Any word over there about a possible late summer ballpark tour with JM once again joining Mr. Dylan? Yep, that’s the word in the blogosphere. Nothing confirmed yet by Mellencamp’s camp, at least, nothing released to his website yet.
Supposedly this is the BallPark schedule.

Amos Lee and Lucinda Williams, for me, are the male and female version of artists, in lyrical content and live shows, that totally move me
Lafayette you had better buy the sharpest “Sharpie” available when this CD hits the streets to
make sure Amos leaves enough room on the CD case for Lu to sign.
Congrats on a dream coming true.

Hey musiclover, what a treat. Thanks for posting. A full hour from a gorgeous red- headed English lady.
Loved the songs “A hundred Years From Now” , “It’s been a cruel summer” and at the end in acoustic guitar solo the new album title song” The Ghost Who Walks”
Nice keyboard and violin accompanyment too.
I can’t decide who Karen sounds like. In the It’s been a cruel summer” almost has a bit of honky tonk in it, all the others are very gentle songs.
Our moderator is partial to the female gender in music and he and others should check Karen out.

Not really to do with the current topic of “Other Stuff”, here is an excerpt from an article about Lu in her house, I guess shortly after reconnecting with TOverby.
QUOTE
For being in such a narcissistic profession, unlike other rock icons, there are very few images of Williams on her walls, save a Mark Seliger picture of her as a brunette, sitting in the corner of a white room filled with watermelons. A riot of pink, green, and brown, the photograph is more an art statement than a declaration of self-love. The only other images of the singer are three portraits painted by outsider folk artist Lamar Sorrento, more feral caricatures than true rendering, and therefore allowed a place on her walls. Before moving to this haven, Williams spent three years living in a hotel, but now she’s getting restless again, looking to buy something in another unpretentious part of town. “It’s too small for all our stuff,” she complains. “But that’s always the way. The minute I feel settled, I’ve got a foot out the door.” Perhaps a holdover from a tumultuous childhood that saw her following her poet father from university to university where he taught writing in distant places like Chile and Mexico City, you realize that “Change the Locks” isn’t just a romantic metaphor but a conditioned response to a nomadic life that’s finally coming to an end. Lucinda is finally home.
END QUOTE
Gotta love the “Change the Locks” reference.
Here is the full read from Sonic Boomers June 1, 2006 entitled “West Side Story-Confessions of Love, Lust and Violence”
( hope it’s not a re-post, but it is an excellent lengthy article and praises TOverby’s entrance into Lu’s life.http://www.sonicboomers.com/pastprint/westside-story-lucinda-williams-confessions-love-lust-and-violence

Is it Lu with a wax museum figure?!? ❓ 😳
It’s so small it is hard for my old eyes to tell…
TomTntracy
You win the detective prize for May, 2010.
There were (past tense) two wax museums in Nashville at one time.
1. Country Music Wax Museum-closed in 1997
2. Music Valley Wax Museum which basically had been destroyed by the devastating floods recently.
Somehow they hope to salvage enough to re-open.
Looking at Lu’s hairstyle the photo must have been taken around 1998. I found the same wax figure with another country singer posing with Loretta (wax) from the Music Valley site but both museums stated Loretta.
However, some figures from Country Music ended up at Music Valley and others are now in storage.

lwj, a fan from Canada just posted to JM’s Yahoo list he scored 4th row seats to Casino Rama show. Fingers crossed we will be able to do the same for Windsor.
Yup , my purchased 9th row floor centre stage ticket looks good compared to what Ticketmaster is showing now.
Love those pre-sale advance passwords.
Just a reminder that it’s a little more than a month and a half for JM in Windsor.
Almost two years ago to the day on July 18/08 LU and JM were just across the river in Detroit.
Since it is now almost summer this will get you in the mood from many years ago.

P.S. What?!?! No cheddar cheese in all of bleep-ing Canada? For shame, LWJ, FOR SHAME!
OK I strayed away from replying to Butch’s dilemna about having to put up with Muenster cheese on his gourmet hot dog.
But now I have to step in.
First of all the two videos ( hot doggity and peanut butter ) show Buick 6’s tour bus possibly parked on Victoria St. in Toronto. Pretty sure anyway because I attended Lu’s concert at Massey Hall on October 11, 2008 and recognize the neighborhood. But the video may have been shot elsewhere.
Second of all, Butch is moaning about the Venue not being able to get real Canadian sharp cheddar cheese.
I lay the blame totally on TOverby for not specifying this clearly in the Contract Rider.
Lu has attended many concerts at Massey Hall over the years and the Venue should be aware that there is the St. Lawrence Market perhaps two blocks from the Venue with an outstanding collection of fine cheeses and gourmet hot dogs available.
Like this Black Diamond speciality cheese.Made from unpasteurized cow’s milk.
Robert F. Hart began making this fine Canadian cheddar in 1933. Today, Black Diamond is probably Canada’s most well-known cheddar. The “”Grand Reserve”” signifies that this cheddar is aged a minimum of two years. Made from raw milk, this white cheddar encased in black wax has a sharp, robust, tangy flavor.blackdiamond cheese.jpg[/attachment:5kgb0zys]

LWjettaParticipantThis posting “finally” gets away from Butch the gourmet chef.
Hear is some real music with Butch and his long-time friend Peter Malick.
This relates to their upcoming 17 track release called “Duets From the Spin Cycle”.

