LWjettaParticipantCongratulations Lafayette to volunteer for Saratoga Springs.
I’ll certainly be tuned in to the Farm Aid webcast this Saturday and maybe will spot you at the press desk or in the 1st 5 rows to watch Amos.
I received the email two weeks ago from Amos on his new CD presale which interestingly had a Toronto, Ontario address, alas I’m not eligble for the immediate free download in Canada.
How many Farm Aids will this be for you ?lwj

Questions on Stubb’s for ya.
What’s the story on former tour manager Eric ?
Can you shed a little light on his replacement ?
Did you meet up with DDinNJ ?I’m kicking myself for not finding out until it was too late to tune into KUTX FM on Saturday afternoon. There was a pic of Lu and Stuart at the radio station on her facebook but I saw it too late.
From KUTX web site
Lucinda Williams is talented storyteller and songwriter, and a bona-fide American music legend, to boot. She weaves folk, blues, rock, and country influences together to create her compelling music, and she amassed a cult following. She began making albums in the late 70s, but her breakthrough album, Car Wheels on a Gravel Road, came out in 1998, cementing her status as a musician that was here to stay. She was named “America’s Best Songwriter” by Time magazine in 2002, won three Grammy awards, and toured with Bob Dylan. Williams is known for her legendary perfectionism, and each of her 11 albums took at least a few years to make.

LWjettaParticipantPartial video of cut # 2-“The Night’s too Long”
Wow, Luconda’s voice is really strong and if you watch the vid. in full screen there “appears” to be someone in a light T shirt front row, black hair directly below Lu’s music stand that may, just may resemble a FF fan.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7n7x82dJerc

LWjettaParticipantA review from “Speaker’s in Code”

LWjettaParticipantA new interview with Lucinda entitled “Get to Know Lucinda Williams”
A couple of highlights then the blog article Buzz. Very exciting news..buzz: Earlier this year, you left Lost Highway Records. Did you find a new label?
LW: Yes, we’re working with Thirty Tigers based in Nashville. It’s really cool, because Kim Buie, who was my A&R person for years and years, is now with Thirty Tigers. As a matter of fact, she just flew in today and she’s going to come over this afternoon and listen to the new songs, because we’re already starting pre-production for the new album. We’re going into the studio in October and I’ve got about 20 songs ready for that.buzz: Are you using all 20 for the record or will some not make the final cut?
LW: We’re actually talking about doing two separate albums. We’re thinking a rock one and a non-rock one with different musicians. We’re thinking we’ll record a bunch of stuff in L.A. in October and we can go to Nashville and cut some stuff there, because there’s a bunch of musicians we want to work with there.buzz: So you’re planning on using all 20 for the next albums?
LW: Well, there’s always a few of those that don’t make it. It’s always good to have a few extra songs, because then people ask for stuff for like movies or for different artists who are recording and looking for songs to cover.buzz: So for the new album, is there a title or have you scheduled a release date?
LW: We’re tossing some ideas around (for an album title), but I think it will be ready to go in the early part of the year, like Spring maybe. We’re doing two, so we’re just saying the one is rock and the other one is non-rock, kind of meaning country or whatever. It’s hard to tell which songs are going to be on which, but some are obvious. There’s a couple of the pretty ballads that will obviously be on the non-rock one, but then I’ve got some bluesy-stuff and we don’t really know which way that will go yet.The full article.

LWjettaParticipantpdl, I’m guilty of having some of these bootlegs, including KUT FM Austin 1981 and Slim’s in San Francisco, Feb./89, Slim’s is very shortly after the Rough Trade release and as per the band intro recording Lucinda opened for Joe Ely.
I believe Tom O was looking for video around the release date of late 1988 or 1989 which doesn’t seem to be found on the Net.
Back to the self-titled, I listened last night to disc 5 from the El Rey September 10, 2007 and it really whet’s the appetite for the re-release this fall. I love the in between song banter by Lucinda on these live recordings. For her band intro just before I Asked for Water she “forgot; to introduce the “Chet”
Hoping for another great live show in Nashville being broadcast on the radio. Here’s a trivia question for everyone from the album cover below.
What’s she looking at ?
Isn’t this one of the best of the best photos of Lu ?lwj
