Amy and Shannon are currently playing the South Central USA with another segment of the “Chasing the Ghost” tour. For these dates, Will Sexton is playing guitar instead of Richard Mache. I attended their show last night (Wednesday, Jan. 30) at the Saxon Pub on South Lamar Blvd. in Austin, TX (a welcome distance from downtown and the infamous BlackHeart Bar). For this Austin show only, Charlie Sexton joined his brother and the band on-stage for a few songs.

An excellent show, with the Saxon filled with an adult audience of respectful music listeners–all the talkers, hipsters, thieves, and cellphone addicts were exiled to downtown.

Just for accuracy, the Brussels concert is Friday, June 7. Be careful with the dd/mm date protocol in Europe.

As a follow-up to Trane’s message about Oslo, you can visit http://www.billettservice.no/ and find additional shows in the Netherlands on June 1 and 2. This screen also lists the German shows previously noted in earlier posts.

Just a note to folks in the Los Angeles area: EmmyLou Harris & Rodney Crowell have a show at the Troubadour in West Hollywood on Saturday night, Feb. 9. This show was just announced this week, and tickets went on sale about 4 hours ago (1 PM PST, Jan. 25). As of this moment (5 PM PST), tickets are still available on TicketFly.

Carrie will perform one song for the City’s Mayor and Council members on Thursday, January 17 during the City Council’s meeting where there will be an official proclamation of Carrie Rodriguez Day. The opening act for the Lu & Doug shows from Dallas through Minneapolis is apparently: http://www.kennethbrianband.com

Click “Tour Dates” on the above page.

I’m not sure what part of “Intimate Evening” is defined by the Kenneth Brian Band, but I suspect earplugs may be recommended during the opening act.

Note that the Evanston SPACE show sold-out almost immediately after the 10 AM CST on-sale this morning.

Just be aware that the business philosophy of the City Winery ordains that fine wine and gourmet food share the spotlight with the music. Accordingly, the wait-staff will be walking, talking, and serving throughout the music performance, navigating the tight aisles among the tables and chairs, with plates and trays.

I attended Kasey Chambers at the City Winery in New York City, and I found this continuous food/drink operation quite distracting, while I attempted to focus on the music.
