04.02.2013 – Mack, Jack & McConaughey (MJ&M), the joint fundraising effort of actor Matthew McConaughey, recording artist Jack Ingram, and Texas head football coach Mack Brown, announced today that Grammy Award-winning artist John Mellencamp will headline its Gala Night on April 11, 2013 as part of MJ&M’s inaugural, two-day event in Austin, Texas. Opening for John Mellencamp will be Austin’s very own Dale Watson.
So, Ms. Lafayette are you heading down to Austin ?
This thread on JM was getting a bit dusty so I thought I would post this before Lefty makes his annual contribution to the thread. 😆

LWjettaParticipantMany thanks tntracy ( for the kind mailing offer ) and new Forum member note for the research.
At first glance I didn’t realize that it’s just available online as MP3’s when I first searched Amazon.
So I bought the EP in my iTunes account, copied the album artwork and printed on photo paper for my collection.
I do prefer the real thing especially if there are liner notes.
I hope to see the group in Toronto at NXNE in June and look forward to their full length album later this year.Gotta love their music and videos. Ohio seems to produce a lot of good music as Lafayette would attest to.

LWjettaParticipantI’m trying to get a copy of Angela’s new EP ” Nowhere is Now” here in Canada but my local record shop says not available.
I can download the 5 songs from iTunes but I prefer the real thing.
It’s on Amazon.com but not on Amazon.caAnyway Lafayette I’m glad they are coming to Toronto for NXNE in June.
Thought you would enjoy this article on Angela and also a video.
Seems Angela is also a member of another all girl’s band from Columbus, OH called “The Salty Caramels”
In the video Angela sings, plays a frying pan and a hand saw.Sure do like their music. Notice how the ……connect to Lucinda in the article.
Hope you get to see them at Southgate House.http://www.mountainx.com/article/49230/Five-Questions-with-Angela-Perley

I’ve yet to make it through the doors of the newly opened Southgate Revival House. 😯 Buddy and Jim played there last week but I couldn’t make it. Hopefully, I can make it for Chuck, as well as for Angela Perley, who is fast becoming my favorite live indie band to catch.
WNKU absolutely loves Chuck. I would bet my last dollar he will stop for an On Air.
So Lafayette, I just posted under the Heartless Bastards a full 1/2 hour You Tube of their January performance at Southgate so you can get a feel for the venue ( an old church ), looks great.
And you could have a double night out at Southgate with Chuck on May 17th followed on the 18th with Angela Perley and the Howlin’ Moons.
I also posted an article and video under Angela Perley.lwj
LWjettaParticipantJust added another gig making it 32 performances for Lu on this extensive tour.
The Glastonbury Festival on June 30th in the acoustic tent.
My research is that Lu’s one and only one appearance at this huge festival was way back in 1989.

LWjettaParticipantIt’s now less than two months before Lu and Doug start a very ambitious tour of Europe.
I see from Doug’s Facebook that he is in the studio now working on his new album, but what’s the scoop on Lucinda’s much anticipated new record ?
Is she at the kitchen table recording ?
Studio time booked ?
Don Was on board ?
Eric Liljestrand on board ?Questions, questions, questions for ya Tom O please.

I’m so looking forward to Chuck’s performance in Rochester that I have a room booked for May 13th at the same B&B that I stayed at when I attended Lu’s last concert before Europe in March /09-You know this was at the East Harrow Ballroom where Susannah reported that Lefty was bald and wearing a pink and blue shirt. 😆
As for Angela Perley and the Howling Moons, I may get to see them in Toronto in June . My favorite video of Angela is “Flowers for My Johnnie” which I have saved. Did you enjoy their show from Feb. 22nd as you reported earlier ?
Since we are a bit off topic Lafayette, you were a good sport to post Lu’s WBEZ radio show on Setlist FM.lwj
LWjettaParticipantChuck’s Spring Tour 2013 is announced on this clever You Tube trailer.
He leaves Europe just before Lu arrives.
Here’s the video.

p.s. For Rochester video says May 13th, Chuck’s website says May 14th ?LWjettaParticipantTom O, a completely different slant on Lucinda’s “Rebel” and “Changed the Locks” performance from this writer described as FLAWLESS despite the guitarist.
The paragraph on her performance.
Quote
“We promised a couple of surprises,” Austin explained. “It is my honor to say the next guest is one of the greatest songwriters alive or dead, male or female… it’s my honor and pleasure to introduce to the Fillmore… Miss Lucinda Williams!!” She took the stage to great applause and fanfare, to which she answered “y’all are so sweet!” (She’s adorable!) “How much talent can you cram into one life?” She asked, and then: “can we give it up, please, for the band?” She then led them in singing “Rebels,” and I couldn’t help but notice that she’s the consummate professional. During the song, she was clearly frustrated over some kind of miscommunication with one of the guitar players, yet she never missed a beat, and her performance was flawless. Between the song and the one that followed, the discussion between the two didn’t seem to soothe her much, but they proceeded to her second song nonetheless. It was a Lucinda song, but it was deemed acceptable “because Tom Petty covered it.” They asked for a little help, and were joined by Austin’s dad Boz Scaggs. The song? “Changed the Locks. Before she left the stage, Lucinda took a moment to profess that she believed in “socialized medicine: everyone has a right to medical care. It shouldn’t be a privilege, it should be a right!” Her declaration was met by mostly applause, though I definitely heard a few boos as well. Who knew?End Quote

New show announced for Wednesday evening, May 15, at the Brighton Festival, on the South Coast of England:
http://brightonfestival.org/event/471/an_intimate_evening_with_lucinda_williams/
Members’ priority booking opens: Thu 28 Feb, 7.30am
General booking opens: Fri 8 Mar, 9amAs paul_from_losangeles has pointed out several concert listings for Europe 2013, does this mean we will get on the scene reporting as we did from Europe 2009 ?
stoger, are you also going across the pond like in 2009 ?
I have counted 31 concerts from May 12th thru June 29 for this year as compared to only 20 in 2009.
The Brighton Dome ( capacity 1,900 ) may well be the oldest concert hall Lucinda has ever appeared in (constructed in 1805)
I have visited Brighton many years ago, a nice seaside resort town. The Dome and the Royal Pavilion are all inter-connected by tunnels.
