LWjettaParticipant
tonyg just wondering as you were listening to this new gem, if you could easily detect jazz guitarist extraordinaire, Mr. Bill Frisell ?
He’s making a movie by a pledge campaign.
Lu is interviewed in the movie. Here are the details.

On my way to load in hospitality etc for tonight’s show. It promises to be a very special one. Wish us luck..
Let us know how the evening went FC356.
In the meantime this may be a clue from a posting on facebook.
“down where the soul meets the bone”…think that’s how it goes. – an amazing evening – we are Blessed Hope you find your way back to Lake Charles again soon ! Now that you have the Key, you can just let yourself in next time you visit.

LWjettaParticipantHere’s a preamble for tonight’s gig at the ranch.
It’s a comprehensive report and photos from last year’s Festival.
What a venue to park the tour bus in and stoger if you are attending free lunch and dinner is included with your ticket.
Enjoy.

LWjettaParticipantHere’s a You Tube of Lucinda just posted today on “Boulder to Birmingham” from Emmylou’s induction ceremony 2008 in the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Lucinda Williams came next to sing “Boulder to Birmingham,” Harris’ heartfelt response to Parson’s death. “I was in tears a couple of times listening to all those songs,” Williams revealed. “I’ve never been so nervous before.” Her inward-looking, almost distracted rendition of the song earned her a standing ovation.โ
Very, very touching tribute by Lu.

And how did he slip me all this information anonymously? ๐ฏ
Aside from the Snowden style infiltration by tonyg, I have noted from a Lu video that “Buttercup” was reported by her to be the only “Bad Boy” song on Blessed.
Now, I’m thinking these types of songs are not completely out of her system now that she is happily hitched.
Cold Day in Hell, Big Mess and Wrong Number in the new record seems to fit this category. ๐
Looking forward to the release in the fall.

LWjettaParticipantNice of you to set the start of this looong tour tonyg.
I would be pleased to act as backup setter upper preamble for any shows you might be at the golf course on much as I did for the Euro tour of 2013 ๐
Happy and safe touring to Lu and crew.

Here is what I can tell you right now. There are no other shows around the Chicago date -it is a one off festival show that also features the singer of a very prominent Chicago based band sharing the headline. This definitely will not connect to the Portland and Seattle shows. Gotta give the boss a little time off.
We are working on setting up the shows for probably Oct/Nov after the release of the album in later Sept.
We will also be doing a show on 9/26 on the Santa Monica Pierat the ocean here in LA. THe fall tour will probably kick off a week or so after that.
Needless to say there are lots of things happening.
thanks for the update, boss-spouse. Jon Langford or Jeff Tweedy come to mind, but it may be even bigger potatoes in the Windy City. At any rate, the short-term is our focus now. Can you say Lone Star?
Stoger and others, everyone should know by now.
For 7/12 Lu will be sharing the headline with Wilco’s frontman as per attached for the Taste of Chicago Festival

.http://www.cityofchicago.org/city/en/depts/dca/supp_info/taste_of_chicago2.htmlAnd Mr. Jon Langford is on for Sunday, 7/13/14 at the Hideout in Chicago.
I’ve added Chicago to the show list on page one of this thread.

LWjettaParticipantLucky, lucky you co-moderator.
Album title is a great tribute to Lucinda’s father.Have compassion for everyone you meet,
even if they donโt want it. What seems conceit,
bad manners, or cynicism is always a sign
of things no ears have heard, no eyes have seen.
You do not know what wars are going on
down there where the spirit meets the bone. And the link.

p.s. I got the clue from the inside cover of “West”
LWjettaParticipantThe Bastards started their mini Euro tour last night opening for the Drive-By Truckers.

For NFBs (Non-Facebookers) –
Chicago – save the date – 7/12 – details coming soon. ๐
Questions/Rumors.
1. Start of a new double disc record release tour ?
2. Chicago venues: Park West, Durty Nellie’s (Palatine, IL), City Winery, Space (Evanston, IL) ?
3. Is this the marathon tour of all tours for Lucinda from mid May in Texas to Arkansaw in August ?lwj
LWjettaParticipantGreat interview Lafayette.
Angela comes across with a cute shyness.
Such a busy band that is certainly going places.Would love to travel to the Abilene Bar in Rochester but it’s a Friday night and recently I took on a part-time accounting job on Mon., Wed. and Fri., so I must miss this.
I went to the Abilene in March ’09 before a Lucinda show. Kool place on 2 levels with a huge beer selection. Stoger and Lefty also reported going there but at the time I hadn’t the pleasure of meeting them.lwj

Here’s that Alaska show:
Aug 2 Salmonstock Music Festival
http://www.salmonstock.org/lineup/lucinda-williams
Added to show list on page 1.
Takes place in Ninilchik, AK – a small village population 882. see map for location.
As I reported a couple days ago under the general category another Lu discussion forum complete with a video of Lu and the band Tim Easton and the Whipshaws at SXSW, guess who else is in the Salmonstock lineup-Tim Easton.
Here’s what Lu said on the Whipsaws web site ***** really censored******The Whipsaws took 60 Watt Avenue to the Lower 48 for three lengthy tours in 2008. The spring tour culminated with appearances at the SXSW Music Festival. Their final gig was as backing Tim Easton (who performed on 60 Watt Avenue) at the Continental Club where Lucinda Williams joined them for a rendition of Bob Dylanโs classic, “Meet Me in The Morning.”
Williams was straight to the point about The Whipsaws.
“This is awesome, this is true, earth, down to the roots, bottom of the soul, f****** grease, f****** blues and rock โnโ roll right here. … Iโm so f****** impressed. Itโs hard to impress me, ya know what Iโm sayinโ?”Here’s a map of Ninilchik
And a very clever photo from last year at Salmonstock
Note to the band: bring a fishing rod and lots of mosquito spray.lwj

Added to the schedule on page 1 which at this rate may take up 2 pages to list all gigs., tickets only $5.00 , downtown Rochester.Martin Luther King Jr. Park.
A tempting show for me to attend (3 hr. drive)LWjettaParticipant@stoger wrote:
Mathis or McCallum?
Found another pic much clearer but too large to upload.
Pretty sure it’s a member of the Jack Shit band as Val has much longer hair than Stuart.
Set List:
Lucinda Williams pays tribute to @tompetty at ASCAP pop awards with a slowed down ‘Rebel’ & Running Down a Dream
