Thanks, lwj, today is the first day in the last 5 I woke up feeling so much better. Yeah, I’m sorry I missed Amos but after looking at some pictures from the show that night (band dressed in coats and hats) and reading comments from people at the show, it was the absolute right call. It sounded like it was freeezing that evening.

Okay, I’m glad you posted about making reservations. I did reserve a room as a backup (but it was the wrong date!) at the Holiday Inn (host hotel) at a price gouging cost (unbelievable!). HOWEVER, I was also looking at B & B’s and found this place. I’m not sure why rooms are available (oh, my) but I just booked an ensuite (I have never stayed at a B & B before) for less than half of the room I booked at Holiday Inn. The other two rooms are available but they have shared bath. Here is website. If you see any reason that would be a good reason not to stay, please let me know. 😆 http://www.misenerhouse.com/index.html

Yes, send me the info. I’ll DM you my snail mail address.

I am still looking for B&B accomodation Lafayette and I do recommend them. Usually you get to stay in a beautifully restored older home, get to meet other travellers and enjoy a gourmet breakfast. Many of the owners are a retired couple very proud of their home and the room rentals help offset taxes, utilities, etc.
Just a reminder you were going to send me a DM ( or did you mean PM ?) with your snail mail address. I have an envelope already to send somewhere in Ohio with the Sarnia, ON info.

A quote from punchdrunklove-the Rio forum person is great-perhaps the funniest comment of the year so far., especially the remark just to bully Lucinda

    “Quote

YES! the adam sandler movie. it’s perhaps my favorite movie ever, i’ve seen it countless times and i basically worship everything about it. but it’s such a silly username. it was the first i could think of (yeah, before even my NAME), maybe because i rewatched the movie a few days before registering here in 2009. thing is: i registered just to bully lucinda into transferring her ongoing 2009 int’l tour from europe (bleh) to south america

    End Quote”

Ok so I created the Adam Sandler discussion so I’d better chime in on a coincidence.
TVO is a Canadian public broadcasting TV network like PBS and one of their favorite shows for me is “Saturday Night at the Movies” so I checked and tomorrow night, if I can stay awake, I’ll be able to catch pdl’s favorite”Soco Bebedo Amar” Hey, pdl how’s the Google Portuguese translator work for Punch Drunk Love ?

Here’s the link together with a preview for tntracy to view.

thanks, L. but i couldn’t listen to it. an m3u file of just 46b opens up. there’s nothing to it!

Mine works like a charm pdl, once I click play I open the same file you stated, but then it immediately opens my iTunes player for the broadcast.
I have iTunes installed (free) and then if I go to edit / preferences / advanced I checked “use iTunes as the default player for audio files”.

I’m sure you can do the same thing for the VLC media player as suggested on the radio station’s page.

So what media player do you have on your computer pdl ?
    It’s a great broadcast.

As an aside, is your forum user name taken from the Adam Sandler movie ?

For those busy people in Brazil and Ohio, you missed a great broadcast last night.
DJ Aaron Margosis (aka the Eclectic Baboon) was at this public station back in the ’80’s and returned for the fundraiser this week. He sought and received permission from Lucinda and hubby to air the broadcast.

Gosh, Tom O, I’ll let you in on my “secret” search technique for Lu’s breaking news.
I took my HP laptop to my local computer techie shop and they programmed one of the function keys as a hot key to bring in all the Lucinda goodies. 😆

For example, just this morning it told me I should take the 5 hour drive to the Palace Theatre in Albany, NY on August 17th to catch Lu with John Prine.

    WAIT. i’m confused.

EDT time is 4 hours behind greenwhich/GMT, right?

so, if i’m 3 hours behind in rio the show will be at 9pm. is that it?

I think you are right about that 9:00 p.m. time slot for Rio punchdrunklove, but stoger is a better authority on time zones than me. Maybe he’ll cast the deciding vote.
For example he found out that Lu’s recent show in Cave Creek, AZ was at standard time-no daylight savings-same as Rio.

As requested here is the first post. Hopefully I’ll find some discipline and keep it up. Enjoy:

As I mentioned above the last few weeks have been a blur. There have been recording sessions for two more tribute records, one for Jesse Winchester and one for obscure 70’s British singer songwriter/ guitar virtuoso Michael Chapman. Both tracks came out great and the Chapman track is pretty different than anything Lu has ever done. I believe that is coming out towards the end of May

Have a listen to Lucinda’ s song on the Michael Chapman tribute album due out May 29th.
The song is called “That Time of Night” and runs for a full 7 minutes.
Lu’s “sultry” voice kicks in at about the 1 & 1/2 minute mark.

    Excellent reporting tonyg and stoger.
Just a couple of thoughts on the event in the desert.
Did Buick 6 open the show ?
Great set list but only one song from “Blessed”

I took a peek at Harold’s Corral website and it seems there is a fan club and a great following of the Pittsburgh Steelers there. Did you find out how this might have started ?

Not much more prose stoger from this article.

    http://austin.culturemap.com/newsdetail/04-28-12-08-26-the-austin-food-and-wine-festival-blazes-a-trail-at-republic-square-park-with-new-taste-of-texas-kick-off-event/

The added bonus was having a soundtrack of bluesy tunes from Lucinda Williams playing live on a center stage to help set the tone. The accompanying concert from a big marquee name like Williams was a first for this kind of food festival in Austin. And while people certainly took in the show, the constant flow from the food tents, to the bar, to the stage made the added music component a welcomed addition, though not one that commanded the entire evening.
“I really like that everyone is still walking around to taste food and talking at their little tables while listening to the concert all at once,” said Becka Brown, one of the evening attendees. “The music isn’t overpowering, but really fits with something like this.”

Not sure what else I can add beyond what I put up earlier in this post. It is the Kate Wolf folk festival and it will be Lu and Doug for this show as well as Big Sur.

The July shows will be with the band.

I’m confused (still) if this was a reply to the Redding inquiry…
I thought there was the Kate Wolf on the 1st AND a Redding show on the 11th..

    Oh, well..
    See you in Vancouver !!

6/24 -Hollywood Bowl -appearing as guest artist at Glen Campbell’s farewell concert

    “6/29 – Big Sur (solo / duo)
7/1 – Kate Wolf Fest (solo / duo)

    7/11 – Redding CA (duo / trio)
7/13 – Vancouver Folk Fest (band)
7/15 – Tanghee Music Fest – Arvada Wyoming (band)
7/20 – Ft. Collins CO – Lincoln Theatre (band)
7/21 – Boulder CO- Chautauqua (band)”

Samish-High Road Touring now lists the Cascade Theatre for Redding. No info yet on the theatre’s website.
