Thanks, tonyg, for the setlist. Note that Lucinda actually started at 930–tony may have slipped a digit on his smartphone.

Very entertaining show for about 150 people sitting in the back room at McCabes.

In keeping with the acoustic surroundings, the Kenneth Brian Band performed without drums, played their guitars a bit quieter, and utilized more Lillie Mae on vocals and fiddle.

On the Facebook page for the Kenneth Brian Band, there is a short video of the mellower KBB performing Saturday night at McCabes. I believe this video was filmed by the McCabes house photographer.

Lucinda started with lots of upright bass from David Sutton; drums were silent until Butch Norton joined on-stage for Pineola.

I am presuming the song that Lucinda introduced as “West Memphis” is the song listed by stoger for Solana Beach as “That’s the Way We Do Things in Memphis.” The song tonight was entirely about the West Memphis 3.

Correct, Lafayette. “Stand Right” is a new song, and was debuted last night.
Also, for this tour, “Buttercup”, “Right in Time”, and “Those 3 Days” had their first appearances.

Thanks, tonyg, for the setlist. I was preparing my version of the setlist, but I was delayed watching the Haden Triplets on Conan TV. (The Haden Triplets perform at the Bootleg in Los Angeles in about 19 hours this Friday night).

For Lucinda’s show, Gia Ciambotti joined on-stage for vocals, starting at Pineola, and remaining for most of the songs.

“Stand Right” at #7 in the setlist is a new song.

in reply to: Echoplex Setlist #52664

stoger, I viewed that “World Without Tears” was listed by bigsubi as the 7th song at Saint Rocke.

    in reply to: Troubadour #52592

Also, Gia Ciambotti joined on-stage for vocals on the last 3 songs.

Thanks to the Troubadour for a VIP Loft pass–I had forgotten about the Loft in my earlier note. Good place to sit between songs–but folks do tend to chatter during the music.

My next show will be the Echoplex. I believe Victor and Mercedes will attend Hermosa Beach and Pomona.

Just a note from a different perspective: unless you want a seat upstairs or at the bar, or unless you’re passionate about standing at the front of the stage, there’s no particular reason to stand in-line before the doors open. Per the Troubadour website, Lucinda’s set-time is 9:30.

You can arrive anytime before 9:30, and obtain a reasonable (though imperfect) standing location.

Very entertaining 3-hour show, featuring many outstanding acts, each performing 2-3 songs, and then introducing the next act.

For me, the highlight was the Haden Triplets, performing “Single Girl, Married Girl” and “Will You Miss Me When I’m Gone?”, joined on guitars by Ry Cooder and T-Bone Burnett. The Haden Triplets new album, produced by Ry Cooder, debuts on Feb. 4 on Third Man Records, founded by Jack White. In the audience was actor Jack Black, husband of triplet Tanya Haden.

Rodney Crowell read an emotional letter from Don Everly, who was not present. The letter declared that Don was still in mourning for Phil, and thanked the audience and the Americana Music Association for the event.

Earlier, some fine bluegrass music from nominees Della Mae and James King.
Some brilliant music from multi-nominee Sarah Jarosz.
Sparkling performances from Rodney Crowell, Jim Lauderdale, Bonnie Raitt, and Joe Henry.

Blake Mills, a favorite of this forum, played guitar with 3/5 of his Dawes band.

For those in Los Angeles, note the Haden Triplets are performing at the Bootleg Theater, on Friday evening, Feb. 28, currently a night of rest for Lucinda, between the dates at the Canyon Club & McCabe’s.

Here is a link to another forum with a picture, short video, and more details of the Haden Triplets album.

Whole Foods is diagonally across the street from Waterloo. Lots of Cabernet…

Be aware that typical Waterloo 5 PM in-store performances have an entrance line starting at 4 PM, with priority wristbands for those purchasing the featured media earlier that day. It might be naive to arrive at 5 without a priority wristband, and expect prompt entrance and a good viewing point.

Shannon McNally is currently performing an almost-solo mini-tour of the Northeast USA.

I attended her brilliant performance last Saturday night in Montclair, NJ., at the Art Garage, a small studio in downtown Montclair. The show was warmly received by a sold-out audience of about 50-70 people. Shannon performed for 2 hours (including intermission) with acoustic guitar, accompanied on electric guitar by James Mastro, local guitar hero from nearby Hoboken.

Shannon returns to her Long Island birthplace on Wednesday night, Nov. 13, at the Grey Horse Tavern in Bayport.

Thanks, tonyg, for the setlist. I attended the show, along with Forum contributors stoger, Jstreet, stellablueee, tonyg, and grumpymama.

The band featured David Sutton on bass, Butch Norton on drums, Stuart Mathis on guitars stage-left, and Greg Leisz on guitars stage-right.

A sold-out audience outside for Lucinda’s show, with other folks inside, waiting for 3 acts to perform after Lucinda’s set.

Just be informed; per the link below, besides Lucinda and Sara Petite, there are 2 additional acts: Brawley and Nena Anderson. Remember that 2 AM reverts to 1 AM after the show.

Last Friday night, Sept. 27, I attended a show at the Valley Performing Arts Center (VPAC), featuring EmmyLou Harris and Rodney Crowell. Accordingly, I can answer specific questions about the venue.

    A few items of interest:

There are 4 levels of seating: Orchestra, Parterre, Loge, & Balcony. Tickets are usually sold via Ticketmaster, with the “select your own seat” option. Each level provides traditional seating in rows, but also offers a single column of swivel seats on the left and right sides. These seats offer more personal space (no one behind or in front, and no seat touching you on the side except by swivel), but with the penalty of distance from the stage. These seats are prefixed by “X” in the charts: http://www.valleyperformingartscenter.org/visit/seating/vpac/

Refreshments are sold at several locations, but drinks may NOT be brought into the auditorium.
