Great video, lwj! It certainly captures the essence that is Angela.
The show was great last night. 3 sets. The last one was very short, but in speaking to Angela and her front man, Chris, during a break, they decided to play “Jackson,” after much Lucinda discussion. Angela counts Lu as one of her influences. Much admiration. Wanda Jackson as well.
Lafayette, an Interesting name choice on Angela’s facebook for her new photo album is “Ramblin'”
Found out that the Howlin’ Moons will be at Bamboozles Restaurant and Bar on Friday November 8, 2013 in Parma, OH just south of Cleveland. They have Fish Fry Fridays and one of the band member’s relatives owns this dive bar. Should be fun and the weather should be better than in December in Cleveland.
I’m hoping Angela’s first full length album will be out by then. (Maybe get her autograph)
Side note: Have a great trip to The Ellnora Guitar Festival and of course football this weekend.

“You can sleep when you _ _ _.”
Fill in the blank . Bad mojo or something. Advice given to me many times from a JM partner in crime. Not that I always followed said advice.
One good thing, we can listen, via the world wide web. Perhaps lwj will start a ‘3rd and Lindsley’ show tree. 😀
Perhaps said “show tree” will have the capability of interviewing front-row spectators live?
“Show Tree” I’m not as social media savvy as Lafayette, so I’ll give it a go.
A. Should I go outside and hug a tree ? 😆
B. Consider Tree and Thread as synonyms- a la Wiki’s definition here.
A thread (sometimes called a topic) is a collection of posts, usually displayed from oldest to latest, although this is typically configurable: Options for newest to oldest and for a threaded view (a tree-like view applying logical reply structure before chronological order) can be available. A thread is defined by a title, an additional description that may summarize the intended discussion, and an opening or original post (common abbreviation OP, which can also mean original poster), which opens whatever dialogue or makes whatever announcement the poster wished. A thread can contain any number of posts, including multiple posts from the same members, even if they are one after the other.C. Start a new thread for 3rd & Lindsley as I did for the Euro tour. This would be gig # 14 of 14 for the upcoming mini tour and gig # 1 would be tonyg’s and paul_from_losangeles parking lot attendance tonight in LA.
D. Send an email to Lightning 100’s radio station manager to be on the look out for a University looking perfessor in the front row of the club for securing an interview ?
E. None of the above and just enjoy the live broadcast from Nashville ?

LWj, install software called Audacity on your computer. It’s free. It can record what is playing over your sound card. Try it out. 😀
Thanks co-moderator tonyg.
I’ll give it a whirl.lwj
EDIT:
Works like a champ tonyg.
Took less then 5 min. to install and test.LWjettaParticipant@stoger wrote:
Sunday nights are usually live radio broadcasts at 3rd & L, but this is special. Richard Thompson and Rosanne Cash, among others, will have played there 72 hours before, 45-minute Americana conference showcase sets.
Looking good stoger Muchas gracias.
Nashville’s Independent Radio “Lightning 100” WRLT FM has the event listed for 9/22 from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. CDT
I just tried the listen live button and it works all the way up to Canada. I was listening to one of Lafayette’s favs.-Mr. Amos Lee.
Very much looking forward to the live broadcast. Now, if co-moderator tntracy could log in and tell me if it’s possible to record the show on my computer. I only have the Koch S/T reissue and can’t wait to get my mitts on the real thing. The link to “Lightning 100”

lwjLWjettaParticipant[attachment=0:1r7a8sdr]91_roselucindamary.jpg[/attachment:1r7a8sdr]Rosanne Cash, Mary Chapin Carpenter and Lucinda toured Australia in 1991.
Here’s a quote from Mary on “Passionate Kisses”Lucinda and I were on tour with Rosanne Cash in Australia and we were playing sets when we’d all be on stage at the same time, swapping songs and stories,” says Carpenter. “I had loved Lucinda’s music since the early 90s. She played “Passionate Kisses” every night and I accompanied her on guitar and harmonies. Afterwards in the dressing room I would tell her how much I loved her music. One night she just got tired of it and said ‘Why don’t you just record that song?’ Informally I got her blessing. It’s one of the greatest songs in the world. It’s an anthem.”
And a great pic. above of the three of them down under.
Sorry no videos from this tour can be found.

LWjettaParticipantAnother feather in her cap for Lu’s induction in the LMHOF at Tipitina’s.
I’m sure it’s a given that the set list will contain all things Louisianian such as at least one of the following:
Louisiana Man, Crescent City, Lake Charles, Bus to Baton Rouge and Lafayette.lwj
August 8, 2013 at 10:47 pm in reply to: That Time Of Night–Lu’s song for Michael Chapman tribute #49813LWjettaParticipantLucinda’s cover of this song is a very special tribute to Mr. Chapman, and since this Friendly Forum is all about good music, let’s hear from Michael.
This very recent video was at the Cloudspotting Festival in the forests of Lancashire, UK.
I find this song very comforting and high praise to Lucinda for her cover.Enjoy.

Love the exclamation point (!) after Tipitinas. Think maybe someone is really stoked about playing there? Oh, yeah!
Railroad, here’s one big reason for the !
I recall Lucinda wrote ( hand-written) on this forum places that she used to go to in New Orleans in the 70]s for one of our forum member’s planned trip to New Orleans ( member Lafayette ) . that she used to go hear Professor Longhair play the piano at Tipitina’s.
Have a listen and a bio on the Professor.

