On another note the idea right now is that these shows will be significantly different than the sets we played this summer with the plan being to have some surprises. Hopefully we can make that happen.

Re: Gruen, TX-The oldest dance hall in Texas since 1878.
Tom, you are not kidding about bringing surprises this tour.
Just imagine having your dinner at Gruene Hall pre-concert while Lucinda is serenading you.
    See this.

The finishing point will be the Fillmore in San Francisco on 11/19 & 20 and that will wrap up 2011.

The 2 disc live CD set is one of my favorites.
Why not a Volume II Tom O. ?[attachment=0:z13m65h1]Fillmore Posters SF.jpg[/attachment:z13m65h1]

Not the fall tour Tom O. but the Feb. /12 Cayamo boat cruise question.
Will the boys in the band be on board too?

Looks like tour 2011 is going for a record # of shows.

HA! I was JUST mentioning in recent conversation my first date with my husband was a Don Henley show at Riverbend Music Center. He puts on a FANTASTIC show…I would love to see this!

    Nice find, Lafayette.
OUCH ! Those scalper prices for the Greek Theatre. Ticketmaster will eventually be offering the tickets at, hopefully more reasonable $.
I would have thought Tom Overby (Nee Inside Job) would have leaked the news first. 😆

Inside Job is the fourth studio album by Don Henley, released in 2000, and his last album of all-new material to date.
The song “Goodbye to a River” was apparently named after the book of the same title by John Graves. In the album’s liner notes Henley wrote: “Respect and gratitude to fellow Texan, John Graves, for his inspirational writing – Goodbye to a River (1960) and other books.” The album was the first solo album for Henley in 11 years, the album reached #7 on the charts and released two Adult Contemporary Tracks singles with “Taking You Home”, and “Everything’s Different Now”. “Taking You Home” was also released as a single on the Billboard Hot 100 and reached #58.

Here’s a great pic of Kathleen along with her talking about her new untitled album due Jan./12, her new Beau (Bon Iver aka Justin Vernon), her EP coming out in Sept. with the National Parks song “Wapusk” ( One of the ones I emailed to you Tom).
Bon Iver is on the cover of the issue.
    http://www.nowtoronto.com/music/
Most of the Bon Iver shows in the USA and Europe with Kathleen are sold out for this year.

Finally, on something very close to my home here in Niagara, Kathleen (sans Justin) will again be appearing at the Jackson Triggs Winery outdoor ampitheatre on Sept. 3rd.
Lucky me. This was the same venue in 2009 wherein the famous “biotch” story was told.

The Lost Notebooks of Hank Williams, a new collection of previously unheard songs by the country great recorded by artists such as Bob Dylan, Jack White, Norah Jones and Levon Helm, will be released on October 4th. The set, which will be issued on Dylan’s imprint Egyptian Records, was originally conceived by veteran A&R executive Mary Martin as a Dylan-centric project, but eventually evolved into a multi-artist tribute to the late singer-songwriter.

The songs featured in the set were rescued from notebooks left behind in a leather briefcase by Williams after he died in 1953 at the age of 29. The notes contained lyrics and song ideas that were finished by the 13 artists who contributed to the disc. The full story of Williams’ notebooks will be told in the album’s liner notes, which were penned by Michael McCall of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

The full tracklisting for The Lost Notebooks of Hank Williams is as follows:

Alan Jackson “You’ve Been Lonesome, Too”
Bob Dylan “The Love That Faded”
Norah Jones “How Many Times Have You Broken My Heart?”
Jack White “You Know That I Know”
Lucinda Williams “I’m So Happy I Found You”
Vince Gill and Rodney Crowell “I Hope You Shed a Million Tears”
Patty Loveless “You’re Through Fooling Me”
Levon Helm “You’ll Never Again Be Mine”
Holly Williams “Blue Is My Heart”
Jakob Dylan “Oh, Mama, Come Home”
    Sheryl Crow “Angel Mine”
Merle Haggard “The Sermon on the Mount”

what’s the story behind it? does anyone know any trivia or something?

AND WHAT ABOUT THOSE AWESOME LIZARDS?

I don’t know pdl if you can call this trivia, but this video was produced as follows:

LUCINDA WILLIAMS Passionate Kisses (1989 US Rough Trade 1-track promotional only NTSC format VHS video manufactured by PDR Productions, housed in a library case with custom printed studio labels).
    Here’s the link:
    http://eil.com/shop/moreinfo.asp?catalogid=424979

I seem to recall an interview or two with Lucinda talking about a fascination with snakes, don’t know about lizards.Just look at the tattoo on her left arm.
    Quote from one interview:
AUSTIN, Texas – Lucinda Williams is analyzing her tattoo. There is a complicated story behind the two-headed serpent circling her left arm, involving philosophy, Toltec culture, the devolution of society, and a shaman. She gazes down at the powerful symbol etched into her flesh, which at this particular moment is nesting next to the glittery letters on her tank top: BOY BEATER. Then she lifts a bottle of beer to her mouth, throws her head back, and takes a good long slug.

“I’m spiritual,” Williams says in a laid-back Louisiana drawl. “But I’m certainly not leading a pious existence.”

Lucinda Williams is a heat-seeking missile for places where the sacred and the profane rub …

Hmmmmm. That is rather bizarre. The songs are all the tracks from Lu’s Happy Woman Blues album, but with, in most cases, the wrong title. And, it says it is published in 2011 by “Smith & Co”, whoever that is… ❓

    Tom

    Bizarre is right Tom.
    For example:
Nobody Knows Who We Are in the Smith & Co. is of course Sharp Cutting Wings in the original.
Bill in the Smith & Co.is Hard Road in the original.
They have created ( disguised ) what looks like a new release under a new title.
Tom O. may be interested in looking into copywrites, etc. on this.
I’m surprised it appears on Apple/ iTunes.-Don’t they check out their stuff ?
By the way, when you open up the iTunes Store you can hear each song in its entirety.
All kinda reminds me way back when with K-Tel records.
Here’s all I could find out about Smith & Co.

    About Smith & Co
Smith & Co. is an all round music and DVD company that enjoys bringing CD’s, 12 inch vinyl pressings and DVD’s onto the market in the hope that there are like minded people out there who think that these products are worth having. It can vary from artists such as the incredibly under-rated Dorothy Moore who stole our hearts way back in the 70’s with “Misty Blue” to the quirky hippy jug band sounds of Norman Greenbaum, but who will always be remembered for “Spirit in the Sky”, anything but jug band sounding!
Everything in between is interesting to Smith & Co. probably because it’s founder , Paul Smith has spent the last 30+ years in the music business and wouldn’t know what else to do. 😉
    Record Label
Smith & Co releases CD’s spanning the spectrum of music styles ranging from Country to Soul, Disco to Rock ‘n’ Roll.

    Licensing
One of the largest independent Licensing and Sync Licensing agents for many US & UK labels featuring artists such as Andy Williams, the Everly Brothers, David Soul, Norman Greenbaum, Johnny Cash, Bobby Darin and hundreds of other successful artists.

    Te Mata Music Publishing
An ever growing catalogue of Chill, Lounge, Trance, Ambient and World Music, administrated world wide by Novello & Co. Limited
Who knows if it’s the same Smith & Co. on the iTunes as I couldn’t find any mention of “Love in My Heart” by Lu on their web site.
