Thanks to everyone who said such nice things…I’ve been a big Lucinda fan for years, at least since Car Wheels, and Petty’s version of “Change the Locks” and Emmylou/Neil’s “Sweet Old World”. First shows were seeing her open for Dylan in 1998 and Petty in 1999 at the Fillmore.

I took my girlfriend…er, fiance…to see Lucinda at the Oakland Art and Soul Fest last year (I had also been to the Paramount Theatre show earlier that year), and she was appropriately blown away.

I wanted to include a concert in the whole proposal thing and the only other performer who would have been just as perfect would have been John Prine…who doesn’t seem to be playing in Northern CA this fall.

I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect night than the Mountain Winery show, so I’m thrilled it worked as well as it did. The sound in that place is just off the hook…the new material is great, Buick 6 kicks ass, and it was tons of fun to hear “Long Way To The Top” at the end…I had been reading about how great the version was, but heard it live for the first time.

    Anyway, thanks again!

I proposed to my girlfriend at this show! She said yes!

We had dinner at the Mountain Winery terrace, and while Buick 6 was on stage, and while we were having dessert, I popped the question and busted out the diamond ring.

Then we got to go to our seats and watch Lucinda & CO. just rock the house. Very memorable night!
