To join the conversation on the air, call us at 1-800-423-8255 during a live broadcast.

    I tried and tried.
Busy signal, Re-dial, Busy Signal, Re-dial………….Busy signal, Re-dial, Busy Signal, Re-dial………….

I really enjoyed the interview including the song clips and appreciated Lu’s honesty about a callers comments on alcohol.
Loved her story when she was 17 living in Mexico City. She started her singing career there under the name of Cindy Williams. ( Wasn’t there another Cindy Williams from the “Lavergne & Shirley” TV show? )

I really wonder though if some of the callers were kind of pre-screened and they got on the air before we had a chance.

For example caller Rose Polermo from Nashville knew Lu from many years ago. Lu remembered her and they remininsced for a while.
Caller Vance Gilbert from Arlington, MA knew Lu personally as well. He has his own band-into folksinging.
Caller “Lu” can you believe it from Charleston, SC-She talked about “Car Wheels” and then was most direct in the alcohol question.

If I had got through on air, my question to Lu wouldn’t have been a question but merely a compliment and thank you as a fan and having the good fortune of her hubby Tom for taking such an active interest in the Forum. I feel we can pretty well ask anything about Lu’s career and the future and Tom will give us a response. No need to read about her in the papers. I don’t think there are many other singer’s forum sites with this advantage.

Actually, it is – remember? A new forum member, “Itchy Skin” posted up that he/she was the eBay bidder who beat me out for the copy of the “In Touch…” interview CD and then verified that the song from the YouTube video indeed came from this CD…

    Tom[/quote

Well 99.999% finished for “This Blue”, but you asked Lu’s Hubby if he had received the CD from Lost Highway and he said no and will follow up.
As I said to Drunken Angel, I would like to see it posted on the Forum’s Record section for us all to have a listen from the real ( not Limewired ) version.

By the way, my compliments on your extensive Lu collection.
Someday please list your library for us.
You probabily have some “Rarities” in your list.

    Thanks

P.S. I think the image of Buick Blues I posted is a ’56 Roadmaster. That sure dates me because I was a teenager back then.

Buick Blues (Version One)” (as it is fully titled on the CD), is credited as written by Lu. It is an old-time blues, coming in at only 2 minutes 45 seconds, with Lu singing and playing a twangy, slightly distorted acoustic guitar.

    Thanks Tnt
While you were posting this, I tried Rhapsody and it wouldn’t let me play the song as “I appeared to be from outside the U.S.A.”-True.
Didn’t give up and was able to listen to it from I think a Japanese or Chinese web site. You are right-really twangy.

You know , we could have easily created another Forum Trivia for this song-much like “This Blue”, but that thread still isn’t really finished until we hear from T. Overby.

    Regards.

Ok look at the top of your screen in Lu’s web-site

It was a great mystery that you started.
    Enjoyed it to the nth.

I’m also the guy that won the aforementioned eBay auction for the “In Touch” CD (sorry about that Mr. tntracy…). I can confirm that the version of “Blue” heard on that You Tube video has been taken from this CD.

Wow, Ichy Skin, another Canuck beat out our Moderator (Tnt) by $0.50 on this CD bidding.
It really was an interesting mystery for me and a lot of fun using Google and Yahoo to the max.

This “Blue” thread with 56 replies and 752 views so far was rapidly approaching The “Ra-Cha-Cha Last Night Report” with 38 replies and 1205 views. Everyone will remember Lefty and others were game to stretch the thread for two or three weeks until Lu and Buick 6 headed to Australia / New Zealand.

Anyway, we are confident T. Overby will add this recording to the record page for all to enjoy once he receives the disc from Lost Highway.

You will enjoy Erika’s music live Lafayette. Thanks for the Holiday greeting-same goes to you and your family.
Here is a cute excerpt from Erika’s recent interview in San Antonio.

Quote”When we toured with Lucinda Williams, she asked if I’d be into playing guitar on ‘Joy’, and her stage manager ended up showing me the chords so I could play an additional rhythm,” Wennerstrom said. “I couldn’t just freestyle” end of quote.

The interview starts off with Erika trying to get a drink from the bartender before appearing on stage.

Just one more You Tube you might enjoy Tnt. from Monday’s Holiday Jam concert in Toronto on our two gals-Sarah and Kathleen.
This one is Jim Bryson singing “The Fisherman’s Blues ” song accompanied by Sarah singing with acoustic guitar and Kathleen on violin.

Hey Tnt, I seem to remember a photo of another Sarah posing as the Statue of Liberty on the streets of NYC following Lu’s 1st night 30th Anniversary Tour last Fall. Great photo by the way.

Looks like it’s available from Amazon.com

“Dogs and Thunder” is very moving.
Just for something to do, the only You Tube on this beautiful song is as below: They don’t look like dogs to me!

The only Sarah Harmer album I own is “I’m a Mountain”
One of the songs “Escarpment Blues” is one of my favorites. It’s about the Niagara Escarpment region where I live.
How fortunate we are to have so much great music to fill our library.

    What a great collection Tnt.
Now back to the Holiday Jam Benefit Concert last night with Kathleen Edwards and many others.

The weatherman called for freezing rain and I couldn’t imagine a 1 and 1/2 hour drive at maybe midnight driving back home to Niagara in that weather. Right now it is really snowing out. Winter in Canada is nothing like the balmy weather of Georgia. Anyway, The $40.00 I spent on the ticket goes to a good cause The Sick Childrens Hospital. I’ll catch Kathleen again, I’m sure as she and Colin live about 40 minutes from me in Hamilton, ON and they do many gigs there.
Another Canadian music Country-Indie artist-Sarah Harmer- was also at last night’s show. She played “Eddie’s Attic” on March 11, 2006. See You Tube. I didn’t realize Eddie’s was such an intimate venue-no talking aloud.
That’s the best way to really enjoy a performer.
Here is a video from last night featuring Sam Roberts singing Kenny Roger’s “The Gambler” You will see our gal Kathleen having a drink while watching a hot poker game.
