Just for information, I did receive the E-Mail link from the Belly Up about 12:50 PM PST on Wednesday. However, as tonyg reported, you really don’t need the link. Just go to http://www.frontgatetickets.com, and search for Lucinda or Belly Up, or set the calendar icon from/to January 9.
paul_from_losangelesParticipantIn response to tonyg’s query above, Belly Up pre-sales do not have passwords; instead, the Belly Up sends an E-Mail link to folks who sign-up for the E-Mail list on Belly Up’s website. Presumably, that link would be sent tomorrow, Wednesday, Nov. 14.
paul_from_losangelesParticipantThe Perfesser and I enjoyed the music of Amy and Shannon on October 25, at the Stickyz Rock ‘n’ Roll Chicken Shack in Little Rock. I hope you enjoy the show at Proud Larry’s.
I’m a bit concerned about Amy, Shannon, and their band having to travel overnight 535 miles to Oxford from a Dec. 20 show at Knuckleheads Saloon in Kansas City. Maybe Proud Larry will provide them a private jet.
paul_from_losangelesParticipantTony, you might try Sera Cahoone at the Satellite, this Saturday night. Sera should be the last act, maybe about 11 PM, just after the late football telecasts. You can check the Satellite Facebook page during the afternoon on Saturday, to verify the set times.
Edited update on Friday afternoon: a Satellite Facebook note has confirmed Sera’s set for !! PM, Saturday night. Also, Sera is the LA Weekly top selection for Saturday night.
paul_from_losangelesParticipantI followed my Sunday attendance at McCabe’s with a visit to Dallas last night (Friday, Oct. 19) to experience Amy and Shannon at the Foundry. Good intentions, but the wrong venue to focus on music. The Foundry features an outdoor stage in a beer garden with picnic tables, attached to an indoor bar, attached to a semi fast-food chicken restaurant. At 9 PM show time, most patrons were there to eat, drink, talk, smoke, and (did I mention?) eat, drink, talk, and smoke. The verb “listen” was checked at the door. With lots of concentration, a person could hear Amy and Shannon by sitting/standing very close to the stage, and tuning out the talkers and background activity. Amy and Shannon’s music was excellent–they took a break at 9:45, and by 10 PM, the restaurant had closed, and more music listeners had evolved near the stage. The second set ended with an 11 PM curfew, due to outdoor noise limits for the residential neighborhood–although the bar apparently was open until 2 AM. Some very good music, but frustrated by the poorly focused environment. In hindsight, I should have chosen the Blue Door tonight in OKC, instead of Dallas. I believe one of our esteemed members may be attending the OKC show. Anyway, Amy and Shannon did buy me a beer on their tab, and did announce a return tour of Texas in February, dates TBA.
paul_from_losangelesParticipantIn the USA this Sunday evening, many TV viewers of the PBS series Masterpiece Mystery will be treated to Episode 1 of Series 3 of the Swedish detective Wallander. The theme music for this series features Nostalgia by Emily Barker and the Red Clay Halo. PBS schedules will vary across the USA.

There were sarcastic comments about him escaping the town at an early age, but I was not attuned to the local humor. I just googled him, and the following myspace page is an accurate depiction of the performer and his songs:

A short, but powerful, thunderstorm rocked the area about 7 PM, and several seats were wet from roof leaks.
paul_from_losangelesParticipantstoger, you might advise your new Australian friends that Kasey Chambers, another renowned Aussie, will be performing in New York City this Saturday night at the City Winery, 155 Varick Street, between Houston (how-ston, NOT you-ston) and Spring, in the West Soho area. Tickets are still available.
paul_from_losangelesParticipantKasey gave a stellar performance last night (Aug. 4) at the historic Aladdin Theater in Portland, Oregon. Kasey was accompanied by her father, Bill Chambers, on lead guitars, the beautiful Ashleigh Dallas on fiddles and mandolin, and talented musician Michael Muchow on additional guitars and mandolin. Kasey declared her usual accolades for Lucinda, and sang Happy Woman Blues from Kasey’s recent album. Lucinda albums were played exclusively in the theater as background music before the show, and during intermission. Before the encore, Kasey introduced the audience to her 3rd child, her 9-month-old daughter named Poet. Kasey’s tour continues this week, with dates in San Francisco and New York, among others.
paul_from_losangelesParticipantBe aware that a second night for Lucinda has been added at the Birchmere. Tickets for Tuesday, August 14, have gone onsale on Ticketmaster. This is not a presale–this is a full public sale.

paul_from_losangelesParticipantThe well-versed stoger is probably on an Amtrak train or a Greyhound bus, proceeding slowly north from Redding towards Vancouver. He apparently has no internet access. We must be patient…