LWjettaParticipantNo Depression a new article on the re-release by Amos Perrine.
It’s a great read.
An excerpt.
The third one piqued my interest if only by having an Olympia neon sign in the window, the guy at the door told us a local favorite — a skinny girl with bleached blonde hair and guitar — had just begun her set. I did not get her name, I was not feeling optimistic; we found some seats, I walked up to the bar and was turning around with the Olympias as she sang:
“Sylvia was working as a waitress in Beaumont…I’m tired of these small town boys, they don’t move fast enough/I’m gonna find me one who wears a leather jacket and likes his living rough.”http://www.nodepression.com/profiles/blogs/what-is-alt-country-when-did-it-begin-and-the-25th-anniversary-re

lwjLWjettaParticipantTom O, I know you stated you have the original S/T for re-mixing etc., just wondering if you have this gem.
It’s item # 17263 for $60.00 and purports to be an original test pressing of the S/T dated September 6, 1988 from your local record shop Rockaway Records. Why you could just hop in your car and drive there.
Here’s an image and a link to the web site.

p.s.
One more item I found this weekend:
This is an article with pic. from The Sydney Morning Herald dated June 4, 1989. A review on the S/T release all done on a budget of $10,000.00

LWJ – I am very impressed with what you’re digging up. The photo from the Palomino is priceless. Now if I can find out who took it.
I’m curious about the message on the KPFK artwork–This master is meant to burn TAO. Did you put that there? Here is the link to Ronnie Mack’s web site where I found the photo gallery.
http://www.ronniemacksbarndance.com/collage_main.htmlMove your mouse over the photo and it says “Lucinda Williams with Linda Cauthen and the Mustangs”
Scroll further down and you will see this photo of Lu taken by Electric Earl. And if you scroll down near the end OMG there’s another pic of Lu with Mr. Tom O
Here’s a quote from Electric Earl. And special thanks to all of the photographers whose work is featured in this site. A lot of your work has been published without proper credit due but Ronnie can’t remember who took what and when! Enjoy.
On the “Changed the Locks” video segment I posted above, ya gotta give Lu credit for the way she belted out the tune.

LWJ– Thanks for all the legwork -there doesn’t seem to be much from that era. I went thru Lu’s archive of old vhs tapes and didn’t really come up with anything there either. I am curious if there might be more of the Palomino footage.
I do have some great footage of Lu doing 3 different Hank Williams songs at the Palomino but it’s from ’93 so that makes it post Sweet Old World.A bit more but back in that era there was no proliferation of you tubes, cell phone cameras, etc.
A video on the history of Ronnie Mack’s at the Palomino with “Changed the Locks”, but I think this one is more recent then the era you are searching. It’s still a great video to enjoy.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dWXeqLiHu_0
The one I posted earlier part of “Crescent City” is from ronnie Mack’s 3rd anniversary. I know you and Lu were at Ronnie Mack’s in perhaps the last year, so maybe they might provide the full video ?
Now we have some some Kool images to post.
1st up is a great picture of Lu with friends at the Palomino.
Next is the poster from a two night show at the Fillmore in SF with Lu backing up the Cowboy Junkies ( a great Canadian band eh!) from June 5,6, 1989.
Thirdly is the cover art from KPFK-FM Folkscene radio broadcast in Los Angeles Feb. 26, 1989.
lwLWjettaParticipantGreat news Tom O, I’m looking forward to the release.
If there will be a 3 disc deluxe release, will it include the radio show from Eindhoven, NL from 1989 as you alluded to in the other S/T thread some time ago ?
Your request for videos from the 1988, 1989 era my search hasn’t been too fruitful but I do have a couple of suggestions.A given: The Rough Trade promotional video of “Passionate Kisses” coupled with perhaps this video from 1992 era with Mary Chapin Carpenter’s cover. Since Lu and Mary each were recipient’s of Grammy’s for the song I think it would make a nice inclusion to the disc. I did find at one time a video from the TNN TV series “American Music Shop” dated June 4, 1992 with Lu , Mary Chapin and Tim O’Brien doing “Passionate Kisses”, but it seems to have disappeared off the net.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TCMpA5TfHc
I found a short version of “Crescent City’ from 1991 at the Palomino Club (Ronnie Mack’s Barn Dance) with Lu starting at the 2:45 mark of the video. I think I posted this earlier in the forum.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBd2ZphZ8ecIf you wanted to include another cover ( which really pays high compliments to Lucinda ) is this one from 1990 with Patty Loveless singing “The Night’s Too Long”.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJPe27YBYoQAn obvious suggestion for the video disc would be to include a couple of songs from the great DVD “Live from Austin, TX October 13, 1989.
The DVD includes ALL songs from the S/T except for “Like a Rose” and ” I Asked For Water…..” or better yet include the whole DVD again (pending the OK from New West Records. It might help with the sales of the deluxe set ?There are lots of articles from this era that may lead to other possible videos to include.
For example:
Lu’s show on KCRW Jan. 4, 1989
Her appearance at the Cactus Cafe in Austin Oct. 15, 1988.
NPR Mountain Stage on Apr. 16, 1989
David Letterman Oct. 4, 1989.WHEW!, that’s it for now. lots of fun researching these goodies in my spare time.
