lwjLWjettaParticipantBeautiful. Lu really puts her heart into this song.
The other 4 on the 1/2 hour show we saw were: Righteously, Honey Bee, Joy, and West.
Someday, we will probably also see these surface on You Tube. But We are still missing the bulk of the show.
As I posted under the Austin City Limits Re-Location thread, there was a full 2 hour set (article from Pop Matters)
Yeah, I’m greedy-bring it on PBSlwj

It appears poll creation has not been enabled on this forum…
This is from the FAQ’s
How do I create a poll?
When posting a new topic or editing the first post of a topic, click the “Poll creation” tab below the main posting form; if you cannot see this, you do not have appropriate permissions to create polls. Enter a title and at least two options in the appropriate fields, making sure each option is on a separate line in the textarea. You can also set the number of options users may select during voting under “Options per user”, a time limit in days for the poll (0 for infinite duration) and lastly the option to allow users to amend their votes.
TopI see the “Poll creation” tab on the lower left of the screen if I was to start a new topic but haven’t tried it in view of your answer.
Can you get the “Energizer Bunny” WebMasta to energize(enable it?)
Thanks.

Just for Tntracy here is Elvis with Laura Cantrell singing “Bartenders Blues” from Season 1.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJHKycMTlSY

p.s. Season 1 featured Norah Jones, Roseanne Cash, John Mellencamp (for Lafayette ), Diana Krall ( wonder how she got on?), Sir Elton John, Jenny Lewis and M. Ward
I have now found out that most of Season 1 and some of Season 2 is on good old You Tube.
Just type in Spectacle with Elvis.Just for Lafayette, here is John Mellencamp’s excellent contribution to the show from last season.

I am still chugging on the painting & wallpapering and what not.
It’s no wonder you are still “chugging” what with no help from DH and going to all these great Americana gigs.
I know we are way off the topic of this thread (Tift) but we in this forum are in the middle of a big LOL and I don’t mean laugh out loud or lots of love, I mean Lull of Lucinda. So we gotta fill in the void while Lu is busy creating her next CD.
Your report on Stoll and Mike was great.
Here are my thoughts.Stoll-A great interview and song set on WNKU. His unfortunate fire on his RV, losing guitars and all and being rescued by other musicians reminded me of TOverby’s or Inside Job’s unfinished story about the fire on Lu’s Metal Firecracker.
Stoll’s new CD “The Weatherman”, I must check with my local record shop for this one.
Stoll has one of the most impressive web sites I’ve seen, what with aliens and fish coming out of nowhere on the Turquoise Universe link. Very cleverly done.
Public Radio like WNKU and KCRW gives us fans such a music treat. We have a similar network in Canada-the CBC with rare interviews and music.Mike– Again more great Americana. I see he has played at the Ryman.
Lafayette, I loved your quote on his web site (Fans Speak) re: his album ” Every Stone You Throw” Quote” really grabs the listener”I’don’t know how to insert a poll on this forum but give us your ranking of your top 5-Of course I expect John M. is # 1. Maybe our moderator can give us the info on submitting polls.
Again, thanks for your report.

The Cactus Cafe is tentatively closing.
A recent article said the closure at the Student Union is to take place in August, 2010 but the students have offered to re-locate The Cactus Cafe to their new building next year. No decision has been made yet.
Anyway, last year was the 3rd annual tribute night held at the Cactus for the Williams (a.k.a. Hank and Lucinda)
The show invites audience members to get up on stage to do their Hank or Lu thing. The show is produced by Jenny Reynolds-Austin based singer.
Here is a video of “I think I Lost It” by the Flyin’ “A’s” at the Cactus.
I hope the show can return for their 4th tribute night.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bO4yTuVOKw

am SO excited. I LOVE Amos Lee. He is in my top 5 artists along with JM and LU. I’m headed to Nashville next week to see him. After I purchased those tickets, a Louisville show was added. Uh huh, I bought tickets for that show. NOW, Cincinnati has been added AND for that show TIFT MERRITT is opening!
I think that would be a nice combo show Tift and Amos.
Who are the other two in your top 5 Lafayette?
I checked out some of Amos Lee’s music and I really like it.
In the very, very remote chance that you haven’t seen this video performance of Amos, I am posting this link.
From KCRW live-in-studio of Amos from 10/05/2006 Also in the archives, he appeared on 03/25/2005 on “Morning Becomes Eclectic”
KCRW is now my favorite music archive.

Thought I’d better add this one.
Who the heck is with Lu and where are they?
This is not a trivia question.Just some Saturday afternoon fun.

Oh really? I wouldn’t know that because I only have a burned copy of Car Wheels (sorry Lu )
Here is the real thing from CWOAGR. Y’all can really see their smiles now.
The photo is dated April, 1966, therefore Lucinda is approx. 13 years and 3 months young.@tntracy wrote:I’m not sure where LWJ found the photo collage, but the old photo of Lu & her siblings is on the back of the CD insert for Car Wheels On A Gravel Road.

um…a guitar?
Congratulations 🙂
Lu looks to be around age 12 in the photo.
I would have accepted wearing a straw hat as well.
As I said, just a little bit of fun to find and post.lwj
LWjettaParticipantBoth tonyg and folksblues 23 are correct in their assumption that Lu is the tall one on the left, but that was not my question.
What do you think is missing?

Bloodlines —-the song that Lu does a beautiful job of singing in the movie The Baby Dance. It’s been many years now but I do wish there was a soundtrack available. Well, that one song anyway.
Drunken Angel you are in luck.
Here is (Part 9) of the movie “The Baby Dance”
The video is 6:17 in length and our gal Lucinda sings “Bloodlines” starting at 3:50
It is truly a beautiful but haunting song with the accordian playing.
Here we go for your Friday listening pleasure.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FbXPbYo3A9E&feature=related

Thanks for that link. Very informative. I noticed on there that Lucinda sang background vocals for a Terry Allen record. He is the one who wrote Bloodlines —-the song that Lu does a beautiful job of singing in the movie The Baby Dance. It’s been many years now but I do wish there was a soundtrack available. Well, that one song anyway.
Drunken Angel-You are in luck”if” you get the Showtime channel on the Flix program.
Check this out. Airing today, Mar.14 and Mar. 17

lwjLWjettaParticipanttntracy wrote:To track my efforts at acquiring copies of songs Lu has recorded for compilation albums, as well as other “guest appearances” (harmony vocals, duets, etc. with other artists), I developed an MSExcel spreadsheet listing all “known” (as in, that I know of thanks to allmusic.com, wikipedia.org & imdb.com) songs w/ a column to indicate whether I have a copy of the song or not and, if so, what format I have it in (so, for example, if I only have a marginal-quality 128 kbps MP3 version of a song, I can be on the lookout for a higher quality copy). I thought others here may be interested in having a copy of this spreadsheet, hence this post.Tom, you have probably seen this data base as well, but you never know.
