I don’t think I’ve every really cared for the opening acts Lucinda has had. The Heartless Bastards were ok, but I didn’t feel the need to rush out and buy their album.
parkercaParticipantmmmmmmmm spam…
parkercaParticipantI wore the same outfit as she did on the cover of “World Without Tears” to a show. I got noticed…but it wasn’t the good kinda noticed…. 😯
parkercaParticipantThis may or may not help. I pm’d Inside Job about my NY order (ordered last week of October). IJ said “had to repress the WWT NY cd because a track that was there very mysteriously disappeared on some copies”.
parkercaParticipantHere are a few places to begin for Wilco and Gillian Welch
Wilco
“Being There”
“Yankee Hotel Foxtrot”
“Sky Blue Sky”Gillian Welch
“Time (the revelator)”
Jim Lauderdale
“Headed For The Hills”I do have that duet with Kevin Gordon. It is really good.
Lucinda does two duets with Doug Pettibone on his album.
They do the Beatles’ “The Two of Us” and Dylan’s “She Belongs To Me” GOOD STUFF!parkercaParticipantIt was the LA version. Waiting on the NY shows…and waiting..and waiting. haha
parkercaParticipantShe also did “Factory Girls” with Flogging Molly
parkercaParticipantThat is very cool about Steve Earle. I met him about 3 years ago at the Woody Guthrie Festival here in Oklahoma. He was very nice, signed some albums and took a photo with me. “Train A’Comin” is a good album. Probably my favorite of his from 1995.
Williams/Plant would be a great duet. The duets that I am aware of are:
Lucinda Williams/WIllie Nelson “Over Time” from Willie’s “Outlaws and Angels”
Lucinda/Steve Earle “You’re Still Standing There” from Steve Earles’ “I Feel Alright”
Lucinda/John Prine “Wedding Bells/Let’s Turn Back the Years” from John Prines’ In Spite of Oursleves
Lucinda/Elvis Costello “There’s A Story In Your Voice” From Costello’s “Delivery Man”
Colin Linden, Larry Donahue & Lucinda Williams “Come To Me Baby” Tribute to Howling Wolf.
parkercaParticipantI used to be a HUGE Ryan Adams fan. The first two discs (Heartbreaker/Gold) I just about wore out. I kept buying the new discs but never felt like they held up against the first two.
Here are some artists I really like besides Lucinda of course 😆
Bob Dylan
Wilco
Steve Earle
Gillian Welch
Guy Clark
Billy Joe Shaver
The Waifs (Austrailian folk band, They are awesome)
Jim LauderdaleparkercaParticipant“Heartbreaker” is really good. It is the album he did before “Gold”.
parkercaParticipantNah. came up with it all by myself. FUNNY GUY funny funny guy. 😆
parkercaParticipantI think it is Bob Dylan. Just a guess. 8)
parkercaParticipantTry PMing Inside Job. That will probably work.
October 26, 2007 at 12:43 am in reply to: World Without Tears live in NYC/CA versus Live at Fillmore #34759parkercaParticipantThis may or may not help, but I think the “El Rey” show seems more organic and flows MUCH better than the Fillmore. I felt the Fillmore seemed forced in places.
The sound quality goes to the Fillmore, but the stories and Lucinda’s interaction with the audience makes for a more interesting listen on the El Rey show.
I don’t have the NYC show yet so I can not compare that one. Other people may disagree but I think these discs capture the Lucinda concert experience much better than the Fillmore album.parkercaParticipantScratch that.. I broke down and bought the whole NYC set.
