I’ve been a big admirer of Lu’s for many years but my wife never really got it until she came along to see Lu for the first time on Thursday. Granted we had really good seats and that helps. I’m delighted because she loved it! It’s going to be so much easier getting extended in house airplay for lu’s work now Sheena digs Lu too.
Picking up on the ‘new’ guitarist Lu said he played for Iggy Pop. Well that figures cos he really rocked.. albeit at times he rolled around a bit too much. From where we were sat his amps were raised too loud and overwhelmed some of the tunes.. but hey what a sound. Tribute to all the players bar none. A great band.. no doubt. Live at Fillimore is my fave live album OF ALL TIME even beats Bruce live at Madison Square Garden and Frampton Comes Alive.
I could have sat and swayed for another hour or two. But would have much preferred to have stood and waved. Granted everyone needs their beauty sleep. None of us are getting any younger. Check out the old die hards sat to to the left..that was you guys!!! 😉
Sorry Bridgewater Hall peeps but please resist temptation. Saw Steve Earle last time out and like Lu on Thursday, this venue just isn’t dirty enough. To plush to sterile. Classical or Jazz for sure. Saw Lu at the Apollo a few years back and it worked for me!
If Lu or any of the guys are reading thanks for a great night of musicianship.. great songwriter great singer that’s what she is!
