paul_from_losangelesParticipant
I treated myself to Kasey’s show Friday night in New York City at the Bowery Ballroom. Great show and venue, with enthusiastic audience, standing on main floor, partially seated in the balcony.
Excellent Australian, Americana, and bluegrass acoustic music with Kasey, her father Bill on guitars, Ashleigh Dallas on fiddle, mandolin, and vocals, and Michael Muchow on guitars, mandolin, and banjo. Great vocal harmonies, and lots of accolades by Kasey for Lucinda as an inspiration for Kasey.
For this show, there was no external opening act. Bill Chambers opened solo with 5 songs on vocal and acoustic guitar. I believe some remaining shows in this tour have local opening acts.
Again, this is an acoustic show, with some electric guitar–no rock’n’roll, no drums or bass. Just marvelous music. Bill started at 9, and Kasey and her band ended about 11:30 after 20+ songs.
As readily apparent, Kasey is quite pregnant with her 3rd child, and sat for many of the songs.
I believe our road warrior stoger may attend the Knoxville show (nearer his home) on Sunday night, so perhaps a report will follow.
paul_from_losangelesParticipantYes, Tom is correct. The encore started with Angel. The setlist from the link below shows Nothing in Rambling at #19, but that was replaced by Angel.

paul_from_losangelesParticipant“3 Blocks Away”???
How about “Six Blocks Away”?paul_from_losangelesParticipantPieta and Carrie were excellent at McCabe’s in Santa Monica on Mother’s Day night Sunday. They were joined by Luke Jacobs on guitar for selected songs. Pieta sang for about an hour, and closed her set with Luke on guitar and Carrie playing fiddle. Carrie and Luke then played about an hour, and Pieta joined them for the encore.
I was tempted to follow the tour to Anthology in San Diego on Tuesday night, but I didn’t like the Anthology concept of a supper club with crowded tables and chairs, and a mandatory purchase of overpriced cuisine. So, I stayed home in Los Angeles, and saw Pegi Young at the Hotel Cafe, per tonyg’s earlier thread.
paul_from_losangelesParticipantContinuing the military theme, the Orange County Great Park is an ambitious new work-in-progress: a 1300-acre suburban park being developed on the grounds of the deactivated Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) in El Toro.
For historical reference, here is a link to the 2010 (not 2011) summer concert series:
http://www.ocgp.org/events/flightsandsounds
For the 2011 curious reader, here is a link to a Request-for-Quote to stage the 2011 series. I know “line 2” specifies 2010, but that must be an error, since responses were not due until April, 2011, and 2011 is specified at about the 11th line. Also, Appendix A lists dates for Friday & Saturday of 2011.

The bottom line is that there is no permanent concert facility at the park. The temporary stage is rigged for this 5-week series only.
paul_from_losangelesParticipantPresale has begun for all Mountain Winery events, including Lucinda on June 25. There are 3 categories: CitiCard, Live Nation Mobile, and a general presale for the Mountain Winery and KFOG E-Mail lists. For this 3rd category, the password “summer” works for all events. At this early hour, Ticketmaster seems overloaded, and there are delays to retrieve a possible ticket to purchase.
For this venue especially, the Presale uses only a subset of available tickets. The public sale starting on May 9 might (or might not) provide a better seat.
Also, season VIP members have exclusive access to the best seats.
paul_from_losangelesParticipantFrom the Mountain Winery website, the listing for Jakob Dylan has quietly been replaced by David Lindley, long-time musician with Jackson Browne.
paul_from_losangelesParticipantPer the Mountain Winery website for the morning of April 25, Lucinda’s show on June 25th included Jakob Dylan, as special guest. Now, late night on April 25, the website has replaced Jakob Dylan’s name with David Lindley, long-time musician with Jackson Browne.
Public ticket sales begin May 9. Ticketmaster is listing some pre-sales for May 4.
Hopefully, this year’s show can avoid the situation last August 18, where Blessed exceeded the 10:30 curfew, and the sound was unplugged.
paul_from_losangelesParticipantThis list is missing Chicago, May 21-22, at the Park West.
paul_from_losangelesParticipantPresale ticketing has begun for the Chicago shows, per the link in my earlier thread.
For the May 22 Sunday show, there are 2 presale categories, JAM and 93XRT, but both presales seem to target the same $40 general admission tickets.
The password BLESSED works for the JAM presale.
BLESSED does not work for the 93XRT presale. For the May 21 Saturday show, there is only the JAM presale for $40 general admission, and BLESSED works. For Saturday only, there is also an external reference to http://www.chicagohomeless.org where the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless is selling $85 VIP reserved seats.
paul_from_losangelesParticipantChicago shows for May 21-22 are now displayed at the Park West website:
http://www.jamusa.com/Venues/ParkWest/Concerts.aspx
paul_from_losangelesParticipantFor the NYE setlist, the forum thread is Viper Room Report 1/1/11, started by tonyg on Jan. 1, and last updated on Feb. 11 by Los Doyers. Includes some one-time songs, only for New Years Eve.
paul_from_losangelesParticipantThanks for your good work on this project, Tom.
I see both People Talking and People Talkin’
which could be merged for better accuracy.paul_from_losangelesParticipanttntracy: There’s a thread named “Minneapolis Pt 3”, posted by Tom Overby on Feb. 25, which details the setlist for Minneapolis night 3.
Also, in the statistics view: one show apparently includes the sequence numbers as part of the title, so those songs are counted separately with a count of 1–if the sequence numbers were removed, those songs should increment their counts at the proper names.
paul_from_losangelesParticipantNo, it’s not me in those seats. I’m not attending the Knoxville show. I’ve decided to decrease my travel and attendance at the Eastern/Central shows. I’m stuck in a time warp of preferring Lucinda’s music from 20 years ago.
More time for Emmy Lou Harris and Zoe Muth…
