i think it is a snub. but while i’m saying this i’m not mad at anyone! or angry!! or willing to never post anything here ever again!!! just slightly puzzled.
and i don’t think this has to do with people being busy, they did not bother. and it’s not because i started this thread, i don’t take it personally, i’m sure that if any of you started something like this it would still amount to zero reply.
and i did not understand the “our attentions are drawn in so many different directions with all the various forms of media and entertainment available…” argument. this is a thread just like any other on the forum, but the thing is that 98% of the other threads get replies and i think this one deserved 100 of them.
punchdrunkloveParticipantweird. i live in a city with the bluest sky of the world (yes, it’s cientifically proven) with some barbarian stuff happening under it. it’s weird to be mugged or shot when the sky is clear and the sun is warm. doesn’t make any sense.
is the hurricanes threat over for now?

seriously, this is maybe the FIRST official fan forum in the world in which a topic like that gets snubbed. people are so much more willing to share stories elsewhere.
am i asking too much? i wish this forum was open to ‘games’ like a competitions between songs in every LW album (it is fun and it brings a good deal of debate) or that people woud post their imaginary & perfect setlists (up to 30 songs and with 4 encores, because there’s so much amazing stuff & because it would never happen), but obviously any of you are open to that. i can’t figure it out. it’s silly, but a fan forum should embrace silliness, stories and memories, not just reviews from the new album & reports from shows that only a handful of you are able to attend.
my 2 cents.
punchdrunkloveParticipantthe thing i really like about SB is “did you wax the deck to make it easier to slip”. maybe the single best lyric in the whole album for me.
punchdrunkloveParticipantyou’re right, it’s not always that “obvious” as this time around BUT
i’m weird, so i’m willing to say that “can’t let go”, “right in time” & “pineola” (songs from the 1st half of some recent setlists) are mellow ones, for example. maybe because the first two are from the beloved (by rolling stone, by me, by the world) car wheels album, it’s hard for a rocker song to stay that way after you’ve listened to it a thousand times (joy is a different story). fond memories smooth and soften everything.
and the classic heavy-weighters are always on the 2nd half (honey bee, joy, change the locks, bleeding fingers, buttercup, righteously, come on, unsuffer me, those three days), so i think there’s a division and it’s even more evident now than in the 2009-10 setlists. i can see that not only looking at the setlists but listening to bootlegs.
but i’m not complaining! it’s just curiosity. i can’t imagine how something like…
BLUE
WRAP MY HEAD AROUND THAT
MAMA YOU SWEET
ATONEMENTcould be… uh, fitting.
punchdrunkloveParticipantterrific, terrific 1st set. but i’m always curious why you don’t mix the rockers with the slowers/softers songs. sets are always clearly divided between amazing & quiet and amazing & loud.

to my mind the best live version of over time is from jools holland:
punchdrunkloveParticipant15th!
christgau’s review is a must read. the four stars are a mistake. the review was printed with 4.5*, but christgau himself wanted to go with 5*. his enthusiasm was curbed by the magazine editors (so he tells on his site).
it’s sad, i know.
punchdrunkloveParticipant… and then there’s awakening, which may as well be the official “spellbinding” track from blessed.
punchdrunkloveParticipantkiss like your kiss is my new favorite. my heart is generous when it comes to this album and it decided to consider blessed & sweet love as top-tiers as well.
but kiss like your kiss. . . that’s the stand-out. by the way, KLYK & SL are 2 of the most underplayed songs from the album on concerts. how come???
punchdrunkloveParticipantoh, i asked because i like this song A LOT and because i read somehere you were trying to give it a new… sound? (the same with steal your love). well, good luck!
punchdrunkloveParticipant“look out, your zipper’s gonna break.”
it’s not that i don’t like WRAP. i don’t know, it’s just lesser (& kinda silly). goes forever without any momentum or surprise. doesn’t have any bite, and those OOOOH *agressive* LW songs are everything but biteless.
trivia time: AMERICAN DREAM & ATONEMENT are the only LW songs i dislike. i’m a philistine!
punchdrunkloveParticipantit’s a .flac file. maybe you gotta install a new codec pack in order to open it (i use bsplayer, it’s wonderful). or you could download a converter to get a mp3 version (lame!) out of the great lossless version (yeah).
take a look at this << http://flac.sourceforge.net/download.html
punchdrunkloveParticipanthow about LHTL? did it sound different?
punchdrunkloveParticipantyes, some mighty turbulent times for birds, when hurtful ex-lovers invade their nests and rest their heads on leaves of gold.
(it’s fun going through lucinda’s lyrics.)
punchdrunkloveParticipantbtw, i’m loving this STEAL YOUR LOVE love. and nice to see those three days, another underplayed song.
