thanks, cindy!
September 1, 2014 at 2:15 am in reply to: Stowaway In Your Heart streaming on NPR All Songs Considered #53384punchdrunkloveParticipanti’ve been listening to this nonstop. it’s such a GOOD song.
punchdrunkloveParticipantTD is stunning. i remember when lucinda had songs in TRUE BLOOD, and i thought “how can anyone allow beauties like lake charles and kiss like your kiss on a shitty, mindless show”.
but TD is a different beast entirely. it’s a MASTERPIECE.

punchdrunkloveParticipanthappy new year, folks.
i’ve created a 20-song compilation for welcoming 2014. i’m shooting for a lighthearted year.
lots of fantastic brazilian tracks and the sweetest lucinda song ever.

punchdrunkloveParticipantwhere can i find the list of songs from the second disc? curious about them.
20 seconds later: found it.
punchdrunkloveParticipant(a better release would be every version possible of SIDE OF THE ROAD. i can live without the other songs.)
punchdrunkloveParticipantthe old cover is approximately one hundred times better but that’s no detriment to this luminous release. the best reissue of SOMETHING maybe ever?
congratulations.
punchdrunkloveParticipanttell us more about this 19-minute song, please. and if possible!
punchdrunkloveParticipantcar wheels is the only possible answer to this question. 🙂
punchdrunkloveParticipanti guess the 1989 concert is more relaxed and an all around terrific experience. the 98 one is awesome.
here, the first video out of five comprising her third (i guess) appearance on ACL, from 2007: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZ3nKt0poac
be sure to check the last one, for ‘west’. one of the very best videos around.
punchdrunkloveParticipantyeah. i really don’t wanna do this. what’s the point, right?
but after creating the topic i realized that listening to lucinda in 2008 and doing that in 2013 are completely different experiences. actually, i don’t listen to lw nearly as much as i did before, but doing it now seems more nuanced and fresher than before. lw changed me in ways that i will never be able to account for. she was a major source of inspiration, and now she’s not exactly that, she assumed a much more soulful role: she’s a focal point for me to reassess who i was 5 years ago. listening to her songs again or talking to my best and oldest friends give me the same vibe. each song is a piece of time, it’s nice to know that you can be engaged with it in multiple aways. again, an obvious assessment, but also a major compliment, since that only happens when you really admire the singer/songwriter in question and let his/her songs grow with you.
jeez! i guess i kinda did this. and you must know that i love being part of this fan forum. very delightful. except for the fact that we are 5 years older. that sucks.
punchdrunkloveParticipanti’m happy about the 86 demos. yeah! the album versions are so much better, but those are lovely. it’s a pity that we don’t have a demo for ‘side of the road’. (as far as i’m concerned, and i hope i’m mistaken.)
i guess car wheels also deserved some celebration, call it a ‘quinceañera special edition’. we need one with the gurf morlix demos and the very rare, very special nashville demos. can you do it by christmas? 🙂
