Thx Tom. Find out what a punter is please. Is it good to be one?

    Found this definition tonyg.

    punter 37 up, 79 down
Someone who parties like an animal; also refers to clubbers.
“There were over 50,000 punters at this rave I went to last weekend.”

There are other dictionary definitions that may not be so good.

Certainly a tricky procedure to get the pre-sale password of better for the Sarnia show.

I just went for the cheapie general admission of $39.00 and I’m sure I can find my way to the back of the licenced VIP area to say hello, Lafayette.

Lafayette, I hope you and tnt enjoy the Ghost Brothers of Darkland County.
Re: Sarnia-JM’s ticket prices are the almost the lowest of the entire festival. Now at $39., $69. and $89.
Hope you get on that computer tomorrow.

I had mentioned earlier that the Cowboy Junkies will be appearing before JM and now a third band-the Sheepdogs is also listed. They too are a great Canadian band and won three Juno’s (Cdn. equivalent of the Grammys) last weekend in Ottawa. Best New Group, Best Single and Best Rock Album.
So, it should be a great summer evening in Sarnia.

Are you also heading North to Cleveland for JM’s honour to induct Donovan into the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame ?

    Safe travels to Chez Tracy.

No, lwj, my Pettibone family sources have dried up seemingly, nor of course would I have seen Doug’s Facebook page. But more power to the expanded band. Forty songs is a start šŸ˜€ How’d you like that segue from rehearsing to packing which Lu provided in the interview? I bet her mind is more on the latter these days, as the boys bring Mathis up to speed. Wish I could go Down Under by early autumn time there. . .

Yes stoger, talk about a smooth transistion from rehearsal to packing.
I sure hope Doug brings along his pedal steel.
Seems like Buick 6 is almost fully back. But wait, where’s the Chet ?

A new interview with Lucinda from Undercover FM in Australia.

    Check this excerpt.

SB: That would be very exciting, can I ask you about the band you are bringing out? Is it pretty much the regular lineup?

LW: Well there’s a little bit of something different and it’s really exciting. I’ve got my rhythm section that I’ve been with for a few years now, Butch Norton on drums, David Sutton on bass, then Doug Pettibone is back in the band, you know, he was touring with Marianne Faithfull and various people, so he’s doing it and we got another guy who’s also playing guitar, the guitar player from the Wallflowers, Stuart Mathis. Yeah, we had rehearsals and it sounds so amazing, everybody’s really excited about it.

Tom O. had reported that Doug would be back for London, UK shows in November.
    From Doug’s Facebook page.

Heading to Puerto Rico today with Draco and the boys until Sunday. Then, I’m off to Australia and New Zealand with Lucinda. So excited about the weeks ahead.

Stoger, you probabably knew about this all along. šŸ˜†

    Here’s the full interview.

We’ll have to wait Lafayette for ticket sales for Sarnia on April 7th. They are now listed @ $49.,$79., and $99. plus fees. Not too bad.
Looking at hotel prices right now, they are about 1/2 of July tourist season prices.
I looked up the Northern Tier web site for your son’s canoe adventure in Scouting along the Minnesota border with Quetico Provincial Park in Ontario. Absolute true wilderness greets him.
That will be a great experience for him- so much better than a lot of kids texting, video games, hanging out at the Mall, etc.

Looking forward to JM’s show and I just might spring for the VIP ticket.

Here’s an article from The Age newspaper in Melbourne, AU
    Gotta love the opening paragraph.

LUCINDA WILLIAMS may well have received a little note on her kindergarten report along the lines of ”Lucinda is an intelligent girl, funny too, but she doesn’t play well with other children”. Fast forward 50-odd years and little has changed, at least when it comes to her songwriting.

    Now, read on.

Hey Lafayette half the fun is planning and anticipating the concert.
I’ve never attended a Festival concert at Cenntennial Park in Sarnia, ON but have driven by. On the shores of Lake Huron with a marina and large campground adjacent.
    Here’s a pic of a concert-capacity is approx. 20,000[attachment=0:26w2kc4l]Centennial Park Sarnia, ON.jpg[/attachment:26w2kc4l]
So, lets look at the Pros. and Cons. of John’s two Ontario venues on his cross Canada tour.
SARNIA July 13- a triple bill outdoor venue with GA tickets (you can bring your own lawn chair) only $49.99, VIP preferred unlicenced $79.99 and VIP licenced $99.99 some chairs available.*****These are the prices listed for July 14th with Iron Maiden & Alice Cooper-don’t know JM’s pricing yet****
Cinci to Port Huron, MI / Sarnia, ON 6 hrs.for you
Niagara, ON to Sarnia, ON 3 hrs. for me
I’ve found a B&B in Sarnia a ten minute walk to the venue. approx $90.00 and they have a pool.
Lots of hotels in Sarnia / Port Huron to choose.
Would be a great opportunity for meeting you and your hubby once again.
OSHAWA,ON July 15 at the General Motors Centre-capacity 5,000-no real great seats in a hockey arena.
Cinci to Oshawa approx 9 hrs.(over your limit)
Niagara to Oshawa 2 hrs. no need for me to book accomodation.

I’m leaning toward a nice outdoor, crowded July concert in Sarnia.

I’ll be up to a show (or two) as long as it’s within my 8 hour driving window. Unfortunately, I would bet ticket prices will be around the the same price range as before since it says he is continuing his No Better Than This Tour.

ALSO, super excited about the art gallery exhibit in Nashville. I plan on attending that as well!

Yup, I forgot to mention the Nashville art exhibit. Funny Lafayette, we were just discussing his art recently.
    It’s an 11 &1/2 hour drive for me to Nashville-so that’s a no go.

However, re: ticket prices, I know you always search out the best seats, so if we do meet again on JM’s tour I’ll just buy the cheapest ticket and wait for you to move up by the stage(a la Windsor in 2010) and claim your seat. šŸ˜†

Hey, I see from JM’s website that The Cowboy Junkies ( A Canadian Band out of Toronto since 1985) are opening for JM.
I saw them many years ago and ya’ll will enjoy their music.
There always seems to be a connection to Lucinda. i.e. They both performed on the 1999 tribute album to Gram Parsons.

Let’s look at two Junkies videos.
First up is from the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson from way back in 1989.

Next up a recent one from the CBC Radio studios in Toronto.

Looking forward to John’s show wherever that may be. Have to wait until March 28th for the details.

p.s. Lafayette, the Cowboy Junkies are heading to the 20th Century Theatre in your Cinci town on April 24th.

Hey punchdrunklove just wondering how many versions of 2 Kool your friend KJR has amassed by now.

By the way the whole KCRW set was added to the Media page of this forum some time ago. Every so often I watch it. It’s really DVD quality as I have reported earlier.

    lwj

p.s. Any luck with your South American contacts to bring Lu on a tour?

Thanks for posting this interview tntracy.
    I love Erika’s apparent shyness.
Sure looks like the HB’s are joining the big league now with The Wall Street Journal.

I see there are lots and lots of You Tube videos from their current busy tour including several from various radio studios.
