totally forgot to get back here and give you a straight anwer, but:

    1. smooth
    2. post-CW
    3. folk/blues

although i fail to see an “era” in each of those. i’ll get back here in a few days/weeks to give you a proper answer.

At least here in sweden it’s just a fact of life, people download illegaly, at least 30 percent of the swedish population does.

    everybody does.

the beautiful thing is that you and I proceeded to buy those releases eventually. for me the whole process of getting clean took 2,5 years – and i’m still missing a couple of cds. no shame in getting to know stuff. shame in loving stuff and not being righteous, though.

btw, ‘side of the road’ looks more and more to be the LW’s masterpiece in my opinion. i mean, this is a heartwrenching and immensely relatable song and i was discussing it with a friend that went to amsterdam for her master’s and left her boyfriend of 4 years, also my friend, behind in rio. so you see.

i was in curitiba these past few days, a southeastern town in brazil that greeted me with freezing temperatures of 1 to 6 oC and made me remember how life is not really fun anywhere too far from the equator line.

anyway, i went to the music/dvd section of a bookstore and then what song welcomed me? lake charles. of course i knew they weren’t playing car wheels, but the awesome s1 soundtrack of godawful true blood tv show. they even had one LW album there: sweet old world. already had it, but bought it again because i found to be thrilling to listen to lucinda for the 1st time in a brazilian public space.

btw, anyone here like son volt? another compilation have superb, cry-out-loud versions of windfall & the picture.

    just sayin’.

glorious version. i downloaded it somewhere and find a bit unfortunate that, being a track in a released album, i can’t post it here.

i always think that it’s sad to let rarities like this die, esp. among fans.

    loved the video.

never mind, people, here’s a videoclip for right in time, featuring boring, tepid couples, paris (the city of love, zzzz), some ugly beaches, all cheesy, romantic stuff.

the song is insanely good and somehow manages to stay afloat in this saccharine slide show.

quite possibly the second most heartfelt lucinda cover.

fact: kate wolf was a genius. her album featuring here in california – CLOSE TO YOU – is gold.

Lu’s vocals on “Dedicated to the one I love” have never sounded more rich and impressive.

i second that. i really second that.
