Tickets went on sale this morning, Jan. 24, on Ticketmaster.
paul_from_losangelesParticipantReminder–This Saturday night, Jan. 3.
In the Los Angeles area, on KLCS (not KCET) at 11 PM.
paul_from_losangelesParticipantI’m not sure about Atlanta. I might just ration my money, and spend the following weekend in New York City, with a Saturday night in beautiful Montclair, New Jersey. The renovated Wellmont Theater reads well in the reviews.
paul_from_losangelesParticipantThis reply especially for Tom (tntracy). For February 28 in Atlanta, I notice that High Road Touring specifies the Variety Playhouse, but Ticketmaster lists the Tabernacle, with sales beginning Friday, 12/12.
paul_from_losangelesParticipantIt does not require a ferret. Just some logic:
1. We knew Lucinda was playing somewhere in Australia before the announced Byron Bay festival.
2. It’s a reasonable deduction that the “somewhere” would be ticketed by Ticketmaster Australia (or Ticketek).
3. Do a frequent surf of Ticketmaster Australia. On Friday, that site showed ticketing for the Melbourne show. That screen also shows a presale from “Adrian Bohm Presents”.
4. Do a “Google” on “Adrian Bohm”, and you reach the posted link.I do NOT expect to attend those shows. As you know, I am currently unemployed, seeking work. If I don’t find a job by April, I will be reluctant to spend $2K-$3K for airfare, hotels, tickets, etc. If I do find a job, it would be very difficult to take vacation from a new job. Sorry, mate, someone from down-under will need to review those shows.
paul_from_losangelesParticipantMetal Firecracker was performed last Monday night at the Fillmore, in the “No Repeats” show.
paul_from_losangelesParticipantThanks, Tom, for this survey. It’s a great idea!!
1. Chronological setlist: Rate at 9. Or try a variation, with 2 nights of Chronological shows, with one night ending after Sweet Old World or Car Wheels, and the second night finishing up from the first night.
2. Split sets: Rate at 9. Not to quibble over terms, but instead of ballads, how about unplugged or acoustic: essentially, songs where Lucinda plays only her Gibson J-45; a set of Side of the Road, Pineola, The Night’s Too Long, Everything Has Changed, Minneapolis, Something About What Happens, People Talkin’, Concrete and Barbed Wire, etc.
3. Two nights: Rate at 10, with the ballad term as commented above.
4. Album shows: Rate at 7, but keep some spacing between the nights.
5. No change: Rate at 3. I’d like some change–right now, the second half of the shows is too predictable. Once Lucinda straps on her rock guitar, I know what’s coming; shake up the shows a bit.
For the other category:
1. Fees: No opinion.
2. Fan club: Might make sense, if a real value; schedule a reception with Lucinda BEFORE a show, so fans can meet Lu and each other, possibly stand/sit together, if General Admission.
3. Early ticketing: good idea, IF the presale tickets are truly better than the regular tickets.
4. Releases: No opinion.
5. Cities missed. As a variation, what about type of venues in the cities? For example, in San Diego, how about 4th & B (stand-up dance floor), instead of Humphrey’s (reserved plastic chairs)?
6. Suggestions: I know this is difficult: but, how about NO opening act, unless it’s named Carrie Rodriguez.
paul_from_losangelesParticipantCarrie did a very short set, maybe 6 songs. She did not join Lucinda on stage, although Carrie remained at the show, and chatted with folks afterwards. Carrie’s set was followed by the regular Buick 6 set, so Lucinda did not take stage till 10 o’clock. Great show, especially with both “Side of the Road” and “The Night’s Too Long” on the same set.
paul_from_losangelesParticipantThe Knoxville show was ticketed for 8:00. Buick 6 started about 8:15, and played about 35 minutes. Lucinda started about 9:20 and played until 11:30, including the encore.
paul_from_losangelesParticipantAfter cdnow.com takes you to Amazon, select the Item #1 Little Honey (either words or cover picture). You’ll go to the next Amazon screen; about 6 inches from the top, there’s a link to Listen to the 5 songs. Or else, simply go here:
http://www.losthighwayrecords.com/lucindawilliams/amazonpaul_from_losangelesParticipantTicketmaster is showing an American Express presale Aug. 27-Sept. 4, a week before the public sale on Sept. 5. Usually, an AMEX presale means you must enter a confidential AMEX phone number as a password, AND pay for the ticket with an AMEX card. By the time the AMEX buyers and the 3rd-party retailers get finished with this presale, I would anticipate rather distant seats for the public on Sept. 5. Of course, the promoter might retain some decent seats for Sept. 5, but I wouldn’t bet on it.
paul_from_losangelesParticipantJust for the information, the Knoxville show went on sale Friday, online through the TennesseeTheatre.com website.
paul_from_losangelesParticipantI must echo stellablueee’s displeasure with the reviewer stating that Lucinda looked awful. No way she looked awful!! Certainly, Carrie was the featured performer, and she wore a brilliant red and black outfit, which legitimately dominated the visuals of the stage. In contrast, Lucinda was dressed in discrete, fashionable black, perfect for a Monday evening in Hollywood, and perfect for joining Carrie on stage. I do also agree that that Carrie’s music was marvelous, and I thank KaiserCartel for performing “Something About Happens When We Talk”.
paul_from_losangelesParticipantAt the Lowell show, they were selling a black T-shirt with lines from “2-Kool-2-Be Forgotten” screened in orange or red (…no dope smoking after 12 o’clock…). I don’t know how new this shirt is, but I don’t remember it previously.
paul_from_losangelesParticipantI did NOT attend this show, but “Riders on the Storm” is usually segued from Joy. Perhaps, stoger can elaborate for this specific date.
