Erika’s on the “on” ramp, merging onto Big-Time Highway, LWj. Little ol’ Syracuse is falling away in the rearview mirror 😥
Lefty check out this recent TV Guide interview with Erika wearing her hot pants.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fm9-_ngm-KsBy the way, I had the pleasure of meeting 4 nice folks from Syracuse at the Abilene Bar across from the East Harrow Ballroom in Rochester in March/09 while attending Lu’s concert. They confirmed you were the one in the pink and blue shirt.
Best regards and keep on moderating one of the best Forums around.
lwjLWjettaParticipantSorry Lefty- Again you are “left” out. You wrote on July 31st below:
“When you see Erika, CB, wouldja tell ‘er please to bring it to Syracuse? She’s overdue!”
Now the HB’s fall tour is listed on their web site. The closest to up-state NY is Toronto on Nov. 11/09 again at the Kool Haus where I saw them on August 3rd. I’ve already got my tickets.
It’s not that far from Syracuse for you.lwj
LWjettaParticipantJust wondering who Inside Job and Lu have invited to attend this memorable event on stage in Mpls.
Perhaps their special guests may include Gurf M., Charlie L., and of course, Doug P.
A big drum roll from Butch should start off the ceremony which, hopefully will be on a webcast courtesy of webMASTA.
Lu has always been full of surprises, so who knows who will attend.
Again, best wishes to the happy couple.
lwj
LWjettaParticipantCongrats Lu and Tom;
Since this event will be at First Avenue , I am wondering if webMASTSA has enought time to put together another webcast for Sep. 18, 2009 like he did for Oct. 23, 2008.
Just imagine hearing the “I do’s” live from the venue.Best wishes for the future.
Regards.

Unfortunately, the second night is not the same story… Hopefully, in time, it will sell-out. Boy howdy, it would be nice to see some interesting double-bills…

row R out of Y.
Still more than a month away to buy tickets eh?
I saw Lu in Toronto at Massey Hall on Oct. 11/08 and remember lots of fans purchasing tickets on the night of the concert- capacity approx. 2,800 seats sold approx 75%-same in Ra-cha-cha in March./09The Queen Elizabeth theater in Toronto has 1,256 seats available, and I hope like you David for a great double bill for Lu’s 30th

LWjettaParticipantLike tonyg, I have read several reviews of the festival-a lot of people complained about the prices and even one where you could not purchase a beer unless you had a Visa card.
I did find 2 photos on our gal Lu.
this is from the SF Examiner entertainment section under photo galleries-page 2.” The crowd listens to LW on the Sutro stage……”

Lefty said it all via the Zombies song.
Since I live in Ontario, Canada, I won’t be in the Bay area for the Outside Lands Festival.
But if I was there and after looking at the venue map, I would have a limo standing by to start at the Sutro stage for Buick 6 and Lu from 4:45 to 5:12 p.m and then whisk me off to the Solar stage to see the HB’s from 5:13 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Roughly 2/3 Lu and 1/3 Erika.( After all, this is Lu’s friendly forum.)When I spoke with Erika in Toronto, she asked me how I first discovered their band and I told her it was thru Lu’s forum. ( thanks to Lefty ). She remarked that she opened twice for Lu a while back and was one of their memorable evenings.

The Queen Elzabeth Theater is showing for the first night, Oct. 10th exactly the same listing as T Overby did in this thread earlier
See
http://www.queenelizabeththeatre.ca/event16.htmlPerhaps T Overby can clarify the conflict with Pollstar.
As I mentioned previously, I got 2nd row seats for Oct. 10thRegards
lwjLWjettaParticipantA nice read on Erika from REAX.
Erika quotes:
“She can notice the influence of some of her heros, musicians like Lucinda Williams and Neil Young”

