Doesn’t sound like the best of venues, and way, WAY out of the way for me in Georgia, but perhaps it is a foretelling of a late summer / early fall tour! So, good news nonetheless! Thanks for posting, paul_from_losangeles!

Very encouraging news indeed.
Also see Lu’s availability Sep.-Dec. on the High Road Touring site.
Hope it all comes to fruition.

lwjLWjettaParticipantBet you didn’t know that the entire Buick 6 band has really been up and running since 1927.

Ticket prices START at $85. I knew that was too good to be true at a casino. Not sure where the ticket prices peak for these shows.
Lafayette;
I phoned Casino Rama’s box office today.
Ticket prices are $85, $100 and $125.
If I venture up there for the pre-sale on Sunday no Ticketmaster fees will apply-just sales tax.
I would be attending the Wednesday July 14th show.lwj
Boy, something happened Lafayette.
I was all set to drive up to Casino Rama today (04/11/2010) for the club member pre-sale and luckily did a last minute check on their web site.
PLEASE NOTE: Casino Rama regrets to announce that by request of the artist, tickets for the John Mellencamp concerts will not go on-sale this Sunday – Tuesday as originally posted.Tickets for these concerts dates will now go on-sale as follows:
On-site Apr. 18
Ticketmaster pre-sale Apr. 19
General Apr. 20
How do I interpret by request of the artist?
Also, on the Ticketmaster web site there is quite a discrepancy in prices.
Casino Rama told me on the phone-3 prices on Friday@LWjetta wrote:I phoned Casino Rama’s box office today.
Ticket prices are $85, $100 and $125.Ticketmaster says only 2 prices $102.50 includes $4.75 fees and $148.50 includes $4.75 fees
Wonder what gives besides Ticketmaster apparently now “hiding” most of their fees.

As far as I know, I cannot create a “sticky.” The adminstrator has to do it. Hopefully TO will check in, see this, and make it so. Good suggestion, CB.
While in Australia last year “Inside Job” wrote some wonderfull stuff on the road.
Just wondering if WebMasta and Tom Overby could enable a “sticky” under the general category.
My suggestion for the title would simply be “Lu in ’10 Blog.
I’ll leave it to the Forum as to content suggestions.
Hint, Hint, We all would love to see some “new” news.
Thanks.
lwjLWjettaParticipantSomeone has recently posted this “photo slide show” of Lu’s “Honey Bee” on You Tube.

I am SO excited. I LOVE Amos Lee. He is in my top 5 artists along with JM and LU. I’m headed to Nashville next week to see him. After I purchased those tickets, a Louisville show was added. Uh huh, I bought tickets for that show. NOW, Cincinnati has been added AND for that show TIFT MERRITT is opening!
I’m binging on Amos while patiently waiting on Lu and JM.Lafayette, I think you are in for a real treat for your Amos Lee show with Tift opening at the 20th Century Theatre on April 21st.
I took a look at the Theatre’s web site and saw that it is a very historic theatre.
If Tift in person is anything like this following interview from WNRN in Charlottesville, VA last April, it will be very special.
Watch her “bubbly” personality in the interview.

And, again from WNRN during the above interview here is Tift performing “Hopes Too High”

The Watson Twins return with Talking To You, Talking To Me (February 9th/Vanguard) their most groove-heavy and ambitious album to date.
Nice gentle music in their new album vinylfan. Thanks for posting. From their web site they wrote the entire album while at a remote mountain cabin in just 4 days. My favorite song on the new album is Midnight.
I seemed to remember seeing their names just last month when I discovered KCRW Radio in LA.
Sure enough, the Twins spent 45 minutes in their studio on “Morning Becomes Eclectic” March 10/2010
and also on Apr.9/2007.
Here is the link to KCRW. Watch and enjoy these gals.

