    Hey”inside birdie”-What’s the story?

Tnt-By the way, our local Chapters book store has ordered this issue for me. Only $12.95 and no shipping.
How do you like the songs in it?

I didn’t realize Doug Pettibone had a connection with Anne as well as Lucinda.
I knew Lu sang back up on “Koala Motel”.
Here’s a nice photo of Doug P. with Anne re: the song “Shivers” on the album.

Looking forward to Anne’s new CD. Thanks for posting tntracy.

A bit of history to remind folks about her link with Lucinda for those who don’t remember.
Anne opened for Lu on a record 25 tour dates in 2002 on the Essence tour.
As an Australian, Anne appeared on the Rockwiz TV series.( great videos to watch )

Here is Anne’s My Space site outlining her 2010 tour dates and I’m in luck to see her.
She will be appearing at the Fred Eaglesmith ( Juno winner in country music ) Charity Picnic on August 20, 2010 in Aylmer, Ontario ( about a 1 &1/2 hour drive for me).
Fred invites artists from all over Canada and the USA to this outdoor festival which raises funds and awareness on conservation matters.

Bob Dylan acquired the rights to 25 unfinished Hank Williams songs.
Lu’s cover is “I’m so happy I found you”

Quote Lucinda explained the fascinating background before launching into this piece near the end of her Sept 26, 2009 concert in Charlottesville. Bob Dylan acquired the lyrics to twenty-five unfinished Hank Williams songs and passed out the tracks to various musicians. Each lucky artist then added music to the unfinished Hank Williams words, and the results will be compiled into a giant compilation CD. Someof the participants, I later learned are Willie Nelson, Jack White, Alan Jackson, and Bob Dylan. She lamented the delay in releasing the album as she recorded this song three years ago. So here it is! We had seats in the second row for this amazing concert. end Quote

I can’t find any info on the release of this compilation yet, but it looks like it could be added to your spreadsheet some day tntracy.
I guess this would be the 2nd Hank Williams tribute in addition to Lucinda’s Grammy nomination for “Cold Cold Heart” in 2002.
Here is the song from Charlottesville.

The Hb’s are on the road again, this time with Amy Cook opening.
Here is their 2010 schedule so far. Can’t wait for further details for the East Coast tour.

    Hey Everyone,
Hope early 2010 is treating you well. We are definitely ready to get back on the road. You’ll see below that we’re playing Shreveport and Houston this week, then board a plane Saturday, headed to Cork, Ireland. We’ll be in Ireland, The UK, France & Spain touring with Brendan Benson . You can get show/ticket info below.

After Europe, we’ll take a few weeks off and then head out to the West Coast. We were offered so many great support tours last year, we couldn’t say no – so this will be our first headline tour since The Mountain was released. The full tour line up is still being worked out, we’ll announce it on our websites soon. Our friend & talented musician Amy Cook will be on the road with us, she’ll open each night, and she’ll sing harmonies with me (Erika) on “Could Be So Happy” . The plan is to find a way to play every song, as it is on the record, or come damn close.

We’ll soon announce an East Coast tour as well, details will be in the next e-blast. We will be bringing great new t-shirt designs on tour, we’ll let you know as soon as they’re available in the webstore. We are excited to announce the first ever pressing of Stairs & Elevators on vinyl is now in our webstore. We pressed it on 180 gram, the fancy gatefold packaging contains a hand written lyric sheet. The first several boxes of the album are signed and there’s only a few of those left! So order now!

We are repressing All This Time on vinyl right now, the 1st pressing was on white vinyl, and the new pressing will be on black 180 gram. It will be in the store very soon.

We hope to see you all out on the road.

    Take care,

    Erika, Jesse, Dave, and Mark

No You Tube low quality this time for Erika and the Heartless Bastards.

Here is a 26 minute Concert / Interview that was aired last night on PBS WHYY in Philadelphia.
The HB’s opened for Wolfmother Nov. 6/09 at the Electric Factory.
The concert is interspersed with interviews from Erika. Even includes some of her family photos. “Syracuse Lefty”, you think Erika is cute now, you should see her photo as a little girl on the video.
Great guitar riffs with Jesse and Mark and the last song is “Gray”-one of my favorites. I don’t think you can find faster guitar picking than Erika on this one.

