ParticipantMy trip was amazing! My Sugar Bowl trip wish of returning to the Big Easy, sans young son, was granted.
The weather was sunny, hot but not humid, which is my kind of weather. JazzFest was great. I chose to see Amos on Saturday 😯 over JM for several reasons and after seeing the crowd at the stage for Bon Jovi (same stage JM played on Sunday)on Saturday, I was very happy I chose Amos. We were walking the grounds before Amos’s set and I ran into Mutlu and was introduced to Andrew, on keyboards. Amos mentioned during his set it was a dream for him to be playing Jazzfest…so I’ve seen 2 of his bucket list shows in the past several months.

ParticipantGreat video…it kept buffering on me though. Will have to try again.

ParticipantI love road reports and press reports!

ParticipantYes, indeed, a show I would have loved to have seen…it could have been two dream “pairings” in as little as three months. Thanks for digging up this info, lwj.

You didn’t get your namesake tune, lafayette, but one of your faves off West, no? [tour debut/Blake debut] Despite that one and the Hank left off, much to love with the Fats Domino cover et. al.–semi- “heavy” on Car Wheels, yes, but not overwhelmingly, six I think. Thanks for the report, SS. I can’t speak for West Words, but I’m experiencing mild regret (albeit ensconced here in the Crescent City at moment) at skipping the Lafayette gig. My day will come again soon.
Yes, one of my favorites off West, stoger.
You have Jazz Fest today and HOB tomorrow. DH and I made the HOB our first sustenance stop on my few days in the Crescent City. The gumbo was very good. According to our server, Robert Plant had stopped in the night before. That info was divulged in a conversation about Lu playing there on Friday.

ParticipantThanks Blake. You are certainly the buzz since you joined the band — on the forum, Lu’s FB page, and someone even commented about you on the “Steal Your Love” YouTube upload from the Covington show. One of your guitars a Dickey Betts gift? Yow-za!

ParticipantMama, You Sweet….love it!

ParticipantThanks so much for the report! I would have loved to see this show. Sadly, “Lafayette” was not included although in the Lafayette setlist thread it looks as though it made the list.

ParticipantGood post JMH–and leads me to this question.
Blake, how many guitars are in your collection?
Lafayette
Participant“Convince Me” after hearing it live at the Asheville show.

ParticipantSearch the forum (I used New Orleans as my key words) for the “Lu and her New Orleans history” thread from a year and a half ago. On page 4, TNT posted Lu’s notes about suggestions she had plus some personal memories of her time in NOLA. Great suggestions on her list. I’m currently on an iPad and don’t know how to copy and paste. 😳
We went to the garden district yesterday via cable car. We were given a walking tour guide to the mansions from someone working the door at Commander’s Palace, an upscale restaurant. The night before we did the standard tourist thing and went on a guided ghost tour, capping off the night with a few hurricanes.
As far as the festival, blankets and chairs are items allowed inside the grounds. Stay away from the rentals inside the grounds. $68 for a chair!
Looking forward to your report(s)!

ParticipantWish I could meet up with you, Sam. I leave tomorrow. Have had the best time tooling around the city. I just returned from a Lu recommend, per her NOLA list she put together last year, dinner at Muriel’s.
Lafayette
ParticipantI love setlist / show updates!

Pit seats, but left side, although I think about 3 front rows are gone out there, so row F only has 2 rows of seats in front of it. Buying some Amos Lee on Amazon tonight.
Which Amos record are you buying?
