    Just a clarification.
I meant-Which band did Doug P. play with prior to this Love Band photo. Dwight Yoakam’s ?

Information released on Mellencamp’s recording sessions for “No Better Than This.” The press release mentions the set up at Sun Studio exactly as Elvis and Johnny Cash recorded (instruments in same places) as well as exact setup Robert Johnson recorded in San Antonio. Everything recorded in mono stereo, same microphone for vocals as instruments, recorded live, no overdubs.

Lafayette, When is this to be released? Couldn’t find any info.
    OK, I found this.
Next Album – John’s forthcoming studio album, “No Better Than This,” remains on schedule for release next Fall. Kurt Markus’s documentary on the making of the album–which took place last summer at the First African Baptist Church in Savannah, Ga., Sun Studio in Memphis and the Gunter Hotel in San Antonio–is still in production, and will also include footage from the The Bob Dylan Show with John Mellencamp and Willie Nelson tour.

What I did find, because I supported Farm Aid 2009 in a membership-looking at NEIL videos, that you are a BIG John M. fan. Love his (J.M.’s) music-Does he ever come to Canada?
The closest to where I live was him appearing in July/09 in Syracuse, NY.
I also found J.M.’s “The Mellenblog” where, it appears someone from West Chester, OH is a major contributor.
Plus ,from this Blog I could watch all of his Farm Aid songs on You Tube.

Finally, since this is Lucinda’s Forum-did you first become a fan from her 2008 tour opening for John?
    Gotta love the music.

Re: The “Love Band”, here is a link to Rockmount Ranch Wear in Denver, CO.
A photo of the band with the statement that they were Dwight Yoakam’s band before.
Did this also include Doug P. or what was he up to pre-2002?

Lu also sings on the closing track, “She Belongs To Me.” I have a copy of this CD that Doug autographed for me after a Lu show in Ventura, CA.

Where did that quote about the Black Polka Dots come from, LWJ?

When you click on the song title you get what I pasted above.
Are you now asking me to Google “Black Polka Dots”?
That’s a nice souvenir to have from Doug.

I also listened to “She Belongs to me” from the same link.Sure sounds like Becky Mae singing to me.

Sorta off the HB’s topic, but thought you would enjoy this one.

I would be more than happy to forward Lu’s handwritten NO lists to anyone interested. Hopefully, webmasta can master uploading these gems.

A big thanks to Lafayette. I received the notes last night as Pdf’s via e-mail.
What an add to my collection of Lu memorbilia. I don’t know how Lucinda does it in her busy schedule but to take the time to write such detailed notes is something else.
TO replied yesterday to fuiji81 under Lucinda Shows ” She has finished 3 songs in the last two days” ( Faster then the great song from World Without Tears ” Those Three Days “).
Everyone will be suitably impressed when WebMasta gets the notes up on the site.

I have finished my NOLA recap following in Lu’s footsteps.

Lafayette, just a superb read of your blog.
You surely have earned your PhD in “Luology” with a strong minor in computer savvy.
I loved the Preservation Hall web site with it’s virtual interactive tour.
One sign you can zoom in on was neat, as follows”
    Tradional Request $2.00 , Others $5.00, The Saints $10.00
The black and white video of Sweet Emma Barrett pounding on the piano was great.

I felt like I had returned to New Orleans from your report.
It must have been very special to receive hand-written notes from Lucinda for your tour.

Great weekend of music. Friday night spent with Bo Ramsey and Greg Brown at a small and accoustically sound room called One Longfellow Square. Bo and Greg bring terrific music forward with Bo opening the show in his competent, deep-rooted, and sure-footed manner.

I looked up “One Longfellow Square” in Portland, and man do they have a great lineup of shows.
One that would be great to see is on Jan.26/10. “An acoustic Cafe Evening” with Carrie Rodriguez.

Re; Bo, I see he is playing again with Greg Brown at the “Community School of Theatre & Art” on Feb.11/10 in Ithica, Ny.
That’s about a three hour drive for me, so I’m thinking about it.

Here is a new article on Bo from the December, 2009 issue of Premier Guitar Magazine entitled “Bo Ramsey: Bo Knows Tone” that is worth a read.

however, I do have some Who-Dey collectible beer cans (a take on a former local beer, Hudepohl or Hudy for short, which was some really nasty stuff), unopened, from our 1988 season when we went to Super Bowl. Does that count?

Yesterday’s game may want you to cry in your beer Lafayette

Shayne Graham missing the field goals didn’t help, but it looks like from watching the game everyone had a lot of fun.

So, here are some memories of Hudy.

    Another Kathleen Edwards EP.
This was released in Sep./08 called “Live Session EP”-a ITunes exclusive.
    Here are the details:

    http://itunes.apple.com/ca/album/live-session-itunes-exclusive/id290830946
Says, maybe only available in Canada, eh.

Funny, I was sorting out my record collection the other day, and noticed Kathleen has her own production company.
You can see the name on the jewel cases. It is called “Potty Mouth Productions, Inc.

Doesn’t seem like an appropriate name she chose, since she is such a timid, mild-mannered musician. Haw Haw.

Yeah, I have this obsessive tendency to try and acquire every CD & DVD available for my favorite artists. But, keep trying! I’d love for you to uncover something I’m lacking!

How about this one. “Building 55” ? Kathleen’s first recording. Interesting title. I wonder where this came from.

Building 55 was an EP released in 1999 by Canadian singer-songwriter Kathleen Edwards. Only 500 copies of the EP were printed, and it has become a highly sought-after collector’s item following the success of Edwards’ subsequent albums Failer, Back To Me and Asking for Flowers.

LWJ, in regards to Dayton, the HB website had tickets to this gig as a preorder. Its frustrating knowing they were at two venues near me and the timing just didn’t work out for me to see them. Bengals game today, we pulled it out in the end, won, AFC champs headed to the playoffs for the first time in 19 years ! It’s been a squeaker of a season, and unless they step up their play, it will be one and out in playoffs, but it doesn’t matter, we’re in post season play, and I plan on shouting WHO DEY in a freezing stadium at a home game in early January!

Here is today’s weather forecast for the game Lafayette
    Spotty Snow Showers/Flurries Continue
    Bengals Today 4:30PM
    23F, Wind NW 7-12mph,
    WChill 5F – 15F, Flurries
Temperatures did not drop at all overnight and as a result many locations are at the same temperature or a bit warmer than last evening.
That’s good news because tailgaters will not be as cold as I originally thought.
Look for a high temperature around 25F today about the same at game time.

    Enjoy the game.
By the way, there are 4 or 5 You Tube videos just posted on the HB’s recent gig at the Southgate House. Not the best quality however.

Thought everyone might enjoy this live version of “Crescent City” with Emmylou Harris and Lucinda.
It features Emmylou’s band-The Nashville Ramblers so this performance goes way back.
