The plan is for the Rough Trade record to be the first release of the new record deal. As soon as we make that decision the RT record will not be far behind.

Looking forward to it, thanks Tom O.

    Per Blake’s Facebook post –

On Tuesday Danielle Haim, Taylor Goldsmith, and I are going to be playing the Dylan cover we did for Amnesty International’s ‘Chimes Of Freedom’ record on Conan. Antonio Banderas and Fred Armisen are the guests.

Thanks for posting this West Words.
Looks like a late night of viewing for me as Blake and Danielle will be on TBS Tues. at 11:00 ET-a channel I don’t receive but it’s on later at 1:00 a.m. on the Canadian network CTV.
Perfect timing because I will be tuning in to Letterman the same night to watch another favorite-Kathleen Edwards promoting her new CD Voyageur.

And, now for a little bit of fun-Blake wins round 1 of a guitar battle.
Later in the video see what Blake does with a beer bottle.

Any upate to report Tom O on the much anticipated 3 disc set?
Does the expiry of the Lost Highway contract threaten the release, in particular, the DVD of live shows in 2007 from the El Rey?

    Thanks.

Like West Words it took a while to find you in the video Lafayette, as I was looking for you wearing a “cheap straw cowboy hat” as you have worn in previous concerts.
I noticed a link under the video to your Mellonblog site, something I haven’t looked at in a while.
Your writing about John and all the ticket stubs in your collection is great.
I see you are now featuring weekly in your blog John’s art collection.
Do you own any of his work?, Are they on display somewhere?

Lafayette, I see Amos will be back in Europe (again) soon with some sold out shows.
I’m looking forward to his performance taped last year from Tucson on PBS-Live from the Artist’s Den on March 2nd.

Now let’s go off topic and talk football.
I watched your Cinci Bearcats win at the Liberty Bowl after a very successful season. Did you and DH go to Memphis to cheer them on ?
I much prefer watching college football over the NFL.
Let’s go way off topic with David Wilcox ( a fellow Canadian ) “Doing the Bearcat”

The hard cover book is now out and is available from Amazon.
Read Lucinda’s contribution to the book and how Townes influenced her career.

    Here is an excerpt.
    LUCINDA WILLIAMS
I love “If I Needed You.” That’s one of his songs that really stands out. The melody and the simplicity and what the song says make it work. It sounds traditional, like an old folk song. Sometimes those are the ones that people identify with, because it sounds familiar even when you listen to it for the first time. There’s one song I wrote, “Jackson,” off Car Wheels on a Gravel Road, that’s probably one of the most closely influenced by Townes. In fact, when I recorded it, Steve Earle played guitar, and he said the way it was played was like a Townes kind of sound. You can certainly hear Townes in Steve’s music. Townes had his own way of playing and phrasing.
I like his darker songs, too, like the one I covered on thePoettribute album, “Nothin’.” I really buried myself in his songs when I was trying to pick one to play for that album. It gave me perspective on his writing because I just pored through tons of his CDs. The darkness and the mysteriousness of “Nothin’” drew me to it; I like songs that are dark and brave at the same time. “Tecumseh Valley” is a great one, of course, and “Pancho and Lefty.” Those are ones that people recognize. “Pancho and Lefty” is a brilliant song, and it tells a story full of wonderful imagery.
I met Townes in 1973 in Nashville. It was when I was first heading out on my own with my guitar and starting that whole thing. I met Townes briefly through some other people. Then I ended up later in Austin, and I would see him from time to time when I was there and living in Houston.
