I’m sure he will but in the meantime, this review from the Times Union was just posted.

Just a little bit more on the blog I posted re: The Breadloaf Writer’s Conference, this took place in August 1961.(Just amazing what you can search for on the Web).I’m not at the office today and enjoy the research.
Here’s a link to a front porch picture of the college while Lucinda and the blog writer were inside sitting on the kitchen floor. Maybe this was Lu’s inspiration to create the “Kitchen Tapes”. ๐Ÿ™‚
Obviously Lu would have been only 9 years old in 1961 so she must have met the blog writer at the conference later-say early 1970’s.

Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference fellows posed on the porch of the Little Theatre on Bread Loaf campus, August 1961. Individuals pictured include, rear: Milton White; front row, left to right: Miller Williams, Kaye Starbird Jennison, Robert Frost, Milton Kessler and David Delman.
(Robert Frost passed away two years later)

    just awesome.

Red seems real appropriate pdl, after all it’s a Metal Firecracker.

A recent article on the HB’s
Lefty et al, seems like Erika and the band are into the unusual with their music videos.-a la the bouncing eyeballs one posted earlier.
This one in the article for the song “Only for You” features a couple of young exec’s playing the office role followed by Erika and the whole band going swimming.
    Enjoy!

    Great report visions.
So often Lu comes up with an unannounced guest, in this case Amos.
I didn’t see Amos when he was touring last year with Lu but did catch his show in Toronto last November with Bo Ramsay and Pieta Brown. Would be great if Amos appears on Lu’s next record.

Glad to see “Blue” on the list, maybe someday Lu will perform the
“Rarity” song too.(another of my favorites)

p.s. to Friendly Forum member Lafayette-If you only knew you could have hopped the Amtrak in Cinci to Penn Station for this Lu / Amos combo.

Great show. On at 9:05, off at 11:12, the longest show of the week. I’ll try and post some remarks later today from the airport.

While we wait for tonyg to check in at the airport and to add his color commentary, here’s a review from the Calvin Theatre to enjoy.
    An excerpt:
NORTHAMPTON _ A Lucinda Williamsโ€™ concert appearance is a lot like the fictional Forrest Gumpโ€™s box of chocolates in that you truly never know what you are going to get. There can be nights when things like song lyrics, guitar tuning, and general civility escape her, and there can be nights like Saturday at the Calvin Theater when she shines as one of the great American songwriters and performers.

The final song-a true jam session “Get Right With God” including (just guessing) the girls near tonyg gyrating along with Amy and Lucinda.

Ah come on, Tony, I had you pegged through Northampton at least. Flight change? Tim on board for Saturday’s show?

Well, there was one song Butch came forward and sang on three or four tours ago, though I can’t remember which now. Someone must remember.

Alas, I have seen that “grim faced” walk-on, though usually it is not explained explicitly. Here’s to the the Big Orange bus and its technical recovery.

Enjoying New England vicariously. . .

Courtesy of West Words Napa, CA show on 8/25/2010Side note โ€“ pay attention to Butch every once in a while. He is hilarious โ€“ singing along, holding a drum stick in his teeth, sticking his tongue out, etc., but we the audience are so focused on everything else, we donโ€™t even notice.

I was in a hat, lwj, ๐Ÿ˜€ but I was standing in the “second row.” I may have been hanging on the fence had I not taken the wrong bridge crossing over into Canada and had to drive through countryside to get to Sarnia. A five hour drive turned into seven.

Loved Sarnia and all the locals. Everyone INCREDIBLY nice. I had a really fun time considering I was by myself on this trip.

You must have crossed at Detroit/Windsor rather than the Bluewater Bridge at Port Huron, MI to Sarnia. Time to re-calibrate your GPS ๐Ÿ˜†
Very glad you had a great time and I wish I could have made it there but I’m considering Farm Aid. Only one of the big stah’s I haven’t seen live is Mr. Nelson.

Hey Lafayette, I’m envious of the concert review, videos and many photos compliments of the Sarnia Observer.
Is that you in the front row wearing a hat?
