I’ve never heard of this film – has any one else? If you have seen it, is the band’s appearance prominent in the film, or just “in the background”. I’m going to have to see if I can find a copy…

Tnt-You sure know how to start the New Year with this puzzler.
I am totally confused by my “detective” work on this one.

I have now seen 3 movie trailers-Nothing is making much sense.
The movie F.T.W. stands for “F***The World” or “Frank T. Wells” but also was marketed as “The Last Ride”
One trailer is about “choppers” ( motorcycles ), another is about a rodeo and yet a third goes back to 1944 on Turner Classic Movies.

I did see the Carnival Band and Charlie Sexton listed.
I’ve got another 2 hours or so to continue the search before tuning in to The Sugar Bowl.@tntracy wrote:

but it would be too easily researched on the Internet, so…

    You gotta be kidding.

P.S. I did find out that the 1994 movie is “R” rated

Is it worthwhile to purchase with only 5 songs on it?

P.S. What a great way to bring in 2010 to listen to and dialogue on good music, besides it’s snowing like heck where I am.

Tom will definitely have to weigh in on this one, but I am still leaning towards unauthorized

I totally agree. Let’s wait to hear from TO.
In the meantime, on this New Year’s Day, here is a You Tube from the same company marketing the Basel, Switzerland Concert (Authorized or Unauthorized-That is the question )
This is from Nov./07 from Rockpalast in Koln, Germany. It was originally broadcast on WDR ( a German station )
and it is listed as a full concert on DVD.
The song is “Out of Touch” from good old Essence-except it is 7:24 in length vs the original at 5:25 and really features a great guitar riff by Lu and Doug P.
    Enjoy

Very kind of you. What a nice way to start off the New Year on the “Friendly Forum”
I’ll send you a pm. If you are ever down Niagara way, the beer is on me.

Thank you for helping me add to my Lu collection.

also may be dead wrong on these being unauthorized DVDs (Tom can clarify), but I just wanted to point out to others that these DVDs might not be produced or authorized by Lu & Tom…

Excellent comments. I always buy my music.
But have a look at this re: AVO Sessions 2007 from Basel.
Also look at the producer’s main page- C Major Entertainment-Looks like they have been around for a while having produced AVO Sessions for many years.
Here is the link to Lucinda’s DVD
    http://www.cmajor-entertainment.com/html/all_programs.html
Scroll way down under Popular Music
Also here is a picture of the front and back of the DVD It looks to be so authentic with bar codes etc. but who knows.
Sorry it is so big, but you can get the idea.

Perhaps, as you suggested TO can confirm yey or ney as to authorized.
When I first saw the sample clip, I got excited about the quality.

Did you find any adds to your spreadsheet yet.

Not really related to guest appearances, but we all know DVD’s of Lucinda Williams are very limited.

    Here are 2 “unreleased” DVD’s from 2007.
Basel Switzerland and Koln ( Cologne ) Germany that it looks like we can buy.
Both feature a short clip and appear to be in very high quality.

if I had to pick one and only one “desert island” Lu album, it would be Essence – I absolutely love this album.

Totally agree, especially if I can con Itchy Skin into burning a copy of “Essence/ In Touch with the famous KGSR “Blue” version since he is also from Ontario, Canada.

Failing that, I will keep a watch on E-Bay.

If anyone is watching the game, we have tickets in the lower section of the dome, 24 rows up, in the corner of one of the end zones. I doubt there will be TV coverage in that section but you never know.

    Lafayette;
Please be more specific from the attached seating chart.

    What will you be wearing?
Examples might be: A West Chester, OH cap, A Bear Cats hoodie, a Lu T-shirt, WHO-DEY gloves, etc.

Most of all, have fun at the game, at your friend’s tail gate party at the mansion and exploring Lu’s past in New Orleans.

Dave, you really have put a lot of effort into your web site.
I especially liked the ticker tape moving concert ticket stubs-wish some of those low prices would come back.
The Top 5 categories were great.
    1. CD’s of 2009 by Gurf Morlix
    2. Top Breakup songs-wahoo— Lu made # 1 with “Can’t Let Go”
    3.Lu’s humor in her top 5 “I added a 6th song because 5 isn’t enough”
4.Awkward Moments in My Life-Hilarious one about sitting next to Tom Waits while he was having his ketchup breakfast.

I’ll have to add your site as a Favorite on my computer to keep up to date on the Chicago music scene.

P.S.From your bio on your web site re: Patti Smith-a reminder if you have Sirius to tune in tonight 12/31/09

Quote-You wrote”I’ve seen some incredible shows, including many by the Boss, but perhaps the topper was Patti Smith in 1998 at the Riviera”. End Quote.

Thanks TO for mentioning Jerry Douglas-otherwise, I would not have watched this ACL show which included a guest appearance of Patti Griffin and great back-up vocals / guitar by none other than Jim Lauderdale.

Did I miss who the guitar player is?

    Good catch Drunken Angel.
Here is the answer I think.
Tim O’Brien (b. March 16, 1954 in Wheeling, West Virginia) is a Grammy Award-winning American country and bluegrass musician. In addition to singing, he plays guitar, fiddle, mandolin, bouzouki and mandocello.

How ironic in these Trivia mysteries Drunken Angel starts “This Blue” and it takes almost 1,000 views and two months to solve it.
Now he solves ” American Music Shop” in less than two days.

    Congrats.

This is exactly why I wrote under Lucinda in General re:NPR 12/21-If I was able to get thru on the phone in-no question for Lu-just a compliment about her hubby taking such an active part in this Forum. Keep the news coming in 2010
