“Before the show I got something to eat at an Italian place across the street. All I wanted to do was watch some of the baseball game and have a drink. Broken TV, no booze for some unexplained reason although there was a bar there, and some guy started jackhammering in the rest room just as I started eating and it never stopped.”
…Are you sure you weren’t in Syracuse, tony?
LeftyParticipantStart with his new album, CB, and work backwards…

LeftyParticipantSaw Garland perform last Sunday night at the Oneonta Theatre. In the aftermath of Hurricane Irene, there could not have been more than 20 in attendance. Sad. GJ seemed unfazed; he and long-time associate Al Freedman put on a terrific show, including Bob’s “She Belongs to Me” and “Corrina, Corrina.” Garland shook everybody’s hand at least once and gladly signed my copy of “Grinder’s Switch.” Thought I heard him say to someone between sets that he was going to be on Letterman Sept. 7. If you ever have a chance to see this man perform, you won’t be disappointed! Sixty-eight years old with a voice that sounds ageless.
Note to the burgeoning Amos Lee fan club here: I’d venture to say that Garland is Amos’s unofficial godfather. 8)
LeftyParticipantIn agreement with earlier suggestions of “Blind Willie McTell” and “Meet Me in the Morning.”
Two more, humbly submitted: “”Born in Time” and “I Shall Be Released”

Whatever you say, guys…LeftyParticipant“Circuital” – My Morning Jacket
Another weirdly wonderful record by these boys — I’m hearing the Who, Burt Bacharach, the Ramones, Bananarama, Paul Rodgers of Bad Company…
LeftyParticipantCB, your reportage is “stogeresque” (“stogeriffic”?) — anyway, good stuff! ๐

15. All Along The WatchtowerA very decent show & setlist by Bob & the boys last night in upstate wine country. Happy to get Mississippi, as you were Parker, but it was Blind Willie & Simple Twist that made my night. Couldn’t bear to hear that encore yet again, so drove off into the night after Thin Man. No complaints! Glad to see Leon Russell among the living, too!
LeftyParticipantThanks for the music from Wolfy, LWj. Yeah, Sirius 23 is on my short list, too. ๐
