Stoger, Live Nation has a promotion for every Wednesday, whereby most fees are waived for most shows at Live Nation venues, for example, the Fillmore at Irving Plaza. You really can’t tell the situation for your event until 12:01 AM Wednesday. You can Google the topic, and read various complaints about which fees were removed, and which fees were retained. If you wait till Wednesday, and the shows are sold out, you could go to StubHub, where are the tickets are selling for about $92 each.
paul_from_losangelesParticipantSo far, I have not purchased any NYC tickets (I may prefer Chicago), but to answer tntracy, I did get the 3-day discount screen to work. The price is 99.99 + 17 = 116.99. However, the 3-day discount delivery specifies as Will Call only. This compares to individual tickets as 3 x (39.50+12.50) = 156, with the individual tix allowing “Print at Home” and “US Mail” for free.
Perhaps, the 3-day “Will Call” is to discourage resales. I wonder what happens if a 3-day person skips the first show, and arrives at “Will Call” for the second show.
Note that Live Nation supposedly offers ‘No Service Fee Wednesday’, but by Wednesday, the shows might sell-out.
paul_from_losangelesParticipantThanks for the good reports. Stoger, I took the 11:05 Perth to Glasgow (change trains) to London. Just a small delay for faulty signals near Carlisle. Have a good trip home. I’m waiting at Heathrow now for my flight to LA.
paul_from_losangelesParticipantGood report, stoger. You obviously found a computer faster than me, in beautiful downtown Manchester. Regarding your note, between Blue and Pineola, Lucinda told the tale of Frank Stanton, the poet of suicide in Pineola.
The Leamington Spa audience was extremely focused on experiencing Lucinda. The ages seemed between 30 and 70, with a welcome absence of noisy youngsters, programmed to party, talk, and binge-drink. There was no talking during the songs, but lots of inspired applause and shouts after each song. People seemed to each buy 1 drink, and then nurse their drink throughout the show, without the annoying disruptions of repeated trips through the crowd for the next round of booze.
An excellent show, although it seemed to have a curfew. The first (and only) encore set ended at 11, and the house lights came up immediately.
paul_from_losangelesParticipantIn reply to “2 Kool 2 Be”, tickets for Wilmington are on sale now at:
http://www.grandopera.orgAlso, tickets for Baltimore are on sale now at:
http://www.ramsheadlive.comNote that Ticketmaster has a “not on sale” link for the Baltimore show, but Rams Head is selling tickets now with its own in-house ticketing engine, including a “Print at Home” option.
paul_from_losangelesParticipantI would be optimistic for Toronto. The website for the Vancouver Queen Elizabeth Theatre states:
Important Notice: The QET is closed for Renewal construction from May 13 to November 14…http://vancouver.ca/Theatres/frame_menu.html
paul_from_losangelesParticipantGlancing at High Road Touring, I notice a new date on September 30 in Wilmington, Delaware. Also, the previous date for October 1 at the Count Basie Theatre in New Jersey has quietly disappeared. We now have a 1-week gap along I-95 between Wilmington and Providence. Lots of geography to speculate…
paul_from_losangelesParticipantHey, Tonyg, I recently joined twitter, even though I don’t understand it. Just go to http://www.twitter.com, and select “Get Started–Join”, enter a screen name and password, and you become a full-fledged tweeter. I did select to follow Lucinda, and some people I don’t know are following me–I’m sure they’re quite bored, since I don’t tweet anything.
I really don’t understand why anyone would care when I brush my teeth, or how many flakes of “Nature’s Path” Organic Flax Plus MultiBran cereal I have for breakfast, but I guess some people enjoy telling the world those things.
Anyway, I guess it’s useful if you have a posse of admirers living their lives vicariously through your activities. I don’t have that luxury.
Start tweeting!!
paul_from_losangelesParticipantThe “SHOWS” tab for this website now displays a composite schedule for the European Tour, 20 appearances over 32 nights.
paul_from_losangelesParticipantManchester, Tennessee is located in the United States Central Time Zone, and observes Daylight Savings Time, enabling the acronym CDT for Central Daylight Time. CDT is 6 hours behind British Summer Time (BST), and 5 hours behind Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).
If Lu plays as scheduled from 6:45-8:15 PM CDT on Friday night, June 12, then the time in the UK will be 12:45-2:15 AM BST, early Saturday morning, June 13.
paul_from_losangelesParticipantWow, the 91 and 405 freeways are certainly fast and empty at 1 AM on a late Thursday evening. A great show to start this tour. Good to renew meetings with stoger and tonyg. Stoger documented the setlist, so I’ll just mention the venue was quite full, with all standing downstairs and standing/sitting upstairs. There was also access to the upstairs outdoor patio, for enjoying the cool, misty air, watching the NBA game on TV, and chatting with Susanna. For the fashion police, Lucinda wore blue jeans, with a dark blue patterned shirt. Good night all, or good morning…
paul_from_losangelesParticipantI had previously described Carrie’s San Pedro show in the “Steal Your Love” thread on this forum, last updated May 9. Subsequently, I neglected to report on Carrie’s May 10 show, on Mother’s Day night at McCabes in Santa Monica. For this performance, Carrie’s band was joined on drums by Don Heffington, who formerly backed Lucinda, among many other artists. Again, “Steal Your Love” was enhanced on steel guitar by Luke Jacobs from Romantica.
paul_from_losangelesParticipantNote that the July 25 show at Gateshead is part of the Summertyne Americana Weekend, which may satisfy the reference to Americana in the original announcement for this thread.
Visit http://www.thesagegateshead.org
On the left side of the screen, see Festivals, then Summertyne, and “Click here for full details including the Americana Weekend”.
paul_from_losangelesParticipantLast night (May 8th) in San Pedro, Carrie included “Steal Your Love” in her terrific set of about 20 songs in just under 2 hours. Carrie was backed by Hans Holsen on guitar and Kyle Kegerreis on stand-up bass. Also, members of the opening act “Romantica” joined Carrie for several songs, adding a steel guitar and drums.
If you’re attending any of the Romantica/Carrie shows in this mini-tour, note that Carrie did come onstage early and play fiddle, near the end of Romantica’s opening set. You may want to plan her early appearance into your evening’s schedule.
The San Pedro show was seated general admission, but the hostess invited anyone to move-up, and sit on pillows right in front of the stage. Surprisingly, only 3 folks including me accepted the invite, for a great view of Carrie and the musicians.
