Terrell Owens? He is such a ball hog! π
LeftyParticipantExcerpt from a Chrissie Hynde interview w/ The Scotsman that I posted recently…
As she began to work on new songs, she found her direction changing. “Spending more time in Akron, I was getting more of an American feel in my sensibility,” she says. In addition, the Pretenders toured last year with ZZ Top, and Hynde participated in a tribute concert to Jerry Lee Lewis. When she went to Joshua Tree National Park in California and found where the ashes of the alternative-country pioneer Gram Parsons had been scattered, “I sort of had my epiphany there and I thought, Wow, I think I know how this thing is going to go now.”LeftyParticipantThanks for the report, DE.
Tim: Was that you opening up a can of whupass on somebody last night? π
LeftyParticipant“…nothing to do with the discussions here.”
Ouch! That may be so, IJ, but please don’t burst our bubble! Fans like to fan-tasize that they somehow/someway hold some sway over the artist.
LeftyParticipantIf youβve been holding your breath for Neil Youngβs Archives, well, youβre probably dead by now. The eight-CD, double-DVD behemoth was originally supposed to hit way back in 2007 and then pushed back to this fall. Well, guess what, itβs been delayed again.
According to several news reports, the set has been once again held up due to production issues and likely wonβt see the light of day until early next year. The original press release touted Archives as an interactive and chronological overview of Youngβs career, featuring “music, movies, videos, personal archives, memorabilia, photographs, letters, handwritten manuscripts, and more.” Young is working with Sun Microsystems and Reprise/Warner on this release, which is to cover his work form 1963-1972 in the first volume.
However, to cheer you up a bit, Bad News Beat reports that Sugar Mountain, “a 22-track set recorded in November 1968 in Ann Arbor, Michigan,” will supposedly be released November 28. No word, though, if Young plans to stick to this date.

LeftyParticipantThanks for checking in, Tim.
I’m surprised The Egg wasn’t full.
Maybe people are forced to choose food & shelter over music.LeftyParticipantThank you, Ralph. Nice work. π
(tho’ the smilies still creep me out a little…)LeftyParticipantThat remark from Chrissie caught my eye, too, Ray. I’m glad she’s back in action.

Lucinda & Chrissie would make for an edgy duet, imho.
LeftyParticipantI think most of us around here lean toward the left coast performances.
LeftyParticipantIt was an excellent show, tony, but #%@&!, it was LOUD!
I was definitely playing the grampa role that night π
Don’t forget, you need to provide a report on Neil when you see him…end of this month?LeftyParticipanthttp://hearos.com/earplugs/musician-ear-plugs.html
Saw Meat Puppets, Dinosaur Jr & Built to Spill two Fridays ago in NYC, glad I had my Skull Screws with me.
Never thought of Lucinda & the guys being loud, but pain is in the ears of the beholder.LeftyParticipant“ADVISORY WARNING: THE FOLLOWING SETLIST CONTAINS ONLY ONE SONG WHICH APPEARS ON A PRE-TWENTY-FIRST CENTURY LUCINDA WILLIAMS RECORD. DEVOTEES OF THE “EARLY” MATERIAL, READ ON AT YOUR OWN PERIL.”
