Thanks, Tim, for the excellent review.
For trivia buffs, in the Car Wheels set, Steve Earle played harmonica on Drunken Angel, instead of Doug.
Here is the second set list of songs:
1. Where Is My Love?
2. Fruits of My Labor
3. Pineola
4. Jailhouse Tears (Steve & Lucinda)
5. You’re Still Standing There (Steve & Lucinda, singing Steve’s song)
6. Righteously
7. Changed the Locks
8. Come On
9. Wrap My Head Around That
10. Unsuffer Me
11. Honey Bee
12. Mama, Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Cowboys
13. Come To Me, Babypaul_from_losangelesParticipantThanks, Tim for posting the spelling of Greg Dulli. I spent 10 minutes Googling for “Greg Dooley”, and could not find a singer. Thursday was another marvelous show, especially the 3rd take of “Steal Your Love”. I also enjoyed meeting stellablueee, our heroine from Wednesday’s thread. I did scribble a setlist for the second set, so I’ll attempt it here–it’s a bit complicated, so chime in with corrections.
1. Are You Alright?
2. Right In Time
3. Drunken AngelTim Easton on stage:
4. People Talkin’ (with Tim Easton)
5. Back to the Pain (Tim’s song with Lucinda backup vocal)Tim Easton exits; Greg Dulli on stage:
6. Jackson (Greg and Lucinda singing the Johnny Cash/June Carter Cash song–NOT Lucinda’s Jackson, as Tim noted)
7. Tell Everyone (Greg’s song with Lucinda backup)
8. Real Love (Lucinda singing her unreleased song, with Greg backup)Greg Dulli exits.
9. Honeybee
Mike Stinson on stage:
10. Cross Your Mind (I scribbled “Slip My Mind”, but “Cross Your Mind” is on Mike’s “Last Fool at the Bar” album)–Mike singing his song, with Lucinda backup.
Mike Stinson exits.
11. Unsuffer Me
12. Marching the Hate Machines Into the Sun
13. I Live My Life.paul_from_losangelesParticipantTruly a marvelous evening…from the focused, mellow audience to the beautiful red curtain, the vibes were amazing. Lu’s band was joined by Chet Lyster of the Eels, who played guitar and keyboards for most of the songs. The opening set, as promised, was the 13-song “World Without Tears”, performed in album sequence. Lucinda wore a stunning turquoise dress with a grey top and heels. After the main set, there was a quiet 20-minute intermission with the curtain drawn. Lucinda returned in jeans, T-shirt, and sneakers, for a second set of Rescue, Words, Fancy Funeral, Pineola, Jailhouse Tears, Come On, Honeybee, Unsuffer Me, Still I Long For Your Kiss (with Shelby Lynne), Joy, I Live My Life, and Get Right With God (with Ann Wilson from Heart).
paul_from_losangelesParticipantNon-official comment, but “www.ticketmaster.ie” is listing Lucinda in Dublin on November 22 at the Tripod. You can Google for Tripod; it’s a new venue in the old Harcourt station facility, slightly south of the city center. Tickets are not yet on sale.
paul_from_losangelesParticipantNote that Carrie also plays the Hotel Cafe the following night, Friday the 24th. The Hotel Cafe books artists for 1-hour slots, and Carrie plays the opening hour at 8 PM. (www.hotelcafe.com; read the FAQ for some amusing notes.)
paul_from_losangelesParticipantWhile we’re deliberating cheap beer and curfews, how about finding a decent hotel in Manhattan for less than $400 a night?
paul_from_losangelesParticipantSorry, any occupied seats are not me. At least, not yet…
paul_from_losangelesParticipantDespite the Aug. 15 ticket date in the note, the tickets seem to be available now at “www.waltonartscenter.org”. If you “Select Your Own Seats”, the front rows look available at $250 a seat. Maybe Doug will toss you a guitar pick.
paul_from_losangelesParticipant“www.frontgatetickets.com” is listing the Longhorn show.

9. When I Stop Dreaming (duet with Charlie Louvin)
10. Get Right With God (also with Charlie Louvin)
11. Still I Long For Your Kiss

22. Westpaul_from_losangelesParticipantSaturday night in Pittsburgh, at PNC Park on the northern bank of the Allegheny River, 32,068 fans watched the Pirates blast 10 hits, slug 1 home run, and beat the Astros 7-3. Three hundred yards away, across the Roberto Clemente Bridge, at the Bynam Theater on the southern bank of the Allegheny River, about 1400 fans watched Lucinda blast 18 hits, and slug 4 home runs, but she still couldn’t win the battle of the 11 PM curfew. Unfortunately, Charlie Louvin was allowed to play for an hour, relegating Lucinda to start at 9:30. Lucinda played as much as possible, and she chose to omit the normal break after Joy. Consequently, the songs after Joy (which normally formed the encore) got blended into the one (and only) set. Reluctantly, Lucinda left the stage at 11, and the audience was left to applaud and plead, while the crew dismantled the equipment. Such is life in the theatrical venue business–lots of paid employees with strict contracts. Anyway, on to the setlist, hits, and home runs:
1. Rescue
2. Fruits of My Labor
3. Lonely Girls
4. Words
5. Learning How to Live
6. Those Three Days
7. Out of Touch
8. Come On
9. Essence
10. Unsuffer Me
11. Bleeding Fingers
12. Honeybee
13. Joy
(no pause, but I’ll start the virtual encore here)
14. Side of the Road (Lucinda solo acoustic, preparing for 9/10 & 10/4)
15. Minneapolis (Lucinda & Doug only, preparing for 9/5 & 9/29)
16. Marching the Hate Machines Into the Sun
17. Little Rock Star (new song, see below)
18. When I Stop Dreaming (Charlie Louvin singing his song, with Lucinda as his duet partner)Little Rock Star is a “play on words”, and more listening or lyrics are needed to determine if the meaning is a diminutive musician (Little “Rock Star”) or an Arkansas celebrity (“Little Rock” star), or maybe both. The song was written in the last week, and was new to the band.

Passionate Kissespaul_from_losangelesParticipantTo answer the previous question, I’ll narrate some details of the Seattle show. The band had the same personnel as from April and early May: Doug Pettibone (guitars), David Sutton (bass), and Butch Norton (drums). For this show only, they were joined by Bill Frisell, the noted jazz guitarist, who worked on “West”, and now lives in Seattle. Bill played all the songs on a Fender jazz guitar, improvising notes to complement the sounds of Doug, David, and Butch. The venue was a beautiful indoor concert hall, with dramatic ceiling lighting, offering images of starlight and constellations. The setlist:
1. Rescue
2. Ventura
3. Are You Alright?
4. Fancy Funeral
5. Fruits of My Labor
6. Blue
7. Where Is My Love?
8. Too Kool To Be Forgotten
9. Unsuffer Me
10. Essence
11. Come On
12. Honeybee
13. Joy
14. Everything Has Changed
15. West
16. Marching the Hate Machines into the Sunpaul_from_losangelesParticipant😆 On my second experiment, I tried “Lucinda” and it worked.
Row 1 is still available, as of 10:11 AM PDT.paul_from_losangelesParticipantStoger, I don’t know the password for the Ticketmaster presale on April 11, but be aware that the “SHOWS” tab on THIS website leads to a presale from “Music Today”. That presale started today, Tuesday, April 10, and has no password–you just register. The presale seems to include only the reserved floor level seats–not the side bleachers. I scanned through a few selections, but chose not to purchase.