    Here we go.

Thanks all for your insight and advice.

Oh, I don’t know, LWJ – that would be awfully pricey for me to see Pieta Brown, especially as an opening act with a short set

I agree, I’ll hold onto my wallet for this show. My preference would have been Buffalo. ( a little closer drive )
The most expensive concert I have ever attended ( paid$145+fees) and don’t regret it one bit was NEIL, December, 2008 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto with Wilco opening. This is a 20,000 seat venue and was sold out so fast that a 2nd night was added. Re: Wilco, I attended their sold out concert in Hamilton, On last night for $42.+ fees. Great evening with a 2 1/2 hour set including a 6 song encore. Once Jeff and the band took the stage almost everyone (except the 1st 2 or 3 rows) stood and remained standing for the entire time.

    @TOverby wrote:

LJW–Here is something else to think about. Many of these show in that price range and above are not selling out-not saying this one will or won’t, but in many cases they aren’t. What has been happening is that ticket prices are greatly reduced in the last week or so before the show, and you can get them for pennies on the dollar. It’s not always very publicized when they do this, for many reasons, but it has been happening a lot in recent times.

OK Tom O-So what’s the trick for last minute deals? If it’s a Ticket****** / Live Nation promotion, do they actually announce reduced prices?

    @DavidinMaine wrote:

More specifically LwJ, you could visit The Rosebud Agency in order to get the real-time low down goods

Excellent site David. Two things struck me-Jim Lauderdale is on their list of artists-Would love to see his concert some day. The 2nd thing was the link to The House of Blues Radio Hour with Mr. Aykroyd streaming or live. ( Blues Brothers movie is such a classic. ) I’ve now marked this site as a favorite for future reference.

Again, thanks guys. The real issue? I have with this Forum is it just seems endless on great musical discoveries.
For example, I posted a simple reference to ACL relocating and look what we got.Excellent audio / video downloads of the 4th unheard of Lucinda appearance thanks to Tom O.

Haven’t bought the CD yet but have enjoyed some samples-especially this one “You’re My Lover Now”
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y00Vl-7lmhs

This is not really the point of my post Tntracy, because I know Pieta is one of your top 10 as reported on this forum elsewhere.
Since this is Lucinda’s Forum, I am continually amazed at her links to many other great artists.
In this case Bo Ramsey’s close link to Pieta.
Now my dilemna. Of course, Tom you know Pieta is opening for Mark Knopfler ( Dire Straits ) on an rather large tour this year. I don’t see anything for the tour even remotely close to Atlanta, but I’m in luck.
Appearing April 28 /10 at the University of Buffalo ( tickets $85-$95 US before Ticket****** fees )
Appearing April 29 /10 at Massey Hall in Toronto ( tickets $75-$145 CDN before you know what.
I’ve been to both venues several times . Buffalo has about 1,400 seats and Massey Hall double that.

My dilemna is tax returns are due here in Canada with any balance owing by April 30 /10
I’m a semi-retired accountant and traditionally am quite busy the last part of April.
Should I just say the **** with it and go for the music?
Your advice would be greatly appreciated.
This concert would probably be the big one for me until Lu hits the road again. ( Mark, Pieta and hopefully Bo all in one night )

    lwj

p.s. Found this interview / video with Pieta and Bo from December 11, 2009.( look for Almanac on Demand December 2009)
TPT Television in Minneapolis. same song “You’re my lover now” but in a real high quality format.

Finally, a very-pregnant (due in mid-April, she revealed to an audience member’s question mid-set) Ms. Veirs then took the stage with a female violinist, the lead guitarist from Old Believers and Mr. Anderson yet again. They played a fairly short set – about an hour & 15 minutes – that was pretty good, if not a wee bit uneven. The highlight for me was a rousing rendition of a traditional song – I believe the title was “Red Freckled Hen” (I did not recognize it from any of her albums I have).

All in all, not a bad night, but not one of the better shows I’ve seen, truth be told…

Thanks Tom for the report. Sounds like a real pot pouri of musical talent on stage.

p.s. Good old Team USA beat us Canucks last night. Congratulations, -It was a really fast-paced hockey game.
