I have his 3 solo albums and I love them ~ quirky, good songs, great playing… they won’t win any awards but I think they are worth having. He’s also a great show live.

As to why he doesn’t play with Lu anymore… well, things go in cycles don’t they? A band has a shelf life and when you have a solo career, guest on huge amounts of albums and have a flourishing sideline producing albums, well somethings got to give, I s’pose.

However, I did read one interview a while back (I think it was in “No Depression”) and when Gurf was asked about Lucinda he shook his head and smiled ruefully and said that the grammy he won for “Car Wheels…” was hidden away in the shed so he didn’t have to see it and then think about her.