LWjettaParticipantHi Lefty
Just to keep you in the loop on our gal Erika.
Nice interview in Chicago from the Lollapalooza festival.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bfya01ZuLJ8
Also a couple of back stage songs from the local radio station in Chicago are just posted on You Tube.
Hey. you wished in a previous thread that the HB’s would come to upstate NY-perhaps Syracuse.
I’m sure you are aware they will be in Buffalo this Thursday at the University.
Even though I saw their performance just last week in Toronto, Buffalo is 40 minutes from where I live in Ontario and I’ll be there.lwj
LWjettaParticipantThank you bigsubi for posting this.
Now, as a Lu “cheerleader”, what we just saw at Zaragoza, Spain was a ready made 47 minute DVD of superb quality in a beautiful venue. We are lacking DVD’s of Lu-only ACL from 1989 and 1998 have been published as far as I know.
Perhaps Inside Job ( TOverby)with his extensive background in the Biz can somehow acquire publishing rights from the TV station.
I would buy this concert in a flash.Regards.

LWjettaParticipantTnTracy admirably put it as follows;
LIVE NATION SUCKS!!!!!
I was looking for tickets for Oct.10/11/2009 Queen Elizabeth Theater in Toronto-on sale 10:00a.m. today
and couldn’t get decent seats on -line so I took 1/2 hour off work and went to the Ticketmaster/Live Nation outlet.
I now have two tickets for both nights in Row B Left orchestra ( 2nd row from the stage ) Yahoo! My point about Live Nation sucks are their outrageous fees.
Face value of each ticket is $42.50 CDN plus $16.00 of fees for a total of $56.50lwj
LWjettaParticipantOur “girl”, wearing a bright orange dress ( not hot pants ) and the boys in the band put on a powerfull 40 minute show to a packed standing room only in Toronto on Mon. night opening for the Decemberists.
Sway and the Mountain were extended versions.
Lucky enough to meet all the HB’s and got autographs-including from the merchandise girl-can’t remember her name but she was born and raised in Austin, TX ( remember the “Ra-Cha-Cha” thread about Susanna?)
Erika asked me how I first heard about their group and when I told her that it was thru Lu’s forum, she graciously related how they enjoyed opening for her a couple of times.Got to talk with the group outside as they were loading their equipment into their trailer.=No big “metal firecracker” for them-a plain Ford van hauling a utility trailer.
Jesse (guitar) just returned from his annual vacation in Canada at the family cabin near Ottawa (my home town)-He told me they are fully booked until Christmas and are working on a few ideas for a new album.
I asked Erika about their Austin City Limits taping and she said it should air on PBS in December or January.I would bet that they will be headlining their shows in the near future. The energy they put out on stage was great .
Thanks Lefty for posting the interview with Erika, our Swedish gal, for their concert tonight in Wisconsin.
All in all a great evening in Toronto. ( By the way the Decemberists rocked the venue as well.)
lwj
LWjettaParticipant“Who wears Short Shorts”?
Erika does.
Lefty , don’t let Mrs. Lefty catch you watching this.
This is from the All Points West Festival in NJ 2 nights ago.

I’m off to see the HB’s tonight in Toronto .
Will report later.lwj
LWjettaParticipantRugles, TN Tracy and Paul from Losangeles
Re: Oct. 10,11,2009 at the Qween Elizabeth Theater. Vancouver vs. Toronto.
Looks like good news.
I just got off the phone.
Called Bruno Sinopoli-the Operations / Booking Manager for the Queen Elizabeth Theater at Exhibition Place in Toronto, ON. See their contact info on their web site.He confirmed that the dates are reserved for Lu thru High Road Touring-not Vancouver and an official posting should be on the Theater’s Web site soon.
The following is from Rugles:i too would love a Toronto show, being only an hour away
its funny, when i saw the tour posted on Pollstar … i thought she is going to be doing a lot of flying rather than bussing between shows .. which seemed unusual and a waste of money
i hope its Toronto but Pollstar still has it in Vansterdam and I am sure if it was a mistake it would have been fixed by now
Hey Rugles-I see you are from St. Catharines, ON.
I work in St. Catharines and live in Niagara on the Lake, ON.Regards to all.