Hey LWJ –
I only have a second (got to go do some work), but I can provide answers for you on three of those listed tracks:The others do not ring a bell for me off of the top of my head. Bear in mind though, setlists from live shows found on the Internet sometimes contain someone’s “best guess” at a song title (like “Bill” above – since the name is prominently sung, someone might have just assumed that was the title). Another possibility, of course, is that Lu might have covered a song as a “one off”, or just occasionally, that was never released on any album, compilation or otherwise.
When I get a chance, I’ll look into some of the others.
TomHey Tom I knew I’d get some expertise on this one. Thanks.
I did discover the answer for KPFK-FM in LA 04/14/85 In My Girlish Days Done by Memphis Minnie from the album Best of Memphis Minnie ( Nothing in Ramblin’ is also on the album). Also just a thought on KUT-FM Austin Soap Creek Saloon 06/07/84 How It Feels
There is a song on Tom Petty’s album Wildflowers but from 1994 It is called “You Don’t Know How It Feels”
and very interestingly on the same album there is a song called “Honey Bee.”
So much music to explore eh?
I was impressed with the link I found-so much of Lu’s career is chronicled on it.
Think about it the set lists go back to 1981-Hence near the Lu’s 30th anniversary mark in the biz.

Y’know, LWj…I was stunned, yes, stunned I tell you, that I was the lone voter for “unreleased” Lucinda. I’ve spent many an enjoyable moment listening to Bob’s Bootleg Series. Lu must have some buried treasures worth a listen, no
OK Lefty, “Maybe this will help”
As we know in the INFO section of the site Barry Brooks has compiled a pretty comprehensive list of live appearances with songs starting in 1981 thru to Aug., 2005.
I found this extremely detailed set listing from someone in the UK from 1981 right thru to the Vogue Theatre in Indianopolis, In June 9, 2009.Includes lots of concert comments.
I’ll provide the link at the end, but here we go on perhaps “some” un-released Lucinda material.
I have not fully researched the song titles.
Perhaps WebMASTA can possibly make use the listing in the re-freshed web site.KUT-FM Austin 10/04/81 Bill,Song for a Jewelry Maker
KUT-FM Austin Soap Creek Saloon 06/07/84 How It Feels, All I Want, No Kidding Yourself
KPFK-FM in LA 04/14/85 In My Girlish Days, Lover of the Hour
KGSR-FM Austin 12/04/98 Come to Me Baby OK I found it on Vic Chestnut’s album
New York State Fairgrounds Syracuse, NY 08/31/99 None to report here. I’m sure you Lefty were at this one opening for the Allmans with the barker and candy floss.
Catalyst Santa Cruz, CA 09/o6/08 None to report here except the commentary proclaimed
this to be Lu Day by the Mayor and Lu joined in in playing the drums.
And the list ends.
Here is the link and if you experts in “Luology” can find out any info on the songs I listed above, let us know.

Great news-A tribute album for Loretta.
Loretta just turned 75 years young ,she will be doing two gigs at this year’s Lilith Fair and on a more sombre note her Ranch in Hurricaine Mills, TN has temporarily closed due to the severe flooding. On a brighter note TOverby, can you ask Lu the origin of this photo?Lu Vintage.jpg[/attachment:125hu87k]

Great report Lafayette.
There is not much to add, but I’ll try.
Perusing their web site gives a number of innovative approaches to their music.
Here is the site.

In order to raise funds for the production costs for the new album (with Lu) they are asking for donations at various levels much like WNKU and all other public radio stations. In return, you can get advance copies of the CD, your name in the CD jewel case, special invitation only concerts, etc.
If you really want to splurge and can afford it you can accompany Karen and Linford on a musical train ride out West. ( Didn’t Janis Joplin do the train ride tour as well? )
Now, I’m just wondering out loud, that since Karin and Linford state that there will be a number of musical guests on board the train and it departs from LA Connect the ……Aren’t LU and TomO living in LA?

Yeah fuji81, I echo your comment-At least I have an autgraphed Buick 6 CD (You know, the one with Lu on the cover wearing specs and duct tape)=Correction, all autographed by Chet, David and Eric-Butch was microwaving a hot dog in the tour bus after the concert.
Seriously, they are all great musicians and maybe with the changeover in the Band membership, time for a new name.
I reported under Davidinmaine’s poll on Apr.19/10 that there are at least 4 other bands world wide with the same name as follows:Speaking of Buick 6, I have counted at least 5 bands with the same name hailing from LA(Lu’s),the UK,Australia,Austin TX and Winnipeg Manitoba.Perhaps Lu played a big role in the band’s name as she mentioned in the PBS interview by Charlie Rose that Bob Dylan was her favorite artist.
i.e. Dylan’s recording of “From a Buick 6” Here we go.
