This reply is divided into an explanation about Grimey’s, and a separate discourse about other festival events.

Thanks, stoger, for providing the comments and setlist from Grimey’s.

Saturday afternoon, I accidentally met stoger at the Bootleg BBQ (British Underground showcase stage) at The Groove venue in East Nashville. My focus was to see Emily Barker and her newest group, Applewood Road, at their 3:15 PM set. After that set ended at 3:45, stoger and I drove our separate cars (my rental car) to Grimey’s for Lucinda’s 5 PM show. Upon arrival, we learned that Grimey’s had restricted access to a select audience that had purchased Lucinda media from Grimey’s that week, and had received an uber-special Grimey’s wristband, distinct from the regular festival wristband. This audience of several hundred people were lining-up at Grimey’s front entrance. We were told that no other entry was possible. All common folk were then banished from the store at about 4:30.

At this point, stoger chose to remain at Grimey’s and persevere in his attempt to gain entry. Apparently, he succeeded.

I chose to drive back to East Nashville, and enjoy Kasey Chambers 5:20 PM set at the (Sounds Australia) Aussie BBQ at The 5 Spot venue.

I spent Friday evening and Saturday at the festival. Obviously, I can only comment on the acts I chose to attend. There were many other laudable performers at venues all around town.

My highlight for Friday night was Kasey Chambers 9 PM set at the 3rd & Lindsley venue. This was a brilliant 45-minute set, with a focused and enthusiastic audience.

My highlight for Saturday night was Shannon McNally’s midnight set at The Basement venue underneath Grimey’s. Shannon was joined by Colin Linden and Audley Freed on guitars. A stunning 45-minutes of great music.

For a photo of Shannon with Colin & Audley, open this instagram link in a new tab:

in reply to: Denver done? #55080

I attended the first Denver show (actually April 12, not April 14), and I can confirm that Lucinda did sing “West”. The setlist.fm list (not posted by me) seems accurate, although I chose not to log the setlist as the songs occurred.

USA readers should note that the 08/04 ticketing date in the link is today, April 8.

Note that June 23 is the date of the Brexit vote: the referendum for the United Kingdom to exit the European Union…should be an interesting evening in London…

in reply to: Pre-Grammy Salute & Tribute to Glenn Frey #54924

stoger, I learned about this event from the Troubadour’s weekly E-Mail, although I was expecting a possible show, since the Troubadour advance calendar was suspiciously empty for the Saturday night before the Grammy’s. This event was similar to the Everly Brothers tribute, per the forum thread I started on Jan. 17, 2014.

in reply to: Kasey Chambers #49930

I attended the opening night of this tour (Wed, July 29) in San Francisco at “The Chapel” on busy Valencia Street in the Mission District. An excellent, medium-sized venue, with a large standing area in front of the stage, bar-stools towards the rear, then an upstairs with 2 tiers of bar-stools and standing areas. Lots of room to meander within the venue between songs. Bars on both levels, plus an adjacent public bar separate from the music room.

A local opening act from 9-930, then Kasey and band performed from 10-1148. Setlist from this link (not compiled by me):
    http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/kasey-chambers/2015/the-chapel-san-francisco-ca-6bf666e2.html

Band configuration was father Bill Chambers on guitars, the busking duo Grizzlee Train on guitars and percussion, and session musician James Haselwood on bass. Sadly, no fiddlers, unlike previous tours.

This venue was perfect for the band, allowing the audience to stand close-up, and interact with Kasey and friends. A great ambience for music and movement within the venue. Other venues for this tour may diminish this ambience with seats and targeted food/beverage service.
