Wow – THANK YOU, LWJ!!! What a find – my two all-time favorite artists!

Most welcome West Words. Everyone should listen to this conversation.
What reminded me was stoger meeting Chuck and Stephanie at the Santa Rosa concert, so I did remember Chuck opening for Lu on the Essence tour.
I wanted to read any info on that tour and Google found the Paste Magazine reference.

Hey stoger, glad to see your great reports again.
Are you in for the long haul on this tour thru July ?
Tell me, I hope you had time in Victoria to partake in afternoon tea at the magnificant Fairmont Empress Hotel.
So far, you are really bumping into some nice people =Chuck P. & Stephanie F., and an old girl friend of Butch’s.

    JazzFest tickets going like hotcakes

Ticket sales for the 2011 TD Victoria International JazzFest are better than last year, says its artistic producer.

In fact, advance sales are the best they’ve been since 2008, Darryl Mar said Wednesday.

“It’s very, very healthy,” he added, noting that headliners Lucinda Williams and Wynton Marsalis are almost sold-out.

This gal sounds brilliant- live from Billboard despite the “makeshift” cajon drum set (seems like something Butch Norton would experiment on) and the very dusty violin.
Although it’s a big celebration of Canada Day on July 1st ( a la the U.S. 4th of July ), I’m strongly contemplating seeing Sarah in concert in Buffalo.
    Enjoy the video.

Love the Eve/Snake/Apple poster. Anyone know where I can get it apart from site already mentioned (price too high for my wallet)?

padchio, this one is on page 4 of Gigposters.com
Once you maximize the photo of the poster, you can look to the left of the image for availability.
    Here is the link

There are 6 pages of Lucinda posters with quite a few that I haven’t seen on her site.
    Here are three interesting ones.

My friend Tiger & I used to sing with Bill Priest in NY back in the late 70’s. Last time I saw him was 1980, I think. He’s a brilliant singer- songwriter. I used to book him & Lucinda at The Flushing Local Coffeehouse. We’ve been looking for him for years. Anybody out there know where he is? Thanks, 🙂 JZ

No luck searching for info as to Bill’s wherabouts but did find a song called ‘Silent Souls” that he did way back in 1973 at the Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas.
A 10 disc set of the Early Years at Kerrville.
A sample of his song is # 34 and Lu appeared one year later at the Festival-song is # 134 “One Night Stand”, Lu with Mickey White on guitar and Rex Bell on vocals and bass.

Great song with Lucinda. The rest of the album is not too shabby either.

Here’s Blackie, etc. in the studios of CBC Radio in Toronto a few days ago doing the song without Lu.

Hey Lafayette, thanks for the links and the correct song title.
I had looked at Mike’s song lists of his CD’s and couldn’t find “A Better Way” as per the You Tube title and kinda assumed it was a new song as Mike stated on his FB earlier this year that he is working on a new album.

So, we shall look forward to his new release.

A show has just been added for Toronto.
Blaze Foley – Duct Tape Messiah
    (2011, USA, 86 mins) D: Kevin Triplett

A doc on the songwriter described by Lucinda Williams as “a genius and a beautiful loser” (and the subject of her song “Drunken Angel”). Foley, shot to death at 39 after a life of poverty and missed chances, has become a legend whose songs are covered by Willie Nelson and Lyle Lovett.

    Shows:
National Film Board Saturday, June 18 @ 5:00 PM
However, I’m still opting for Buffalo on June 24th as the Toronto show is only the movie-No Gurf.
Also Buffalo is closer for me.
    Sure looking forward to it.
