up there.
punchdrunkloveParticipant[off-topic]
lucinda sould cover ‘into my arms’ someday, someway. for a song that starts with a bizarre, clunky verse such as ‘i don’t believe in an interventionist god’ the rest is pretty much Heaven.
punchdrunkloveParticipantthat’s the link. the one posted here is broken.

punchdrunkloveParticipantreally great. you’re wife is awesome, tom!
very serene and dark, minimal and graceful, so graceful. and i agree that there’s nothing quite like it in her catalogue, but there are songs in BLESSED that have this ‘feel’, such as born to be loved/kiss like your kiss minus the repetitions/circular structure.
this song seemed like straight out of nick cave’s THE BOATMAN’S CALL. (a high compliment.)
and i never heard of this guy before. i’ll correct that.
punchdrunkloveParticipantWAIT. i’m confused.
EDT time is 4 hours behind greenwhich/GMT, right?
so, if i’m 3 hours behind in rio the show will be at 9pm. is that it?
punchdrunkloveParticipantnot to be missed! 2 hours of LW are better than 2 hours of almost everything.
