LWjettaParticipant
Thought I would post this great pic. after I found it on one of the recent announcements for the re-release.
I’m assuming it’s never before published and will be in the revised liner notes for the S/T.[attachment=0:2mq06bnu]Lucinda-williams-1113-2.jpg[/attachment:2mq06bnu]lwj
LWjettaParticipantThanks Tom O for such a comprehensive update, very exciting news indeed.
A couple of comments.
1. Who is Davey F. ?
2. Your quote :”we have long versions (one 19 minute song that is so beyond description we aren’t sure what we’re going to do with it: KEEP it, it is double over Rarity and Lynard’s Free Bird.
3. Go ahead and overhype anytime in the friendly forum.lwj
LWjettaParticipantFrom Lu’s interview with Buzz posted earlier.
Quote:
buzz: Are you using all 20 for the record or will some not make the final cut?
LW: We’re actually talking about doing two separate albums. We’re thinking a rock one and a non-rock one with different musicians. We’re thinking we’ll record a bunch of stuff in L.A. in October and we can go to Nashville and cut some stuff there, because there’s a bunch of musicians we want to work with there.Sure looks like fantastic progress-what a team lineup with Lu.
“Non-Rock” album with reference to her facebook photo from 11/15
David Bianco, David Sutton, Tom Overby, Lu, Bill Frisell (with an unnamed puppy dog), Butch Norton, Greg Leiz, Shilah Morrow (of Sin City Social Club) and Pam Robinson(?)“Rock” album with reference to her facebook photos from 11/21
Lu, Ian McLagan, Stuart Mathis, Greg Leiz, Pete Thomas and Davey ? anybody’s guess on the Davey reference ?Anyway, here’s a treat to listen to from SXSW 1995 , you can listen to the whole mp3 concert (takes a little while to load-have patience). Pay particular attention to the keyboard on track # 4 CWOAGR courtesy of Ian McLagan.
Here’s the link to SXSW’s concert.

LWj, the way I took it they want your email address to send you updates. The password is to access your pledge info on that site. 8)
Thanks tonyg, you are right.

LWjettaParticipantJust got this email re: the box set Lafayette.
http://www.fanfire.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/Store.woa/wa/product?sourceCode=JMEWEB&sku=JME59062A great selection of 19 CD’s for $150.00
This may not apply to you Lafayette as you probably have em’ all 🙂 but I would love to pick this one up at my local record shop in December.lwj
LWjettaParticipantJust a short congrats. to Lucinda, Tom O and the rest of this crew on this long-awaited project coming to fruition.
Both the press release and the link to the Pledge Music site were welcome postings. I trust there will be a long and profitable relationship with 12th Street Records / Thirty Tigers. Nice to go to an independent label for a change.
A couple of questions please. On the 2nd disc appears the song “Goin’ Back Home” live from NOISE-THis is the only one I have not heard on his disc.
I know the song was re-recorded as a bonus track for the Koch S/T accompanied by Taj Mahal, but this live version remains a mystery. i.e. The only things I discovered were recorded in January, 1983 in NYC and written by an unknown author as a traditional song.
I assume NOISE is a now closed night club, but would like to know a bit of its history.
I’m looking forward to this live version.Secondly in reference to the Pledge Music site I’m a little surprised that they ask for your e=mail password when subscribing.
Finally only as a suggestion: If you haven’t thought of it all ready for the cover artwork-a sticker on the 25th anniversary as was done for Essence for the Grammy.
See my big scan of my disc cover and scroll down. Would be a nice touch to highlite this achievement.

tonyg, you forgot to mention that you missed the turnoff to GrumpyMama’s shotgun shack.
Here’s the proof thanks to your friend Etienne’s camera. 😆

By the way, Etienne has posted several other videos on this desert trip. Never seen so many wind power poles in my life, and I’ll mention tonyg had Sirius on for music. NO LU.LWjettaParticipantGreat research by all, thank you.
I’ve had no luck finding a set list for this show as well.Reminds me of my first ever Lucinda show-The West tour just before Council Bluffs @ Artpark in Lewiston, NY on July 18, 2007. I fondly remember no fans on stage 😆 and Charlie Louvin dancing up a storm with Lu.
Anyway, back to Council Bluffs for an interview with Charlie Louvin on “cussin'”
An excerpt:”Lucinda cusses like a bathroom full of sailors,” Louvin says of singer-songwriter Lucinda Williams, with whom he’s been touring for much of the summer. The two perform Saturday in Birmingham at the Alabama Theatre.
”We were playing an outdoor show, and it was hot on stage, and Lucinda had asked them to put a fan out there for her,” he says. ”Well, she got up there, and the fan wasn’t there, and she started cussing, and the strangest thing was, the audience clapped for her. I just don’t understand it.”The whole article:

LWjettaParticipantA recent You Tube from a house concert.
Song is “On the Road to Revenge”
Perhaps it’s a song from Anne’s new record.
Enjoy.

LWjettaParticipantLots of interesting tidbits from the Forum on this prior to the show including airports, accommodations, food, the weather and lack of internet, so we should expect some superb reports from the desert.
Should be a good one with Sara Petite opening but who will be on guitar Stuart or Doug ?lwj
LWjettaParticipantNew Jersey Nick, although this is not a DVD it’s an outstanding HQ one hour video from the studios of KCRW Santa Monica, CA recorded in Sep./07 to watch and enjoy.( previously posted the link on this Forum ) , so in case you missed it, here it is.
I have this one saved on my computer as a favorite.
Bring out the bourbon again for this one.http://www.kcrw.com/media-player/mediaPlayer2.html?type=video&id=mb070907lucinda_williams

LWjettaParticipantFrom the above post two records for release Spring 2014-one rock and one non-rock.
So, if you looked at Lu’s facebook from yesterday you will see a great photo of Lu and Bill Frisell with Greg Leisz on day one in the studio.
Here’s a non-rock Bill Frisell who appeared on WEST covering Lu’s Ventura- a full ten minutes of guitar magic to enjoy.

LWjettaParticipantAn A++++ report from the Fonda Theater, tonyg. Many thanks.
I looked up the venue and it’s quite the historic place.
There are several You Tubes now up.
I enjoyed watching them and was quite impressed with Jake’s guitar skills for the way his pickin’ moves all over quite rapidly.
Sure hope he tours Canada sometime.
Tell me, what was the age group for the concert and do you know if Lucinda ever held a show there ?lwj