Here is info…looks like the casino is offering a presale but I imagine that is for the high rollers? I’m hoping to find out more details tomorrow.
Hey Lafayette-Great News. I’m pretty sure I’m in!
I have been to Casino Rama several times for concerts and feeding the penny slots.
Nice theatre style venue-approx. room for 5,000 ( all seats are pretty good viewing), deluxe hotel on site, native run huge Casino.
It’s about 1&1/2 hours North of Toronto at Orillia. Beautiful country.
I have the Passport Card as follows:
Casino Rama Players Passport
Issued at sign up, the red card entitles you to exclusive pre-sale box office tickets, Diners Pass, monthly e-announcements* and $5 cash for every 100 CashBack Points. As a coincidence, I’m attending a concert there on Apr. 30th with my nephew and his wife. Seeing a rock band “Collective Soul”, not really my bag but it gives me an excuse to get out of town to visit them. They bought my ticket.
That’s a bummer on box-office pre-sale for a Passport Member like me( once I remember my password -then I can sign up for their monthly e-mail announcements), but I could take a chance and buy my ticket on Apr.30, otherwise it’s a 4 hour drive from where I live to Orillia.
So convince me.

While everyone clamors around for their favorite LW clip or song or clever quip, I am going to hold on to my memories of visiting the home of the best Po’Boy in NO (affectionately referred to as the “debris sandwich”) along with the ice-cold root beer.
Hey DavidinMaine, thanks for posting this, now look at what I discovered.
“Quote”
The Barq’s Brothers Bottling Company was founded in 1890 in the French Quarter of New Orleans, Louisiana, by Edward Charles Edmond Barq and his younger brother, Gaston. The Barq Brothers bottled carbonated water and various soft drinks of their own creation. Early on their most popular creation was an orange-flavored soda called Orangine, which won a gold medal at the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition World’s Fair in Chicago, Illinois.
Edward Barq moved to Biloxi, Mississippi, in 1897 with his new wife. The following year he opened the Biloxi Artesian Bottling Works. 1898 is often given as the debut year for what was later to be known as “Barq’s root beer,” but some sources say this particular product was not produced until some two years later.[2]
For many decades Barq’s was not marketed as a “root beer.” This was in part a desire to avoid legal conflict with the Hires Root Beer company, which was attempting to claim a trademark on the term “root beer.” It was also due to differences from other root beers at the time. The base was a sarsaparilla drink of the style of the late 19th century, in a formulation with caffeine, less sugar, and higher carbonation than other brands, though with less of a foamy “head.” It was decided to market the soft drink simply as Barq’s.
End “Quote”
I have preferred Barq’s Root Beer over Hires and A&W for many years.
Again thanks for bringing this to the Forum’s attention.
lwjLWjettaParticipantNot too much longer to wait for Anne’s new CD.
In the meantime, I found Anne’s showcase performance ( a full 47 minutes of live music ) from the Americana Music Conference 2006.
From mvyradio’s archives.(Martha’s Vineyard Radio)
Lots of great guitar riffs.
Enjoy.

That’s Kool women.
I’m hoping Farm Aid ends up in Vermont this year, but the last newsletter I received doesn’t give me a clue as to location.

ha ha.
I’ll be purchasing NEIL’s new DVD ( Trunk Show )from the Ryman when available.
The trailer and other clips I’ve seen are great.
lwjLWjettaParticipantWatch a nice interview with Carrie wherein she heaps a lot of praise about Lucinda.
I missed a Lu show in Buffalo late April 2007 with Carrie on fiddle opening for Lu.
http://www.searchforvideo.com/watchclip/?id=3331912
A little more research on Carrie leads me to believe everyone in the better music circles is somehow connected with Lu. Here she is on the fiddle from the Hayseed band playing along with good old bassist “Hombre” Price back in 2001[attachment=0:3r6afahd]Carrie Rodriguez Hayseed Hombre SXSW ’01.jpg[/attachment:3r6afahd] That’s Hombre not Mombre spAnd further here you can listen to several interviews with Carrie from mvyradio (Independent radio located in Martha’s Vineyard) -If you search their archives y’all will find Lucinda there along with many other favorites.

When you recently went to see Amos in Nashville, did you get any NEIL tickets for the Ryman?
