Welcome aboard, saucy. Thanks for checking in. Always like seeing “Wellx3” in the mix… π
LeftyParticipantThank you, Mr. Moderator π
Was hoping that GJ would perform “Til John Lee Hooker Calls Me,” but wasn’t disappointed with his few minutes on Letterman. Hope he picked up a few fans Friday night!

LeftyParticipantThank you, Roger, for posting about this young lady. She’s become a GREAT FIND for me in 2011. Heartily recommend both of her records.
Before the night is gone
Wonβt you tell me our love will linger on?
And knock that chip off your shoulder
Into your heart of stone to start a spark

LeftyParticipantYAY! π Plus, Bryan Cranston from “Breaking Bad” will be Dave’s guest, too.
LeftyParticipantFrom Garland’s website:
Larry Campbell recorded for and co-produced The King Of In Between…Larry arranged and played the strings on “Streetwise”. He also played guitar on “The Contortionist”, “‘Til John Lee Hooker Calls Me”, “Rock and Roll Music”, “The Beautiful Truth” and “In God’s Waiting Room.” Some of the other artists contributing to the album include Steve Jordan, Mike Merritt, Duke Levine, Duncan Sheik, and Lou Reed.
Larry Campbell and I met at the old Kenny’s Castaways on the Upper East Side back in the day. We figured it must’ve been then because when we met at my place to talk about making The King Of In Between, it brought back a few memories. We started off on a good foot when he said he liked a couple songs I played him; we immediately started talking about various players and we were off to the races.
I’ve never had such a clear sense about someone being the right person for me to work with. His suggestions, ideas, playing, arrangements and direction…his whole manner was something new to me, despite my many years of recording.
We worked closely and wasted no time getting the basics recorded. The band of Steve Jordan, Duke Levine, Brian Mitchell, Mike Merritt, Larry, and me were locked in from day one. Several of the songs were “live” in the studio: one-take renditions with vocal intact. Preparation for the sessions was succinct, without any wasted time. The entire experience making this album with Larry was without glitches or conflicts and the end result was beyond what I’d expected. Thanks Larry, for your friendship and great judgment. – Garland Jeffreys

In addition to The Lost Notebooks of Hank Williams, Bob Dylan fans can expect even more new product, including a previously unreleased track from 1981’s Shot Of Love sessions.
1. Hawaii Five-O: Original Songs From The Television Series [Soundtrack] (CBS Records, October 4)
This soundtrack features the 1981 Bob Dylan recording of “Don’t Ever Take Yourself Away,” an “unfinished” song recently completed and embellished by Nikki Jean, and released as “Steel and Feathers (Don’t Ever).”
Here’s some information about the track from Alan Fraser’s Searching For A Gem site:
Minnesotan singer Nikki Jean (Nicholle Jean Leary), formerly a member of group Nouveau Riche, was given an “unfinished” song STEEL AND FEATHERS (DON’T EVER) from Bob’s 1981 “Shot Of Love” sessions, and has completed the song, to be included on her upcoming S-Curve US album “Pennies In A Jar”, to be released on 12 Jul 2011. The song is actually DONβT EVER TAKE YOURSELF AWAY, which circulates amongst Dylan collectors on several bootlegs such as “The Genuine Bootleg Series.” She’s revised Bob’s lyrics, rewriting the verses but keeping the tune and choruses.
Dylan tried two takes of “Don’t Ever Take Yourself Away” at Clover Recorders, Los Angeles, on April 23, 1981. Here’s the line-up:
Bob Dylan (vocal & guitar), Danny Kortchmar (guitar), Steve Ripley (guitar), Benmont Tench (keyboards), Tim Drummond (bass), Jim Keltner (drums), Carolyn Dennis, Regina Havis & Clydie King (backing vocals).
