LWjettaParticipant
Wonderfully composed write-up and photos on your NYC trip Lafayette. You could easily give up your “day job” to secure any open job opportunity as music editor for the largest newspaper in the Cinci area.
What a fool proof way of finding your car at the airport( as long as the Cherry level had space 😆 )
Farm Aid certainly knew how to pick a first class venue such as Haven’s Kitchen with every detail looked after.
Tell me, I hope the chocolate covered organic bananas was your preference DARK chocolate ?
Further questions.
1. How did you ever snag an invite to this event ?
2. What Levon Helm song did Amos cover ?You can now add another coveted photo with Amos to your collection.
Again, most enjoyable reporting. Thanks.lwj
LWjettaParticipantAnother compliment for Lucinda, one of the nicest covers of “Blue” that I’ve ever heard.
Performed by Laura Monk last October in Statesboro, GA

LWjettaParticipantOne more song entitled “Lucinda”
This from his CD release party in Nashville last month.
Artist is David Newbould and the CD is called “Tennessee”http://vimeo.com/64436100

LWjettaParticipantA report from the Amoeba complete with Lu photos and her song selections.

LWjettaParticipantSo tonyg, are you heading to Hollywood tomorrow for this Rarity ?
Other than Lu meeting Tom O at a Best Buy years ago in Minneapolis has she ever done an in-store record appearance ?
I couldn’t find anything in a search. Anyone help ?
This Amoeba appearance, i’m sure would be very unique and rewarding for anyone.I chose the word Rarity in my first sentance and found the one and only one You Tube (just images no Lu) for this beautiful song. I heard Lu perform it in Toronto in ’08

Outstanding reporting Lafayette.
I enjoyed your pictorial travelogue to Austin with Kool captions.
The “Chicken Dance” video complete with another faceoff on stage between Troye and Miriam brought back fond memories of Windsor.
So glad you “Mellonheads” had a great time exploring Austin.lwj

Is there a link to something? I’m not sure what is being referenced. 😕
Maybe fuji was in attendance. It seems firsthand.
Just in case fuji81 doesn’t check back in to the forum, here’s Blake and Derek Trucks at Madison Sq. Gdns.

I just wanted to alert you upstate/north-of-border folks to the entertainment in your area next Wed. the 24th and Thur. the 25th respectively: Amy LaVere. I’ll let my past comments here (and in the McNally-LaVere thread) speak for themselves, but LEFTY and LWJETTA: take note.
Such non-Atlantic, non-Northern names: The Abilene Bar & Lounge in Rochester, the Sportsmen’s Tavern in Buffalo. I can see the old Lefthander on a bar stool in either place, despite their vaguely Wild West labels. Wouldn’t mind wetting my whistle in either joint, but it’s not in the cards for me this tour. , Guys plan to help me live out her show vicariously, will you?
stoger,Thank you.- inked in not pencilled in to see Amy at the Sportsmen’s Tavern-only $10.00 and 1/2 hr. drive.
The venue is great. My only time there was last September to see Mr. Morlix.
Been to the Abilene also when I saw Lu in ’09
Wonder what that other great bass player is up to these days. (D. Sutton)So, if i make it to Buffalo, I’ll certainly plan to help you live out her show vicariously.

p.s. I looked up Amy’s bio and see she worked on the engineering for the Grammy winning album “The Suburbs” by Arcade Fire, one of my favorite Canadian bands.
LWjettaParticipantHow on Earth did you find this web site Lefty ?
Simply Too KOOL for site design and vintage music.
Love clicking on the livingroom section for Oasis TV-” Hot from Petrograd 1933″.Thanks for sharing.
lwj
LWjettaParticipantWas searching the forum Lefty and just opened up the link you posted.
The article shows a photo of Les Paul.
It’s a small world as I watched a DVD last weekend at my neighbors entitled ” Jeff Beck Rock and Roll Party”-a tribute to Les Paul.
The show was filmed at The Iridium in NYC where Les virtually played there every week.
Outstanding vocals on the DVD by the Irish gal Imelda Mays
I’m going to grap a copy for my library.
In the meantime ssssh 8) -someone has uploaded the full 1 & 1/2 hour show on You Tube. It’s an outstanding musical treat.

Anne has a Kickstarter-type project underway over at Indiegogo for her upcoming new album: Even Cowgirls Play The Blues – help her out if you are so inclined! 😉

I sure may be inclined tnt to subscribe especially since Anne mentioned in her video a tour for her new record including Canada. The video was very well executed.

LWjettaParticipantLafayette, Angela’s band reminds me of Erika Wennerstrom playing bars for tips, joining an all girl’s band called Shesus in Dayton, OH and her and Dave Colvin then forming the HB’s in 2003.
They opened for headliners for years but now look at their success.
I feel the Howlin’ Moons can achieve similar fame some day.Angela, Erika and Lucinda all are gifted with a strong voice and unique lyrics.
Yup, better get after JP at WNKU to spin their music. If you do attend either of their upcoming shows I would love to take you up on your offer for an autographed EP.
This reminds me of your generosity in Windsor giving me a bunch of JM posters and an autographed Mike Younger CD.lwj
LWjettaParticipantWe were miffed but what’s a super fan to do?
That’s a great quote Lafayette.
Lucky you, two days in the music capital of the world. Why, they even have regular live music performances to greet you in the airport terminal.
Bring an umbrella if you are arriving on April 10th but the next 2 days look like all sun and low 80’s as per the Weather Channel forecast.Enjoy JM’s performance and exploring Austin.
It’s a given for a report and photos when you get back.s.v.p.lwj
