Sounds to my ears “fades half in the rain” also.
Have a listen starting at the 3:30 min. to Rodney sing the song in the studio in Missoula, MT.

    “And your gaze slides by”
    I think Rodney sings:
    That just passed me by

p.s. If Rodney and Mary weren’t on tour now, you could have asked Lefty to visit Prof. Karr at Syracuse U. for a definitive answer. πŸ˜†

I gotta figure out a time & place when I will finally see NEIL LIVE! πŸ˜•

My one and only live NEIL show was at the Air Canada Centre, Dec.5/08
This year with Crazy Horse my best option is Oct. 6/12 in London, ON at the John Labatt Centre.
Your best bet is North on Rte. 81 and hang a LEFT(pardon the pun) onto Hwy 401 and 2 hours and 18 minutes later you have arrived at the K-Rock Centre on Oct.5/12 in Kingston, ON.

Buddy Miller kicked off the event with a song they covered when I saw his “All Star Band” perform last year at Cannery Row at a showcase after the AMA’s – a blues song in which the title certainly escapes me (clueless) but I certainly remember the performance.

Buddy’s blues song is “Gasoline and Matches”

    Just a side note:
ALL the musicians on stage ( Buddy M.,Don W., Don H., Greg L.and Jim L.) have all recorded / toured with Lucinda over the years. Kinda like old home week for Lu.

I loved Shelby’s performance of one of the songs from her recent “Revelation Road.” Once again, title escapes me but I certainly remember her performance of that song when I saw her solo last fall at a Cincinnati stop. HA! I was namedropping with her when I had her sign a poster for me — telling her I discovered her first at Farm Aid and then by much talk here in the FF and I was a fan of Lu’s. Her eyes got bright and she said “I love her, too!”

    You Tube to the rescue.

tntracy, a head’s up if you want to catch Sarah at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre.
She will be appearing there with Norah Jones on June 23rd.
No luck for me from her tour page.
I see she not only has a re-designed web site but also a new hairdo.
I’ll have to check with my local record shop to see if they can order Sarah’s new Album “The Body Wins”

Wow, Lafayette you really had me puzzled by your response.
At first I thought it was some kind of mathematical formula. ( of course one is less than three )
But than as evidenced by your blog under JM’s thread about your mellonhead visit to his art gallery and the superb use of photos, I figured it was some kind of internet savvy.

Just shows a la Lucinda “I’m So Out of Touch” with the internet language.
So here is what I Googled and found.

<3 β€” "love"; ASCII art for a heart, the less-than symbol and the three resemble a heart tilted on its side.

I was working so didn’t see the live stream but here is a review of the event.

    Jim Lauderdale’s quote
“Thank you all for coming out so early,” singer-host Jim Lauderdale told the assembled media assembled at the Grammy Museum’s theater Thursday morning. The occasion: an announcement of the nominees for the 2012 Americana Music Awards – and an all-star mini-concert. β€œI’ll tell you what,” Lauderdale said, standing beside an only slightly bedraggled-looking Lucinda Williams and Shelby Lynne. β€œThis is way past our bedtime!”

Read on.The writer goofed on one of Lu’s song titles.

Does anyone know where to find a copy of the 2003 HP Sound Stage performance? It was one of the best I’ve ever seen.

    Welcome to Lu’s forum Roger.
I had looked for this one with Kasey Chambers quite some time ago.
There are lots of torrent bootleg downloads in DVD on a Google search which I prefer not to participate in.

However I just found this a free, no nonsence, way to catch all 7 songs in mp3 format.
It’s great.Just click on the song title and enjoy.

The beginning of the sample sounds very similar to Soldier’s Song.

I would love to know how many songs Lu has contributed/dueted/appeared. Certainly it has to be close to a Guinness record of some sort? πŸ˜›

Lafayette, you may recall our moderator created a thread entitled “Lu’s Guest Appearances” list quite some time ago and he was good enough to post a link to the Excel spreadsheet he created. I saved that list and it runs from 1988 partway thru 2009 and totals 72 appearances.
It seems tntracy is on a buying spree lately for Lu’s guest appearances.
I wonder if he has updated his list and can share it with us.
