    rarity.

isn’t it wonderful when the love of some people for some artists (this guy for byrne/talking heads) actually HELPS people that love OTHER artists?

Is there an Occupy Rio movement? How much attention is it getting?

not really. optimism (blindness) all around. political consciousness was never a forte in brazil. and now that the country is booming, the currency is strong, inflation is down, unemployment rate is low, more & more (& more!) oil found in ther deep waters of the south atlantic ocean, that rio is getting tidier, safer and less grizzly* i don’t think there is one in motion. but i’ve been following the press on Occupy WS movement since that incident in the brooklyn bridge.

*and this process is kinda ruining the city’s colorful, dazzling, messy character. right time to visit is NOW, before the city gets so safe you can actually walk around without being held-up at gun-point.

great, but i prefer mercy mercy me (the ecology). it aged much, much nicer. if ecology isn’t on the forefront as one of the most urgent matter of our times, look around. the world is falling apart.

some protest song by iris dement (there’s a wall in washington, maybe?).

and i’d trade AMERICAN DREAM (sorry, AD, i’m not fond of ya) . . .

Got a friend with a needle stuck in his arm
He got hooked on heroin in Vietnam
It used to help kill the pain some of the time
Now I can’t sleep at all since I got back home

. . . for john prine’s SAM STONE. someday someone will make a poll asking which is the best verse ever written in english and “there’s a hole in daddy’s arm/ where all the money goes” would get the prize if it depended on me. 🙂

i show lucinda videos to friends and never got “is this the lyrics book? how disheartening” as a reaction. if it makes the artist comfortable, you don’t question it.

moreover, WW’s point is pretty valid: more variety in the setlists.

    i’m happy LW apologized.

    but

Should fans hope for your happiness because they appreciate your music or for your unhappiness so that you keep a perceived edge in your work?

this way of phrasing was extremely rude. should fans hope for your happiness/unhappiness. doesn’t make any sense, and it’s cruel in its nonsenseness. hardly a fan will ever think of his/her favorite artist this way.

    suggestions:

    1. open some of the next concerts with I JUST WANTED TO SEE YOU SO BAD. there’s no other song like it and it barely made an appearance this year.

    2. KISS LIKE YOUR KISS & SWEET LOVE. my #1 & 2 songs of the new album.

    3. seeing PRICE TO PAY is wonderful on the latest setlists, but there’s so much more to love on the 88 album: ABANDONED, AM I TOO BLUE, LIKE A ROSE, BRS BLUES. plus (obv.): SIDE OF THE ROAD, but that one is frequently played.

    4. REAL LOVE + HOT BLOOD.

    5. WEST and/or WHERE’S MY LOVE.

i have to inform that i caught both “puncuation” and “use” and don’t think this is a positive & constructive environment for my english.

    🙂

btw, i’m always terrified at the sight of commas inside quotation marks. i know it’s the norm there but i think it’s aesthetically repulsive.

“Those 3 Days,” “Come On,” and “Essence”.

    or

“Those 3 Days”, “Come On”, and “Essence”.

    you can’t compare.

“Those Three Days” was perhaps the highlight of the night. The song is a Dylanesque put-down of a former lover, and Williams’ phrases snapped out in sneers, her voice sometimes growling. The band finished big and hot, and Williams replied to the crowd’s cheers by saying, “Everybody seems to like that song.”

there’s one reason why everybody adores those three days – and it ain’t a happy reason.

there’s only one thing you should worry about kids/concerts: hearing. earplugs all the way, please.

thank god we’re old & we’re dying soon, so we should go for the noise.

i think i’d a much better man by now had i been exposed to ESSENCE, the song, as a 5-7 year-old kid.
